Ülevaade loetud kirjandusest

Ülevaade loetud kirjandusest. 14.02.2018 1)Aune, Kristin. 2011. Much less religious, a little more spiritual: the religious and spiritual views of third-wave feminists in the UK. Feminist Review No. 97, religion & spirituality, 32-55 Sekulariseerumist käsitlevaks artikliks valisin Kristin Aune uurimuse Suurbritannia ja Põhja-Iiri Ühendkuningriigi feministide religioossetest vaadetest.

Love medicine

Louise Erdich. This book was Publisher in 1984. I really enjoyed reading this book, seeing events from different point of views was facinating and made reading interesting. I chose this book because of its interesting title. Native American government policy is a recurrent topic, especially because the Kashpaw family is (according to Nector) “respected as the last hereditary leaders of this tribe. Loss of a cultural identity and Native American spirituality characterizes and separates the two generations in Love Medicine: “They gave you worthless land to start with and then they chopped it out from under your feet. They took your kids away and stuffed the English language in their mouth.” The generations that Erdrich covers experience that loss of culture. The youngest family members (or, perhaps those who attend American schools) are socialized in an American tradition rather than a Native American tradition

Dover Beach

In the second stanza, he compares his train of though with Sophokles's, who is also known to have sat on the beach while thinking about life. According to the author, Sophokles had come to the conclusion that life is miserable, and a grim thought now comes to the mind of the author, too. Now speaking more to himself rather than his lover, he begins to ponder on "the sea of faith" and how it once used to round the earth, with which he probably means that there was once a time when faith and spirituality had a great influence on life. He seems to yearn for a time like that as he describes the slowly distancing sound of his "sea of faith", the way it gradually disappears, leaving behind only a memory. Perhaps the author tries to raise awareness on how the rapid industrialization and progress in science moves man too far away from what he also conciders importaint his roots and his faith. In the final stanza, the lover is addressed again. The author solemnly (a bit desperately even)

Inglise keelne kirjand Stendhal-ist

There are subtly drawn portraits of the naive and idealistic young Fabrice del Dongo (notably at the Battle of Waterloo); of his courageous and passionate aunt, the Duchess de Sanseverina; of her lover, the benevolent Machiavellian statesman Count Mosca; and of the young and innocent Clélia Conti, the daughter of Fabrice's jailer, who falls in love with the handsome prisoner. Passion in all its forms is the novel's recurrent theme. And once again, the young hero learns the deeper lessons of spirituality, love, and freedom within the liberating confines of a prison cell. Perhaps the most remarkable aspect of The Charterhouse of Parma is its highly sophisticated psychology. Rejecting traditional notions of a fixed and determined psychological makeup, Stendhal never defines his characters and instead depicts individuals in the process of becoming. His literary devices (his authorial comments, the improvisational tone of his narration)

The Origins of American Literature

non-figurative. The poetry of Whitman's contemporary, Emily Dickinson (1830-1886), was even more strikingly original. Born in New England, Dickinson spent most of her life in quiet isolation detached from events of her time. Her poems are extremely personal and intimate. Recurring themes include nature and death and, although she had rejected orthodox religion, much of her work contains a strong sense of spirituality. Many of her poems, however, are ironic and witty suggesting that their creator was a woman of great humour. Dickinson's style was completely unconventional and showed a total disregard for standard poetic forms. Her technique is so innovative that her work was considered unacceptable for publication. Apart from a few poems, most of her work was published posthumously. Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) Life Family background She was born in Amherst, Massachusetts. Her father was

Sissejuhatus religioonisotsioloogiasse

Sissejuhatus religioonisotsioloogiasse Religioonisotsioloogia (mis toimub religioosses mõttes ühiskonnas?) - teadusharu, mis uurib religiooni kui ühiskondlikku nähtust. Osa sotsioloogiast, kasutab sotsioloogia meetodeid. Valgustusajastul tuli religioon kasutusele üldmõistena ( - teadmised religioonist kasvasid). Sest ajast saadik on religiooni püütud defineerida. Religiooni defineerida on väga raske. Mõnes keeles, nt araabia keeles polegi mõistet, mis sõnale ,,religioon" sisuliselt vastaks. Indias religioon = karma (seadus, komme) erineb lääne mõistes religioonist. Religiooni mõiste mitmekesisus on sotsioloogiline nähtus. Religiooni peab seda uurides määratlema, et teised uuritavast aru saaksid (et nad mõistaksid, mida uuriti). Definitsiooni sõnastamine tegevusplaanina, mitte tõena. Religiooni mõisted kui tööriistad, mis uurida võimaldavad. Uurimisstrateegiad et valmistada ette mõttekäigud ja kavandada uurim...

ESTONIAN SYMPHONIC MUSIC. THE FIRST CENTURY 1896-1996.

Estonian symphonic music: this is a wide world of sound, full of contradictory artistic ideas, strivings, explorations, discoveries, success and failure. This is the musical chronicle of an epoch already lived. Naturally, one person cannot grasp it totally with all its multiple manifestations: it seems impossible. Therefore we have to have certain reservations when evaluating the works of composers who are still writing. There is no temporal distance between music and the listener. The spirituality and pithiness of music opening up in the course of time pronounce the last word on either the value or worthlessness of any musical composition. I am writing about Estonian symphonists and symphonism. What do I mean by this term? For example, one can speak of the symphonism of Eduard Tubin, Artur Kapp and Arvo Pärt. In its best and exact sense symphonism means the creation of a sublime philosophical idea in music in an intense extensive and developing form. Symphonism

that level. They equate truth with thought, and as they are completely identified with thought (their mind), they claim to be in sole possession of the truth in a n unconscious attempt to protect their identity. They don’t realize the limitations of thought. Unless you believe (think) exactly as they do, you are wrong in their eyes, and in the not-too-distant past, they would have felt justified in killing you for that. And some still do, even now. The new spirituality, the transformation of consciousness, is arising to a large extent outside of the structures of the existing institutionalized religions. There were always pockets of spirituality even in mind-dominated religions, although the institutionalized hierarchies felt threatened by them and often tried to suppress them. A large-scale opening of spirituality outside of the religious structures is an entirely new development. In the

Briti kirjandus 20.-21. sajand kordamisküsimused vastustega

Darkness visible 1979. Milton. Paradise lost. A sea of fire that gives no light, but rather makes darkness visible. Golding: investigation of nature of good and evil. Images of fire, mutilation, pain. Beginning: small child 'horribly burned. Horribly disfigured'. Walking out of flames of London Blitz, building a burning bush, two pillars of lighted smoke, child: born from the sheer agony of a burning city. The novel narrates a struggle between good and evil, using naïveté, sexuality and spirituality throughout. A dark and complex novel, it centres on Matty - introduced in chapter one as a naked child emerging horribly disfigured from a bomb explosion during the London Blitz in World War II. He becomes a ward of the state and is put into a Catholic boarding school, where he is shunned by the other children and sexually abused by one of his teachers, Mr. Pedigree. When he grows up, however, his selfless kindness and mysterious persona attract a devoted following of people

Magistritöö Hea ja kurja küsimus Carl Gustav Jungi käsitluses

Comparing Jung`s vision with probable sources of influence, turns out that his worldview is syncretistic indeed. He is rigtly considered being subtly as one of the founding fathers of the New Age movement. Founding and blending different elements from many religious systems of the world Jung considers all of these in psychological sense justified and relevant. After Freud`s and Adler`s critical views Jung may be appreciated at least for highlighting importance of spirituality in human experience in totally new and refreshing way. 107 Kasutatud allikad ja kirjandus Kirjandus: 1.
