Then, after killing his pray, the man dropped the disgusting body and cleaned his sword. Heartless wanted to run away, but she knew that this man, probably not even human, was much faster and stronger than her. That's why she just stood there and watched the youth's moves. Finally, when he had cleaned his sword, he started to search something. Soon he found it, because he took from the nearby ground a large book and started reading it. In the meanwhile the monster, whom he thought was dead, started moving and stood up. She (or even it) saw the enemy and rushed towards him. The man seemed not to be noticing her, so Heartless decided to save the man from the horrible death this beast wanted to cause. There was a bloodstained sword lying before her, so she took it from the

church. The orders for this came from Tavington. After furious Gabriel discovered what had happened, he with a small group of men and the Dragoons had a fight and during this, many men on both sides were killed, leaving Gabriel and the Reverend to face off against Tavington. The Reverend was shot, but threw his loaded musket to Gabriel, who shot Tavington, who promtply fell to the ground. However, as Gabriel approached his body, he quickly turned around and stabbed him with his sword. As Tavington escaped, Benjamin got there in time to find Gabriel dying on the ground. In the final battle, Col. Harry Burwell and Jean helped Benjamin defeat the British, by using the militia (who were held in low regard by the British officers) as a feint. Soon Martin and Tavington were able to face off, one on one. As Tavington gained the upper hand in their vicious fight, he muttered, "Kill me before the war is over, will you? Giidindus- Toompea

TOOMPEA Toompea (from German Domberg – Cathedral Hill ) is a limestone hill with an area of about 7 hectares in the central part of Tallinn. It towers about 30-40 m above the surrounding areas. According to the legend it´s the tumulus mound over the grave of the national hero Kalev, erected stone by stone in his memory by his grieving wife Linda. It is the birthplace of Tallinn - a place where in 1229 the Knights of the Sword built a fortress instead of the wooden Estonian stronghold. Toompea Castle is also one of the most potent symbols of the reigning power. Today Toompea is the seat of the Government of Estonia as well as the Riigikogu, both of which are often simply colloquially referred to as Toompea. For centuries there was only one access to Toompea - Pikk Jalg - but there is also another way leading up to Toompea - Lühike Jalg, which was made in the 14th century

Speech: Ideas are our greatest weapons

Speech: Ideas are our greatest weapons Hello class and classmates, I would like to open up my speech with a quote that I find really amazing: „The pen is mightier than the sword”. Sadly I don't know whose it is, but it means, that not every war has to be fought with swords and weapons, coming up with an idea about something that isn't violent might be a lot easier way to conquer in life. I think that all of you know that every tool, weapon, Everything that surrounds us, has started with an idea. That shouldn't be new for you. Some people might find it hard to believe, but even the most common things- like chairs, walls, even a pack of bread has been an idea once. Someone had probably felt that his or her legs got tired and sitting on floor might not be so comfortable, so one chose to invent a chair. Think of it- even floor, where people used to sit before chairs were invented is certainly someone's idea and invention. Isn't it strange...

It stands on the site where Edward the Confessor had the original palace built in the first half of the eleventh century . In 1547 the royal residence was moved to Whitehall Palace, but the Lords continued to meet at Westminster, while the commons met in St. Stephen's Chapel. Ever since these early times, the Palace of Westminster has been home to the English Parliament. In 1834 there was a huge fire that destroyed much of the old palace. All that remained was the chapel crypt, The Jewel Tower and Westminster Hall. A New Beginning

After a minute or two spent in abnormal silence the first rider cried out as loud as he could: "Run!" The second man jumped off his horse and rushed to the forest that was waiting some meters ahead. But then he remembered about the other rider, but when he turned the Devil`s Field was empty. His companion was gone as well the horses. The man was seriously scared now, but since he was one of the Royal Solders fear was not allowed to be shown in public. So he drew his half-iron, half-silver sword and decided to go back to the field, but then he thought: "Alec told me to run...It means I mustn`t return to That place anymore...What should I do?" Suddenly the cloudy autumn sky turned red and the rider heard some wild animal roaring. This was unacceptable to his brave lionheart and he ran off to the forest not looking back even once. He wandered pointlessly many hours thinking of his friend whom was taken away by some mysterios beast. "Maybe the Devil really exists

Romeo and Juliet

Romeo and Juliet The story concerns two noble families of Verona, the Capulets and the Montagues, that have feuded for generations. The prologue also explains that the lovers' tragic suicides "[bury] their parents' strife." R & J are star-crossed lovers it means, that they can never be happy together and they rather die before they live without each other. The action starts with a street-battle between the two families, started by their servants and put down by the Prince of Verona, Escalus. 1485; York (white) vs Lancaster (red). 1485, Henry Tudor united both families and ended the civil war, he became Henry VII, the first Tudor monarch. The end of the Middle Ages. · Chivalry was changing. Major technological advancement gunpowder. Knights and their armour became useless. No need for enormous castles. · The previously rigid set of classes were not so rigid anymore. E.g. a poor man with a gun was a match for a knight with a sword. · Thomas Mallory "Morte D'Arthur". In prose, very simple, vivid, the last great representative of medieval romances. Even as he was writing it, the whole idea of chivalry was losing its status. · William Caxton the first printer in England. One of his earlier prints was of "Morte D'Arthur" · The genre of the ballad became very popular and very well developed. A ballad is a song that tells a story, usually they were accompanied by music

preoccupation; when Gertrude tells him that Hamlet has killed Polonius, Claudius does not remark that Gertrude might have been in danger, but only that he would have been in danger had he been in the room. He tells Laertes the same thing as he attempts to soothe the young man's anger after his father's death. Claudius is ultimately too crafty for his own good. In Act V, scene ii, rather than allowing Laertes only two methods of killing Hamlet, the sharpened sword and the poison on the blade, Claudius insists on a third, the poisoned goblet. When Gertrude inadvertently drinks the poison and dies, Hamlet is at last able to bring himself to kill Claudius, and the king is felled by his own cowardly machination. Gertrude Few Shakespearean characters have caused as much uncertainty as Gertrude, the beautiful Queen of Denmark. The play seems to raise more questions about Gertrude than it answers, including: Was she involved with

"Othello"

Montano, Gratiano and Iago come into the room and Emilia, who realizes what Iago has done, is very frustrated. Once Emilia tells him how she found the handkerchief and gave it to Iago, Othello is crushed and begins crying. Iago kills Emilia and he is caught by Lodovico and Montano. Cassio is wounded. Othello wounds Iago and is disarmed. Othello makes a speech about how he would like to be remembered, then kills himself with a sword. The play ends with a speech by Lodovico, who gives Othello's house and goods to Gratiano and orders that Iago be executed. Conclusion: In conclusion, the book had advantages and disadvantages. I liked, that it was a play and it didn't have a lot of epic parts (in case of Shakespeare's book) and that it was long enough for a play. The disadvantages were, that I actually didn't understand the colloquial language very well.

trade (16%) and transport and communication (14%). History. Tallinn has a great history. It was first marked on a map of the world by the Arab geographer al-Idrisi in 1154, its name then being Kolyvan. In the 13 th- century chronicle of Henricus de Lettis the town was called Lyndanise. Then it was called Reval for some time and finally Estonians started to call the town Tallinn from Taanilinn (Danish town) after the Danish conquest in the 13th century. The Knights of the Sword took Tallinn from the Danes in 1227 and made Toompea their fortress. In the middle of the 14th century Denmark sold its possessions in Estonia to the German Teutonic Order; Toompea became the seat of German-born gentry. A fortified wall was built between the Toompea (the Upper Town) and the Lower Town (inhabited by people of a lower social standing), as there were conflicts between the two. The doors and the gates of the wall were locked at night, a

William Shakespeare - Hamlet

For your desire to know what is between us, O'ermaster 't as you may. And now, good friends, As you are friends, scholars and soldiers, Give me one poor request. 44 HORATIO What is't, my lord? we will. HAMLET Never make known what you have seen to-night. HORATIO MARCELLUS My lord, we will not. HAMLET Nay, but swear't. HORATIO In faith, My lord, not I. MARCELLUS Nor I, my lord, in faith. HAMLET Upon my sword. MARCELLUS We have sworn, my lord, already. HAMLET Indeed, upon my sword, indeed. Ghost [Beneath] Swear. HAMLET 45 Ah, ha, boy! say'st thou so? art thou there, truepenny? Come on—you hear this fellow in the cellarage— Consent to swear. Tartu ajalugu

The first floor has been completely redesigned. In addition to the pharmacy there were also bank rooms. Smaller changes have been made on the second floor. Despite these changes, the town hall has maintained its historic appearance. Till this day the Tartu Town Council and Town Government are housed in the town hall an indication of Tartu's conservativeness. Tartu's coat of arms is derived from the medieval town stamp. The key and sword above the gate are the attributes of the Tartu bishopric as well as the town's patron saints Peter and Paul. At the end of the 16th century southern Estonia was under Polish rule. In 1584 King Stefan Batory gave Tartu its flag. Every day at 12, 6, and 9 o'clock p.m. a tune sounds from the town hall's bell tower. ROMANTISM

Runs a joy with silken twine. The babe is more than swaddling bands; Every farmer understands. Every tear from every eye Becomes a babe in eternity; This is caught by females bright, And return'd to its own delight. The bleat, the bark, bellow, and roar, Are waves that beat on heaven's shore. The babe that weeps the rod beneath Writes revenge in realms of death. The beggar's rags, fluttering in air, Does to rags the heavens tear. The soldier, arm'd with sword and gun, Palsied strikes the summer's sun. The poor man's farthing is worth more Than all the gold on Afric's shore. One mite wrung from the lab'rer's hands Shall buy and sell the miser's lands; Or, if protected from on high, Does that whole nation sell and buy. He who mocks the infant's faith Shall be mock'd in age and death. He who shall teach the child to doubt The rotting grave shall ne'er get out. He who respects the infant's faith Triumphs over hell and death.

The 4 oldest Churches in Tallinn

The Four oldest churches of Tallinn Report Supervisor: Ingrid Teigar Tallinn 2009 The Dome Church The Danes began fortification of Toompea after the conquest of Tallinn in 1219 and probably also built the first church there. It was presumably a wooden building located at the site of the present cathedral. However, a serious conflict with the Order of the Brothers of the Sword broke out soon as the latter wanted to gain control of the entire Estonia. The order succeeded in subordinating Tallinn and the whole of North Estonia to its rule in 1227. The monks of the Dominican Order began the construction of a stone church in Toompea in 1229. The first written data on the cathedral date back to 1233, the date of a battle between the order and the pro-papal vassals, who attempted for the last time to turn

Project ESTONIA MAP OF ESTONIA Southern Viljandimaa The southern part of Viljandi county catches the eye with its sublime scenery. The area today lies in the very heart of the historical Mulgimaa the home of hills, deep valleys and lakes brought together by a beauty spot Halliste primeval valley. According to several folk tales, it is also in these valleys, woods and bogs that Old Nick found refuge. The great variety displayed in the nature is also reflected in the local cultural heritage. At the beginning of the 19th century growing linen spread and became the basis of the legendary wealth of Mulgi farms. The ancient barn-dwellings and decaying manor houses are the mute witnesses of those times. The riches and cultural heritage of Mulgimaa owe to the diligence and tenacity of the local people. Village handicraftsmen and masters have always been honoured. Mulgikapsad (stewed sauerkraut with barley gro...

Conservative Party and the Labour Party, each party can have its own side! The party which is in government sits on the right. The two red lines on the floor must not be crossed, to prevent either side attacking the other during a debate. MPs in Britain do not normally use physical violence, but the red lines are a historical tradition; in the past, MPs used to carry swords into the Chamber and the distance between the two lines is too wide for a sword fight! The most important MPs sit on the front benches and are therefore called frontbenchers. Younger and less experienced MPs sit on the back benches and are known as backbenchers. The ministers of the Government sit on the front bench to the right. whilst the Opposition frontbenchers sit on the left. When the Prime Minister or any other leading politician makes a speech, they stand at the table in the centre, below the Speaker's chair. These seating

Mainly seashore wetlands and chaste woodland and wetland areas. The preservation of traditional cultural landscapes is important as well. 5 History To the Nineteenth Century The Estonians settled in their present territory before the Christian era. They were mentioned by Tacitus 1st century A.D., who called them Aesti. In the 13th cent. the Danes and the German order of the Livonian Brothers of the Sword formed an alliance to conquer the pagan Estonian tribes. The Danes founded Reval (now Tallinn) in 1219 and introduced Christianity and Western European culture to Estonia. While Denmark took the northern part of Estonia, the knights occupied the southern portion. In 1346 the Danes sold their territory to the order, and Estonia remained under the rule of the knights and the Hanseatic merchants until the order's dissolution in 1561.

Jacques Louis David ja Prantsuse Revolutsioon

(Roberts, 1989, p.90) The first to be painted was Le Peletier de Saint-Fargeau, who was murdered in 1793. His murderer, a former royal guard, killed Le Peletier because he voted for the death of the king. David kept the painting in his family, who later sold it to Le Peletier's daughter. She found the painting to be disgraceful and destroyed it, with all existing copies and sketches. (Roberts, 1989, p.75, 76) Furthermore, in the context of the Revolution, the painting with a long sword displayed above Le Peletier brings forth the idea of killing the tyrant. With The death of Le Peletier David has the power to control the attitudes towards the death of the king and Le Peletier. (Vaughan,????????????????) By creating a martyr of Le Peletier, people found it easier to relate to the events and political actions that occurred at that time. The second martyr and the most famous among the three was Jean-Paul Marat. Marat was a

But the lover should love only one lady. 8.Medev.lit.in the rom. Mode. Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Nothing is known about the author, except that he probably wrote the 3 religious poems- Pearl, Patience and Purity. The dialect points to an origin in provincial England. The author was a most sophisticated and urbane writer, must have been contemporary of Chauser. S.G combines two plots: the beheading contest, in which 2 parties agree to an exchange of blows with a sword or ax, and the temptation, an attempted seduction of the hero by a lady. The motif of the green man's decapitation originates in very ancient folklore, probably in a vegetation myth in which the beheading would have been a ritual death that insured the return of spring to the earth. The poet studies how successfully Gawain, as a man wholly dedicated to Christian ideals, maintains those ideals. Rare combination- a comedy- even a satire- of manners and a profoundly Christian view of

At the end of the 17th century a priest, being drunk in a pub, had killed the maid in anger. After that he went to the Town Hall and confessed to the crime. Usually murderers were hanged on the Gallows Hill, but he was sentenced to honourable death by the hangman's sword, as he " had been affected ", when he committed the crime. The priest was beheaded in the square. Two stones are placed in the shape of the letter L. These are actually the remnants of a cross placed into the pavement to commemorate the place of his death.
