Early life
Elizabeth Alexandra Mary was born at 17 Briton Street, in
Mayfair, London, on 21 April 1926. Her father was Prince
Albert, Duke of York and her mother was the Duchess of
York Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon

World War II
Elizabeth was thirteen years old when World War II broke
out, and she and her younger sister, Princess Margaret, were
evacuated to Windsor Castle.
In 1940, Princess Elizabeth made her first radio broadcast
during the BBC's Children's Hour, addressing other children
who had been evacuated. .
Crown
She was crowned in 1953. Her 60 years on the throne was celebrated
in June 2012 with the Diamond Jubilee. She later became the longest-
reigning monarch in British history.
