nominal speed.
A Speed regulator is a controlled drive. It features a control system with power
amplification and a feedback loop and is described as ,,closed loop". The speed of the
motor is defined by a reference value. That value is continiously compared with a
feedback signal, which is an image of the motor speed. This signal is supplied either by a
tachogenerator or by a pulse generator connected ate the motor shaft end. If a deviation is
detected following speed variation, the values applied to the motor (voltage, frequency or
both) are automatically corrected in order to restore the speed to its initial value.
