Weather and Climate
There are also two distinct seasonal variations. In the southern half of
the State we observe four seasons - summer, autumn, winter and
spring, while in the north there are just two - the 'wet' and the 'dry'.
Flora and Fauna
In Western Australia, there are more than 70 national parks and marine
parks, and countless State forest recreation sites, covering an area of
more than 20 million hectares.
Kangaroos, Quokkas and Kookaburras
There are two main species - western grey kangaroos
(the most common) and the famous red kangaroo or
"Blue Flyer".
Kookaburras are the largest members of the
kingfisher family.
The Quokka (Setonix brachyurus), the only member
of the genus Setonix, is a small macropod about the
size of a domestic cat.
Dolphins, Whales and Sea Life
Ningaloo Marine Park : It's one of the few places in the world where you
can swim with the world's biggest fish - the whale shark.
