Survival horror Survival horror on lühidalt öeldes ellujäämisel põhinev õudusmäng. Survival horror`i peamõte põhineb mängija hirmutamisel traditsioonilises hirmuäratavas keskkonnas, mille teeb selliseks: ringi liikuvad zombie`d, verejäljed, verdtarretavad kriisked ja kottpimedus. Survival horror kasutab palju FPS-i põhiosi. Selle kategooria esimesteks mängudeks peetakse Alone in the Dark`i ja vähemal määral tuntuks saanud System Shock`i

“You can never go home again“ Lord of the flies

were killed by the savages. Both of them remained almost totally innocent during the novel and did not change so much and therefore if anyone had had the right to go home again then they would have had it undoubtably. It was sort of ironical that all the evil boys were able to go home and Piggy and Simon were not, but maybe author wanted to show how unfair life is and that is why good guys died, and other ones, in whom the survival instinct appeared more intensively, stayed alive. Although most of the boys were saved, they had changed so much that they actually returned to their homes as almost different persons, because turning into savages on the island left a mark on each of them. The quote in the end of chapter twelve ,,Ralph wept for the end of innocence, the darkness of man's heart, and the fall through the air of the true, wise friend

New Guinea (inglise keeles)

Guinea and the neighbouring islands is striking. /2/ Wildlife use and trade in New Guinea concerns several species that are in high demand either for local subsistence. As forests are opened up by logging and forest conversion for plantations, there is a risk that the scale of wildlife exploitation will increase significantly, with dramatic consequences for target species. /4/ The problem with trading wildlife Wildlife trade represents the second-biggest direct threat to species survival after habitat destruction. The most obvious problem associated with wildlife trade is that it can cause overexploitation to the point where the survival of a species hangs in balance. Historically, such overexploitation has caused species to become either severely threatened or extinct, and as human populations have expanded, demand for wildlife has only increased. /2/

My Super car - Ford Mustang

York World's Fair. It was Ford's most successful launch. Leading stylist John Najjar, who was a fan of the World War II Mustang fighter plane, suggested the name. The Mustang created the "pony car" class of American automobile sports car sedans with long hoods and short rear ends, gave rise to competitors such as GM's Camaro , AMC's Javelin, and Chrysler's. Mustangs grew larger and heavier with each model. Although some other pony cars have seen a survival, the Mustang is the only original pony car that has remained in production without interruption after fourty years of development and development. I like this car because these cars have very good look and powerful engines. One day I want to buy one for my own. And then I can show off with it. Tõnis Kruusement AT108

Capital Punishment Should be Abolished

Capital Punishment Should be Abolished Evidence suggests that the death penalty does not deter people from committing crimes. It is a cruel and cold blooded form of punishment and there have been instances where innocent people were sentenced to death and later found to be innocent. Why is it wrong? Capital punishment is a barbarous survival from a less enlightened and refined age; it is incongruous and incompatible with our present standard of civilization and humanity. It has been abolished by many states and countries, and we must look forward to the day when all the governments will follow this. It's a murder. The first question that comes to mind is, is it ethically acceptable to kill someone? When you execute a person, what is the difference between you and the criminal who has committed the crime of killing another individual

Global warming and natural disasters

Global warming and natural disasters The aim of this report is to talk about global warming and natural disasters. The disasters are getting more serious and they are mostly caused by global warming which people can affect. What should be done to make the situation better? Nowadays people have put material things above the beauty and survival of the Earth. Money and power are more important than, for example, the wonder of cool, fresh and clean spring water. The water has been polluted and the trees cut down, also the air is polluted with gasses. All of these things are dangerous for animals as they live in the forests. People do not care about the nature and they are not aware of the risks. Although these figures are depressing, things have improved recently. Scientists are aware

unfair or abusive fishing practices. 2 Many electronics and other products contain toxic chemicals and heavy metals that are difficult to dispose of and impossible to recycle. Greenpeace studies the effects of these chemicals on water, air and the human body and advocates substituting safer alternatives for dangerous materials. 3 Logging and clear-cutting of ancient forests drive species of plants and animals toward extinction and threaten the lives of people whose survival depends on the forest's resources. Greenpeace protects forests by educating the public about the origin of tropical woods, holding governments accountable for clear-cutting and even by camping in trees to stave off loggers. 4 The world maintains an armory of 30,000 nuclear weapons, and several countries actively pursue the technology to develop even more. Greenpeace's first mission protested nuclear testing, and the organization continues doing it.

Visions of a Sustainable World

Visions of a sustainable world Creating a shared vision of a sustainable and desirable future is the most critical task facing humanity today. This vision must be of a world that we all want, a world that provides permanent prosperity within the Earth’s biophysical constraints in a fair. At the centre of the idea of sustainability is an ethical imperative to pass on a undiminished future to our children. To bring our world toward sustainability — or any other goal — we need to take different kinds of steps, which require different kinds of knowledge, talent, skill, and work. Future will be sustainable when citizens are concerned enough about the environment that they want to make a difference. It will happen when diverse groups from industry, environment, schools, service clubs, business, governments & the public come together and work towards a common vision of sustainability for our communities - bal...

Money is not the Most Important Thing in Life

Perhaps the modern world enables the material thinking. The constant commercials, for instance, in bus stations, saying "the one who has more things when he/she dies is the winner", are good ways to brainwash people. That is why crowds rush to supermarkets and malls, when some ''shopping rally'' is announced to buy. By doing that, people start neglecting the valuable immaterial substance. From the point of view of the individual, money is vital for survival. Western society is structured in such a way that, without money, people are deprived of the possibilities to get proper nutrition, education possibilities and health care. On the other hand, many people claim that one of the factors in life, which is undoubtedly of greater importance than money health. It is said, health is 'a blessing that money cannot buy'. What is more, money is of little consolation to those who are suffering from health problems.

To Protect or not Protect Minor Languages

In my opinion minor languages are the things that make small countries differ from other countries and that is something that people can be proud of. That is a major thing that brings nations closer together and makes people friendlier to each other. It is always nice to see Estonian speakers in foreign countries. It makes you feel safe and secure, when you know that in case of emergency, the people that speak the same language stick together, because that is an instinct of survival for the mankind and if we changed that we might lose all the years of hard work, that have been put to developing the art of speech, but if we can manage the loss of languages and agree on one language, then that might not be a bad idea after all.

Tigers

The male tiger doesn't help her to raise the cubs. Male tigers also don't like being followed and they fight for their territory in order to mate several females. In fact male tigers are a huge danger to young cubs and one of their main enemies. Females also fight for territory but they do it so as to have more food. Mother tiger can track her cubs by scent. She gives her offspring killing lessons in a form of games because playing is a crucial part of survival. Cubs also grow fast and they need regular food. Raising cubs is very demanding. There is also a tiger police in this National Park. The aim of this police is to protect tigers from poachers. Locals respect tigers and they see them as the guardians of the forest. Female tiger's cubs grow fast and they are old enough to eat meat. At the moment it is not a problem because there is plenty of food because it is deer mating season and the deer are less alert to danger

DOES MONEY BUY EVERYTHING?

We use it for education which helps us to live a better life. But does money buy everything, especially happines? We live in a material world and most of our lives depend on materials for happiness and comfort. All of these materials have to be purchased and so on a very basic level, without money, you cannot survive, at least not very comfortably. This is the very first level of money buying happiness, money can buy things necessary for survival and without life, there is no happiness. Some people say that they have money but they are not still pleased, the reason is that we're always spending on the wrong things, and in particular that we're always spending it on ourselves, you should stop thinking about which product to buy for yourself, and try giving some of it to other people instead. On the other hand there are many things money can not buy. Money can buy a big house, but not a home. Money can buy a high position, but not a

own home territories. Specification in nature did not require dramatic jumps, but could emerge out of gradually widening variation. Darwin examined variation under domestication to demonstrate that the deliberate selection of breeders could produce varieties as markedly different from the root stock as the varieties found in nature. Deliberate selection through breeding was obviously a much faster and "efficient" process than natural selection through differential rates of survival in the face of environmental pressures, but the end result would be essentially the same, the variety of a given species that was most adapted to a given environment would gradually replace the root stock in that environment. The theory of evolution through natural selection would most certainly have appeared, even without Darwin, it would have appeared at the same time, since it was Wallace's independent development of the theory that prompted his and Darwin's joint paper

Natural resources - our treasure

Natural resources-our treasure Natural resources are land or raw materials like minerals, fluids, gases, organic matters and also woods, groundwater, animals and so on, in other words it's everything that human hasn't created. These resources are also used in industry. We get natural resources from the environment. Many of them are essential for our survival while others are used for satisfying our wants. Renewable resources: Some natural resources can be reproduced within a few years or decades. These are called renewable resources. Solar radiation, wind and hydroelectricity, are perpetual resources that are in no danger of a lack of long-term availability. Some natural renewable resources such as geothermal power, fresh water, timber, and biomass must be carefully managed to avoid exceeding the worlds capability to displace them.

trip at the last minute, and the fact that several passengers travelled under aliases for various reasons and were therefore double-counted on the casualty lists. The death toll has been put at between 1,490 and 1,635 people. Less than a third of those aboard Titanic survived the disaster. Some survivors died shortly afterwards; injuries and the effects of exposure caused the deaths of several of those brought aboard Carpathia. The figures show stark differences in the survival rates of the different classes aboard Titanic. Although only 3 percent of first-class women were lost, 54 percent of those in third class died. Similarly, five of six first-class and all second-class children survived, but 52 of the 79 in third class perished. The last living survivor, Millvina Dean from England, who at only nine weeks old was the youngest passenger on board, died aged 97 on 31 May 2009.

The Great Guild/Suurgild

In 1989, the museum was named from History Museum of the Estonian SSR to the Estonian History Museum. Many important exhibitions that introduced the contemporary history of Estonia were held in the late 1980s and early 1990s like “Tricoloured Estonia”. The Great Guild Grand Hall has remained same. But the smaller hall has been divided into separate rooms. In 2010-2011, the Great Guild Hall was renovated. In June 2011, a new permanent exhibition titled the spirit of survival was opened. Pet therapy

In New York, horses, cows, cats and dogs were recruited to heal soldiers who had been wounded during World War II. These animals comforted the traumatized and helped the battle-scarred to avoid becoming obsessed with their injuries.  During the 1970's, scientific interest was rekindled by a study that had originally set out to examine the connection between social conditions and heart disease. Quite by chance, researchers discovered that the survival rate of people who owned a pet was significantly greater than those who didn't. At first, they treated these findings with suspicion, but the more research that was done, the more conclusive the proof became. People with pets really were living longer.  It was discovered that stroking a cat or dog lowers a human being’s blood pressure and reduces anxiety. Just having an animal around you can lower your heart rate. Cats and

Book report/review "The Snow Child"

I believe that this happened so that the couple would feel a little bit happy and blessed, even though the girl Fauna never really was their biological child. The main characters, Jack and Mable, are very humble and loving. I felt like Mable was a bit more emotional and complicated than Jack. She was very naive in a way. Jack, on the other hand, was a very masculine type. He was a hunter and had a very strong character. He was responsible for the survival. They both completed each other. In my opinion the book was very enchanting and beautiful. The way the author describes Alaska, is very magical, because she has lived there her whole life. When I was reading the book I felt like I had been to Alaska, the writer really knows how to use the right adjectives to make the reader feel the cold and dark Alaskan winter. In my view, the book achieved its goal perfectly. The author knew exactly what kind of a

The importance of the rainforest

It is impossible to capture on film, to describe in words, or to explain to those who have never had the awe-inspiring experience of standing in the heart of a primary rainforest. Rainforests have evolved over millions of years to turn into the incredibly complex environments they are today. Rainforests represent a store of living and breathing renewable natural resources that for eons, by virtue of their richness in both animal and plant species, have contributed a wealth of resources for the survival and well-being of humankind. These resources have included basic food supplies, clothing, shelter, fuel, spices, industrial raw materials, and medicine for all those who have lived in the majesty of the forest. However, the inner dynamics of a tropical rainforest is an intricate and fragile system. Everything is so interdependent that upsetting one part can lead to unknown damage or even destruction of the whole. Sadly, it has taken only a century of human intervention to destroy what nature

responses, which are the inverse of exponential responses; the loudness and frequency of sound are perceived logarithmically, even with very faint stimulus, within the limits of perception. This is the reason that exponentially increasing the brightness of visual stimuli is perceived by humans as a smooth (linear) increase, rather than an exponential increase. This has survival value. Generally it is important for the organisms to respond to stimuli in a wide range of levels, from very low levels, to very high levels, while the accuracy of the estimation of differences at high levels of stimulus is much less important for survival. http://www.bact.wisc.edu/Microtextbook/modules.php? op=modload&name=Sections&file=index&req=viewarticle&artid=10&page=1 (LOE LÄBI!!

Kiindumusteooria

Kiindumusteooria sai populaarseks pärast ettekannet Maailma tervishoiu organisatsioonist, 1951. aastal, millal John Bowlby pakkus: "What is believed to be essential for mental health is that the infant and young child should experience a warm, intimate and continuous relationship with his mother... The long period of helpless infancy of the human species entails serious risks, so it is of crucial importance to survival, that the child and its mother should become attached." See tähendab, et laps peab tundma sooja ja jätkuvat suhet emaga. Vastasel juhul, toob see tõsisemaid probleeme lapse arengus. Kiindumus, seotus (attachment) - emotsionaalne side kahe isiku vahel, ema ja lapse suhte kvaliteedi näitaja · Emotsionaalne kohalolek · Soojuse väljendamine · Tundlikkus, reageerimine lapse vajadustele · Aktsepteerimine John Bowlby tööd 1950. aastate jooksul, olid alguses...

Water Purification

The water then passes through a relatively fine sand layer in a filter bed to filter it. However, the water is actually purified through the decomposition action of microorganisms that exist on the surface of the sand layer. This method is limited to use with raw water that normally contains only small amounts of impurities. Its filtration rate is also slower than that of rapid filtration. Even so, it is an excellent method in that it purifies water through natural decomposition. Water Survival Techniques If your water becomes contaminated and you don't have bottled water, you can purify it in a few different ways. If it is cloudy, first filter it through clean cloths or allow it to settle and then pour off the clear water. Then, you can boil the water for one minute to kill most disease- causing organisms.

The Historic Centre (Old Town) of Tallinn

buildings are being refurbished for touristic or public use and thus subject to increased life safety and accessibility requirements. The authentic setting of the inscribed World Heritage property includes some significant architecture from the late 19th century and early 20th century including theatres and schools as well as a number of exceptional wooden suburbs which form an integral part of the historic, urban fabric round Tallinn Old Town. Until recently the survival of the wooden quarters was threatened by unclear ownership in the years following independence and in a general indifference to the qualities they offered residents. This latter could be seen in a lack of maintenance, and inappropriate upgrading and repair approaches. Today however the situation is turned around and these wooden areas are much valued, and adequate measures are in place to maintain their authenticity.

Constructivism theory

is what States make of it: The Social construction of power politics." Does the absence of centralized political authority force states to play competitive power politics? Can international conditions overcome this logic and under what conditions? What in anarchy is given and immutable and what is amenable to change? The general neorealist and neoliberal answer to these questions is that "anarchies are necessarily `self-help' systems" in which states have to struggle for their security and survival due to the absence of a security-providing central order as well as a lack of collective security guarantees; a condition which gives rise to the "inherently competitive dynamic of security dilemma and collective action problem." In answering so, therefore, Wendt contends, neorealist and neoliberal scholars of international relations ignore "questions of identity- and interest-formation."Wedndt's argument: [S]elf-help and power politics do not
