The most important cultural festival in the run up to Christmas is the two weeks Black Nights film festival, which begins in late
November and offers new feature films from around the world, competitions for student films, films for children, and animated
shorts.
Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival is a unique event combining main feature film festival with the subfestivals of animated
films, student films and children/youth films. The festival aims to present Estonian audiences a comprehensive selection of
world cinema in all its diversity with the emphasis on European films. Festival tries to provide friendly atmosphere for
interaction between the audience, Estonian filmmakers and their colleagues from abroad.
