When the war broke out, the Estonian economy was totally subjected to the needs of the Russian war machine. About 100 000 men were forced into the Russian army; 10 000 of them were killed. In the Russian-German conflict the Estonian politicians supported the Russian side, because unification with Germany meant in their opinion the disappearance of the nation through Germanisation. In return for their loyalty, the Estonians expected the Russian government to give them more rights and the long-awaited self-government. The Russian government, however, did not trust the Baltic nations and suspected them (for which there was good cause) of planning to split away from Russia. The emergence of Estonian independence On 15 March 1917, after Nicholas II renounced the throne and the Romanoff dynasty collapsed, the Provisional government in Russia declared a new course towards establishing a...

The Medieval period

Now England had a Norman king William the Conquer. Norman kings ruled in England less than 100 years, during that time Normans brought England closer to the mainstream of European society. William introduced the feudalism. Under it, land was divided among noble overlords, or barons. Knights pledged their wealth and services to the overlords. In return overlords let them use their land. At the lowest end of the social scale were the serfs, peasants bound to the land. In 1154 the Norman time was at the end. In 1154 Henry II started to reign. Henry II was the king who increased royal power at the expense of nobles. His desire to control the Roman Catholic Church in England led to the murder of T. Becket. Richard I has become a model of a true knight. John(Richards brother) gained a weak, even villainous ruler. 1215 he signe...

It is known as a struggle between Parliament and the throne. 1625 came to rule Charles I, who was proved to be politically stubborn. In 1642 civil war broke out between the Cavaliers and the Roundheads. Oliver Cromwell was a puritan who brought the Roundheads to the victory and temporarily ended the monarchy in 1649. Charles I was beheaded. Oliver Cromwell ruled England for 9 violent years. The return of the oldest son of Charles I in 1660 is called the Restoration. In 1660 the Royal Society of London was established to promote scientific research. In 1688 the Glorious Revolution was without bloodshed or violence. The 1689 Bill of Rights limited monarch's powers. Parliamtary government was established. 1665 the Great Plague, 1666 the Great Fire....

Alustuseks on seal käsk 'help' abiks. Tekst saadetakse ridade kaupa. Iga rea lõpus on reavahetus. Viimasel real on lihtsalt punkt ja reavahetus. Seisundi e. olukorra vastusega vastatakse saadud käsule. 13. Interneti kaugterminali protokollid TELNET. Andmevahetuse kirjeldus ja pordid....

Education

Whether one views the experience as a problem or a challenge, is to a large extent determined by the action one takes towards the experience, whether a reactive (negative) posture based on Crisis Management or a proactive (positive) process, based Foresight Management. Crisis Management in this context is a style of management that takes a reactive posture towards unexpected change, by using short term interventions in order to return operations to normal-the way they were before the crisis. Thus if the experience is perceived to be a problem, then the approach that is automatically taken is that of Problem Solving, in which the principal question is: "Who owns the problem?" Such an approach leads to the process of finding whom to blame. Why? Because the goal in this approach is to solve the problem as quickly as possible in order to get back to normal operation....

The Count of Monte Cristo

The Count says to Albert: "Incredible but true. However, for some time I've been feeling like you, that it is impossible for me to go on being ignorant of the capital of the intelligent world. Furthermore, I might have made this indispensable journey if I'd known someone who could introduce me into Paris society. Now your offer has decided me." (p. 133) This quote shows how the Count does favors for people so that that person owes the Count a favor in return . When it is put in context, it seems like the Count just uses people for his own gains and doesn't really care about them. The Count is almost done carrying out his plans when he starts to feel like he's really gone too far. When the Count realizes that it's his fault that Villefort's wife and son is dead, he really feels guilty. At this point the Count reveals to Villefort that he is Dantes. Villefort goes mad right after Dantes...

Mõtteterad

Calm before the storm set it off, and the sun burnt out tonight. Is it worth the pain, with no one to blame ? but no hhe never called . In a perfect world, a broken heart is fixed . Well baby I don't need you, you're fading in my rearview. You'll never close my eyesYou'll never close my eyes and watch me die.

Hemingway A Farewell to Arms (overview)

Plot Overview Lieutenant Frederic Henry is a young American ambulance driver serving in the Italian army during World War I. At the beginning of the novel, the war is winding down with the onset of winter, and Henry arranges to tour Italy. The following spring, upon his return to the front, Henry meets Catherine Barkley, an English nurse's aide at the nearby British hospital and the love interest of his friend Rinaldi. Rinaldi, however, quickly fades from the picture as Catherine and Henry become involved in an elaborate game of seduction. Grieving the recent death of her fiancé, Catherine longs for love so deeply that she will settle for the illusion of it. Her passion, even though pretended, wakens a desire for emotional interaction in Henry,...

Hemingway A Farewell to Arms (themes, motifs, symbols)

Games and Divertissement - Henry and Catherine begin flirting with each other in order to forget personal troubles. Flirting, which Henry compares to bridge, allows Henry to "drop the war" and diverts Catherine's thoughts from the death of her fiancé. Likewise, the horse races that Catherine and Henry attend enable them to block out thinking of Henry's return to the front and of their imminent separation. Ironically, Henry and Catherine's relationship becomes the source of suffering from which Henry needs diversion. Henry cannot stand to be away from Catherine, and while playing pool with Count Greffi takes his mind off of her, the best divertissement turns out to be the war itself. When Catherine instructs him not to think about her when they are apart, Henry replies, "That's how I worked it at the front. But there was something to do then...
