Agatha Christie "Partners in crime"

Tommy and Tuppence like to role play. Every time they have a costumer they parody all kinds of famous fictional detectives from Dr Thorndyke to Hercule Poirot. Tommy is Poirot in the last chapter when he catches the spy. All mini stories were great but my favourite one was called The Unbreakable Alibi. A man comes to them with a request to outsmart his future wife. The woman had told him that she had been in two places at the same time and she had unbreakables alibis to prove it. Tommy and Tuppence found it very difficult to prove that she was not in one of the places. Finally, they discovered that she had a twin sister. I chose this book because I had not heard about these two before. At first I thought that it cannot be as good as Miss Marple or Hercule Poirot stories but it is. I think I like it even more than the other stories by Agatha Christie I have read because the characters are very lively and humorous. The book consists of many mysteries

occupied territories. concentration camps (extreme work under starvation condition) & extermination camps (mass executions, primarily by gassing). THE DENIAL OF THE HOLOCAUST `'Holocaust denial'' negates the established facts of the happenings in the holocaust. There is an assumption by deniers that if they can just find one tiny crack in the Holocaust structure, it can all be disproved. But the holocaust is not a single event that a single fact can prove or disprove. The holocaust was a collection of events that took place in several locations. The evidence is built up on several pieces of data that agree on one conclusion. THE DENIAL OF THE HOLOCAUST There are written documents, eyewitness testimonies, photographs, the camps themselves and inferential evidence that all prove the happenings of the Holocaust to be true. The deniers pick out what suits their theory and ignore the rest.

themselves and they could do same mistakes over and over again. Then it seems right again to punish them with the death penalty. Of course from economical side capital punishment is better than maintaining serious criminals at public expence. Because it is quite expensive to feed and cover those lifetime prisnoners. But the main reason why I agree that capital punishment should be abolished is that when somebody is convicted guilty and later some evidences that prove his or her innosence will come out, but capital punishment is already executed, then it is impossible to bring that human back. It is the worst that can happen.

For and against capital punishment

For and against capital punishment Capital punishment as death penalty is the killing of a person by judical process for retribution and incapacitation. And it has advantages and disadvantages. The main advantage of capital punishment is that it permanently removes the worst criminals from society and should prove much safer for the rest of us. It is self- evident that dead criminals cannot commit any further crimes, either within prison or after escaping or being released from it. Another advantage of capital punishment is that country can have minor costs in prison. In other words, the country may very well better spend our (limited) resources on the old, the young and the sick etc., rather than on the long term imprisonment of murderers, rapists, etc.

People these days are thinking less and drinking more

"People these days are thinking less and drinking more'' Nowadays, alcoholism is rising and this is a big problem not only amongst teenagers but also amongst adults. When there is a problem or a difficult situation people do not think how can they solve it. They think, "Where is my bottle of vodka?'' There are several possible solutions to this problem. What clearly needs to be done is to encourage people to handle their problems without using alcohol. Firstly, we have to teach them that thinking clearly is more effective than thinking with an alcohol bottle. Secondly, we should tell them that they have got supportive friends whom they can rely on. Another suggestion is that the media should not promote drinking. Commercials are very effective with teenagers because commercials are very colourful and memorable. Also, when teenagers see some beautiful advertisement with lots of people who are having a party with drin...

School Uniform

School Uniform is a bad thing To start with, school uniforms have many good sides for students. However, uniforms also have bad sides which are particulary involved with financial problems. Each and every person in the world is different, and by making people dress the same, they can't express themselves fairly the way that they would like to. Having school uniforms is not necessary, and there are many reasons to prove it. Some people say that wearing a school uniform stop the bullying, because all children wear the same clothes. But it's not true - the bullys and other evil student will always find another reason to make somebody feel bad - like glasses, pimples or overweight. Second reason that schools have school uniforms is because of the gangs. They believe, when all of the children wear the same clothes, they will not have any gangs. But

When I'm holding my camera, then the world is totally different and I don't recognize myself at all. Such a good feeling. You don't have to own really good camera to get a good photo. Very often people think, that when I don't have really expensive technique, then it's impossible to get good photo. I am good example to prove, that it isn't like that. I have small red digital camera. I have learned the programs and now it's easy to use it. It all depends on photographer. My favorites are nature photographs. You don't have to deal with the financial stress of planning a wedding- the dress, the rings the vows and so on. You will never have to deal with divorce, ever. No last name drama. Bu t don't get me wrong. For many people getting married is a symbol of love and it is extremely important to them but i do not see the point of getting married and paying money to prove your love. To conclusion, the Happiness doesn't depend on the events, happiness depends upon ourselves.

The role of television in our society

Having a television set in the home has become very essential in todey's society. We depend on it to entertain us with its sitcoms and to inform us about current world issues. The problem is that sometimes what we hear or see on television is not always accurate or correct. Sometimes news stories give us the wrong information and we believe that it is true because that is being said on television. They may give you a story, but they may leave out some details to prove their point or to make the story more interesting. We are also the most ill-informed people because we tend to want to watch the entertainment shows and not tune it to the news broadcasts so we are not informed about what is going on in our world. We complain that there aren't enough intelligent in the world and yet we are being misinformed by what is supposed to be our main source of information. Television is powerful enough to make our shopping easier. Actually, it is makeing us lazier

Do you consider yourself more functionalist or more conflict theorist?

Do you consider yourself more functionalist or more conflict theorist? Please explain why? Functionalism and conflict theory are very different views of society, but they are not exactly opposites. Both have arguments, that make people think about the society they live in and both have theorists who critize each other. In my opinion, none of the theories are completely wrong but I do tend to agree with people on the conflict theory side. Firstly, functionalism ignores inequality and focuses too much on the positive functions in society. For example racism, functionalists will say that it must be imporant in order to exist as long as it has but in my opinion that sounds quite doubtful. The most problematic part about racism is above all the tension and conflict which comes with it. Seems to me, that functionalists ignore the negative sides which society has on people. Secondly, I agree ...

A person who has committed a crime loses his/her right to be

Second, another area, where we can find inequality, is at work. When looking for a job, first of all, people without criminal past are chosen first. Employers tend to choose their employees regarding to the past, because they are careful about a person they choose to work with. You should be able to trust a person, to rely on him/her and who can value honesty and work ethics. Quite frequently people who committed a crime aren't even given a chance to prove, can they can also be valuable employees. In conclusion, it is hard to be treated as equal, if you have committed a crime. It is a formed standard, which doesn't seem to change much during the years. A person just has to contribute hard at work and with people to earn his/her position in the society. It is not pleasant, but still there is always a chance for everyone. Inna Lõhmus, TABB 051828

Speculation about Shakespeare

The document is now lost, however, and scholars differ as to its authenticity.[178] In 1591 the authorities reported that John Shakespeare had missed church "for fear of process for debt", a common Catholic excuse.[179] In 1606 the name of William's daughter Susanna appears on a list of those who failed to attend Easter communion in Stratford.[179] Scholars find evidence both for and against Shakespeare's Catholicism in his plays, but the truth may be impossible to prove either way.[180] Sexuality Main article: Sexuality of William Shakespeare Few details of Shakespeare's sexuality are known. At 18, he married the 26-year-old Anne Hathaway, who was pregnant. Susanna, the first of their three children, was born six months later on 26 May 1583. However, over the centuries readers have pointed to Shakespeare's sonnets as evidence of his love for a young man. Others read the same passages as the expression of intense friendship rather than sexual love

4. Which are precepts of Descartes' method? Only accept what is self-evident. Analysis. Synthesis. Enumeration. 5. Descartes will only accept one specific kind of ideas: which and why? He will only accept clear and distinct ideas that are indubitable. Because the complex ideas could then be constructed using the simple ideas. 6. How does Descartes call his method and why is it not skeptical? Methodic doubt. Because the goal of this doubt is not to be skeptical but to prove that some things can not be doubted. 7. “I think, therefore I am”. What does this phrase means? If I think, I cannot doubt my own existence. 8. What kind of idea is for Descartes the idea of God? What does it mean? Innate idea. If God is God, he should be perfect. 9. How does Descartes prove the existence of God? The fact that I have an idea of God implies its existence. Also unicorns 10. Why God's truthfulness is important for Descartes? If God is the truth,

Are young people living in Estonia patriots of their homeland?

their homeland. One the other hand, there are many young Estonians who want to go to study abroad and sometimes they stay there for the rest of their lives. They think that life is better compared to the contitions Estonia has to offer. Also, many young women are convinced that Estonian men are dolts and wusses and think that foreigners make much better husbands for them and better fathers of their children. So, this is the point where young Estonian men should step out for themselves and prove that this belief is not true. There is yet another a well-known saying that describes the attitudes of Estonian young very well: it states that people always want that they have not. Looking from here everything seems to be better in the West education has higher quality and salaries are bigger. That is why youngsters are not satisfied with their lives. If Estonia offered similar conditions, young inhabitants would also stay here as the surveys have also clearly shown.

Theatres in Estonia

even today. The scheme from society to theatre is a general phenomenon, because all the present state theatres once belonged to societies. Theatre played an important role in advancing and safeguarding the spirit of Estonians during both the period of last century's national awakening and the oppression of the Soviet regime. After the restoration of Estonia's independence, theatre lost its political significance and became one area of culture amongst many others. Nowadays, theatre has to prove its worth by means of art only. Estonian theatre arts is a mixture of German and Russian theatre. Theatres in Estonia, like elsewhere in the world, may be divided into three categories according to their form of ownership: state, municipal and private theatres. One of the six state theatres in Tallinn is the Russian Drama Theatre. Although its repertoire is Russian, quite a number of Estonian classical plays are staged there. The audiences are mostly people of Russian nationality.

The more serious cases talk about criminal identity theft, identity cloning and medical identity theft where people have been framed for crimes they did not commit(from speeding tickets and drug posession to funding terrorism), where people have lost their jobs due to not being able to prove their innocence or even cases where people were not able to get the medicine nessecary due to someone else posing as them and collecting the perscription first. Essay about England

was a very good or a very bad thing. Of course any kind of oppression should not be approved of and actually the Empire and native British forced on their way of life and culture to the colonies. On the other hand the Empire also helped its subjects to develop in a positive sense. In overall Britain ruled several parts of the world, like India, parts of Africa, New Zealand, Canada, and Australia, but also Ireland. Just to prove my point I will give some examples how the British Empire affected its subjects. In the 19th century British culture and way of life became predominate in Ireland. In the 1840s the potato crop failed two years in a row and a terrible famine occurred. Millions of peasants, those with Irish Gaelic language and customs either died or emigrated. As a result by the end of the century almost the whole population were using English as their first language.

Extreme Sports.

The platforms can be up to 100 feet above the water. Cliff diving is very popular in Switzerland where annual championships are being held. The roots of cliff diving are found at Kaunolu, on the Hawaiian Island of Lana´i. Back in 1770, Kahekili, the last independent king of Maui and chief of four islands was famous for "lele kawa", which in English means leaping off high cliffs and entering the water feet first without a splash. In order to prove their courage and loyalty, Kahekili forced his warriors to follow his example, jumping of the leap into the Royal Waters at Kaunolu. One generation later, the Hawaiians practiced "lele kawa" in competition. Judgement was passed on the style of the dive and the amount of splash on entry. Thank you!

Class and social status in Pride and Prejudice

During a conversation with Elizabeth Bennet Mr. Collins advises her not to fret about her appearance before visiting her ladyship. "Lady Catherine will not think the worse of you for being simply dressed. She likes to have the distinction of rank preserved." However horrid for some aristocrats marriage between the wealthy and the poor appeared, middle class mothers seemed to cherish it as a life goal. Mrs. Bennet is the best [Type here] example to prove that statement. She did not seem to care about the rich candidates' personality or behaviour, all that concerned her was his fortune. When a gentleman, Mr. Bingley, is said to be moving into the neighbourhood she immediately runs to her husband, already in the hopes of having one of her five daughters married to him. "A single man of large fortune; four or five thousand a year. What a fine thing for our girls." After having an unpleasant acquaintance with the named gentleman's friend, Mr

The social network

The Social Network review To begin with, I would like to prove the fact that if Facebook would be a country, then it would be the 3rd largest in the world. When I wake up in the morning I do things in a definite order. Logging in to Facebook is one of those things I do in those mornings when I have some extra time. So do many of us. If we could, we would spend hours on the world's most popular social network. But at many academic institutions and office networks Facebook has been blocked to guarantee the irrelevancy.

Pride and Prejudice Book report

time she accepts. They have a double wedding with joy and love. A major theme is the importance of environment and upbringing on the development of young people's character and morality. Social standing and wealth are not necessarily advantages. Pride and Prejudice, employs the narrative technique of free indirect speech. Austen invites the reader to follow events from Elizabeth's viewpoint, sharing her prejudices and misapprehensions and being surprised along with her when events prove these to be mistaken. In my oppinion, the book was really good and I liked it a lot. Though the language was quite difficult to understand sometimes, but I liked the style she has written the novel. I like the way she talks about the characters so prolixly and they were somehow still jolly. I did not like the character of Darcy in the beginning, because I thought it was too strict and was not humorous at all. But in the end I thought he is a really good man for Elizabeth
