How does virtual communication influence our behaviour

How does virtual communication influence our behaviour and relationships? Our world is changing drastically. The vast array of devices which allow us to communicate with each other, changes alongside with it. People have tried various ways of communicating with each other. Some of them have been successful breakthroughs, other rendered obsolete for their complexity and lack of usefulness. Now is the year 2010 and the Internet is everywhere. Many people carry it around in their pockets and some people cannot live a moment of their life without it. The grand amount of information, available for them on their fingertips, addicts them. Information is power and that is why people nowadays want to be everywhere, know everything and see everyone at once. Not many take the time to sit down, grab a pen and a piece of paper and write a letter for someone. A letter filled with thoughts, emotions and personality i...

Australia

Australia has an active tradition of music, ballet and theatre. The Sydney Opera House is one of the most famous 20th century buildings, and one of the most famous performing arts venues in the world. Australian Aboriginal music, dance and art have a great influence on Australian visual and performing arts today. Over the past 50 years, Australian culture has been strongly influenced by American popular culture (particularly television and cinema), large-scale immigration from non-English-speaking countries, and Australia's Asian neighbours. Sport is an important part of Australian culture thanks to a climate that favours outdoor activities. At an international level, Australia has particularly strong teams in cricket, field hockey, netball, rugby league, rugby union, and performs well in cycling and swimming. Australia has participated in all the summer Olympic Games of the modern era, and all Commonwealth Games. Australia hosted the 1956 and 2000 Summer Olympics. The

stocks in the Atlantic Region. The British and French both sent explorers to those areas, and both countries were interested in creating settlements there. France and Britain, however, didn't have good relations. They fought over colonies and fur trade. Their different religions also caused tension. In 1756, a 7-year war broke out between the two countries. The British were victorious, and renamed the French-speaking region in their territory Quebec. The French influence continues to be felt in Canada. The French there were allowed to keep their religion, law system and language. Quebec was then divided into the English and French-speaking colony. Eventually, those colonies became the provinces of Ontario and Quebec. Today, more than five million French-speaking descendants of those settlers live in Quebec. In 1867, four colonies (Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia) were united into the

Names In The English-Speaking Countries

Names In The English-Speaking Countries Naming children has always been important to families and authorities. A long time ago, when people lived in small communities, only one name was given to a baby. As the population increased, there were too many people living in the same place and having the same name. Between the twelfth and sixteenth centuries, depending on the part of Britain, families began to add an extra name to baby's first name. Many surnames were given after a person's father or mother. In the Middle Ages the name of a newborn baby was not said out before christening. It was a widespread belief that witches and fairies used the names of their future victims in their spells. In some parts of Britain people used to call each other by nicknames in order to avoid the sound of their real names reaching the ears of cruel fairies. I think it's pretty weird to call each other by nicknames because of cruel faries.

Philosophy Today The Great Divide Most contemporary philosophers follow one of two approaches "Continental" philosophy "Analytic" philosophy Continental philosophy is more influential on the European continent Analytic philosophy is predominant in the major research universities in the English-speaking world Analytic Philosophy Analytic philosophy developed from attempts in the early 20th century to make our concepts precise. The model of this procedure was science. Emphasis in contemporary analytic philosophy is on language and meaning, and meaning is understood as a relation between language and objective reality. Thus, understanding the structure of language is what reveals the structure of reality. Continental Philosophy

English is the only foreign language worth learning

English is the only foreign language worth learning Many people think that English is the only language what is worth learning. I strongly disagree. First of all, there is so many countries , which have their own language. I do not see a problem talking in multiple languages. It only helps us develop and communicate with so many other language speaking people. Intercourse is what connects us, but to communicate with others we need to understand one another. What is more, we do not need to be so similar. Speaking some other language makes us more intriguing. Foreign languages are like crayons, all in different colours. Imagine if all the crayons would be in the same colour. If we paint a picture, we need a variety of colours to make the picture interesting. That is why we need to learn not only English, but many others languages too.

How were the terms `Métis' and `half-breed' traditionally used? Métis French-speaking and Catholic. Half-breed English-speaking and Protestant. Half-breed is a term used almost exclusively by the federal government throughout the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Race served to distinguish between populations or groups when describing an individual who was of mixed ethnicity or "blood." The term has historically been used to identify people that are now often called `Métis' in Canada. Many people back then considered the `half-breed' to be a degenerate, inferior sort of human.

Canada - history and provinces.

First attempts of colonization failed. In 1604, French nobleman and a mapmaker named Samuel de Champlain established first permanent French settlement in the New World on an island. This area was called Acadia. When they moved to more sheltered harbour, the settlement was called Port Royal. By 1607, France wanted to establish a new French settlement along the St. Lawrence River. French went there and came back and in 1610, some of them returned. They were the ancestors of the French speaking Acadian people in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick today. Champlain is also known as the "Father of New France", as he picked out the location of the first French settlement along the St. Lawrence River. The settlement was called Quebec. Most of the settlers died because of the winter and although Champlain tried to get more settlers, his efforts failed. By 1663, the population of New France was still very small. The settlers were trading and not farming or making settlements

Solomon Islands

miles (27,556 square kilometers) of land. There are a total of 992 islands in the Solomon Islands History When Spanish explorer Álvaro de Mendaña de Neira visited the Solomon Islands in 1568, he found some gold at the mouth, he erroneously thought that this could be one of the locations in which King Solomon (the Israelite monarch) obtained gold for his temple in Jerusalem. Mendaña then named the islands after King Solomon--Solomon Islands. Papuan-speaking hunter-gatherers from New Guinea were settling the southern and eastern Solomon Islands by 25, 000 BC. They were the only inhabitants for thousands of years, until Austronesian-speaking proto-Melanesians began moving in around 4000 BC. Most people lived in small villages on tribal lands, practicing shifting cultivation, fishing, hunting, carving, weaving and canoe building. They worshipped ancestors. They were also head-hunters and cannibalism was common. Demography
