Shopping - pleasure or obligation We need to do shopping almost every day. Because we had to buy meat, fruits and other food products. Furthermore people need medicines clothes and stationary. But buying isn't always obligation to demand basic needs. Perhaps it cab be pleasure. Right now huge department stores and supermarkets are very poplar places. In there you can do everything, start the day with shopping and end with eating. Positive is that you can find almost everything in big shop. Very exciting places for shopping is marketplaces, flea market and street markets like Portobello Road Market in London. There you will find collectible and antique junk. Me and languages

I started my studies in Tallinn University of Technology a few weeks ago. I had the oppurtunity to choose my subjects and one of them was French. I was really exited, beacause learning French has been my dream for years and now I can make my dream come true. I have to admit that learning French is really difficult at first, but I hope that in the future it will be easier. The teacher is very hortative and always praise and for me it is really important. It is always a pleasure to go to his lesson and it is pleasure to learn. To sum up, I have learned languages quite a long time and I hope that it will last. In the future I definitely want to learn Spanish and Chinese. I always look forward to improve myself and get new knowledges. Keit Kallas

Letter travelling description

My dear Rashmi, I received your letter a week ago. I am sorry, I could not write to you earlier as I was but of station. During the winter break, I had a chance to visit Kolkata along with my uncle. I hope, my description of the visit of that great city will be a source of pleasure for you. It was my first visit to Kolkata. We stayed there with a friend of my father. He was a kind host. He took me round some important places of the city. Kolkata is a very big place. The streets of Kolkata are full, of the crowds of people. There is such great rush-of traffic that at first I felt quite confused. Kolkata is a city of fine streets. I liked the Chawranghee most of all. On one side it is lined by tall buildings and on the other by the maidan

About myself

I like staying alone and sometimes I retire into my shell. But at the same time I like my friends, I like to laugh and joke. I have got a sense of humour. It means I understand humour and appreciate it. There are many things in our life I like and some I dislike. I like when everything is OK. Being happy is one way of being wise. I like to study because knowledge is useful sometimes. I'm fond of reading as it gives not only knowledge, but wonderful moments of joy and pleasure. I am neither short nor tall, so I like to wear highheeled shoes, trousers or jeans. I was born on the 25th of April 1985 in the town of Molodechno where I live now together with my parents and my younger sister (older brother). My early years which I remember badly, were typical of a child living in a town. I was born in a family of a teacher and a doctor. I was sent to a kindergarten at the age of three as both the parents were working. As all the children of Belarus I

It has an element of entertaining display, we expect literature to be in some sense entertaining, or, to afford pleasure. WHAT IS IT THAT MAKES LITERATURE PLEASANT? A literary work seizes our interest and more or less at least for a moment makes the rest of the world fade and vanish. A work of art has this power to catch us up momentarily and to delight us. fall in love. They are trying to be together although it is not allowed because Rose is from the good family and Jack is just a poor boy. But in the other half of the movie, something different happens. The ship hits an iceberg and sinks. Jack dies, but Rose survives. I have never liked other movies so much. This movie is the best on my list. ,,Titanic" is a movie which is perfect in every aspect. I like it very much and I will watch this movie again with a big pleasure. In my opinion, ,,Titanic" is a film what goes to the heart. It captures the soul.I would certainly recommend it to anybody who likes films about true love and about terrible disaster.

Essay: online news and newspapers

and fast and ofcourse, when something important happens on another side of the world, people can read information about it after 5-10 minutes, not like with newspapers, where information is available on the next day morning. I can say that, not like others, I prefer old-fashioned newspapers, because of the feeling what reading them offers. For example: fresh newspaper, which smells good on the table, morning coffee, turning pages and reading pleasure. Newspaper is exclusive. Only chosen ones can in the newspapers, space is limited and stupid comments below the articles are missing. Instead of these are readers letters, jokes and some famous person´s opinion. There are no advertisements and you don´t have to click anywhere. People are talking a lot about diying newspapers. In 2009 Vockees Media Research made a research, where 293 USA newspapers died because of financial crisis. 230 of them were weekly newspapers.

Dorian Gray

Dorian Gray the Prince of Everlasting Youth The novel which describes the life story of Dorian Gray is out of the ordinary. It might have been a long time ago when it was written, but I haven't heard of a similar idea such as the starting point of the events. In the beginning Dorian was a young undamaged simple boy and I think that Basil was right to have the wish to prevent Dorian meeting Harry. When Dorian hears the ideas that Harry has for life of pleasure, beauty and youth, he adopts them immediately. As he sees his portrait, Dorian becomes aware of his beauty and says the fateful wish that if only he could remain young and the portrait would become old. The first sign that his wish had become true is seen when Dorian is very heartless and rude to Sibyl Vane, an actress to whom he wanted to marry. When young Dorian discovers that his painting has changed and that his wish had come true, he hides the painting to a room

expensive too. Travelling by train is slower than by plane, but it has its advantages. You can see much more interesting places of the country you are travelling through. Modern trains have very comfortable seats. There are also sleeping cars and dining cars which make even the longest journey enjoyable. Speed, comfort and safety are the main advantages of trains and planes. That is why I prefer travelling by train. Travelling by sea is popular mostly for pleasure trips. On board large ships and small river boats people can visit foreign countries and different places of interest within their own country. It is very pleasant to see the rise and fall of the waves, to feel the fresh sea wind blowing and hear the cry of the seagulls. Trips on the Volga, the Dnieper, the Yenisei, the Black Sea are very popular today. Many people like to travel by car. It is interesting too, because you can stop when and where

Something out of nothing

Something out of nothing. Why do people enjoy making something out of nothing? I believe that it gives us great pleasure to know, that we've made something new and interesting just because we're humans. We like to feel big and important, it's just our nature and we can't help it. For example, many people believe in God. They believe God is always watching over them, so they have to behave, because noone wants to be on the bad side in the eyes of God. And ofcourse everyone wants to go to heaven, so you can't really get on God's nerves, or he'll just send you to hell. The way I see it, God makes all

Drugs and how they affect your health.

brain. Nicotine raises the heart rate and respiration (breathing) rate, and causes more glucose, or blood sugar, to be released into the blood. This might be why smokers feel more alert after smoking a cigarette. Nicotine also attaches to neurons (brain cells) that release a neurotransmitter called dopamine. Nicotine stimulates neurons to release unusually large amounts of dopamine. Dopamine stimulates the brain's pleasure and reward circuit, a group of brain structures called the limbic system involved in appetite, learning, memory, and feelings of pleasure. Normally, pleasurable feelings come from food, comfort, and the company of people you love. But smoking cigarettes causes a flood of dopamine in the smoker's brain. It's this flood of dopamine that gives the smoker intense feelings of pleasure. Normally, neurons reabsorb neurotransmitters after they've done their job of signaling other brain cells

Product and corporate advertising

That shows that Coca-Cola wants to show its different stylish side on its new design and advertisement. Usually Coca-Cola markets itself as a drink for the whole family but this campaign is oriented to show the product as perfect drink& accessorize for every stylish woman and man. Also the great marketing of new design includes Karl Lagerfeld saying "It's exciting for me because I love the idea and as everybody knows, I drink Diet Coke and nothing else, night and day. It was pure pleasure to do a campaign with people I like and for a product I love." That makes lots of his devoted fans also considering buying it. Therefore I think that campaign gains more positive attention that Diet Pepsi's campaign. Overall I must say comparing the two campaigns I like Diet Coke's best because it is different from The Company's usual marketing style and it may lead to gaining more market share. Diet Pepsi's advertisement is matching their usual style

Cars enslave us rather than liberate us

In my opinion, cars enslave people because once a person gets behind the wheel, there is no way out of this comfort. To begin with, car requires a many expenditure, starting from purchasing a car and ending with technical controls, supplying of fuel and so on. It can be said that the material side of the car sustenance is difficult. A person must have a stable income to afford a car. Moreover, it is expensive to get a driver's license. It can be said that owning a car is an expensive pleasure. Secondly, driving a car can be compared to addiction as Matthew Perry once said:" I think we need to educate doctors about our addiction." Initially, people may not notice it, but over time it becomes clear that people cannot pass even the smaller distances without car. For instance, there are people who drive to the gym to do a workout there even if the distance is small. Nonetheless, it is good to have a car if it is necessary to save time.

Are young people living in Estonia patriots of their homeland?

One the one hand, young Estonians are very supportive and helpful when there is a crisis situation in our country. For example, in case of the disturbances in April 2007, young men where ready to go as voluntaires to protect our country. Also, more an more young people are interested in taking part in the Song and Dance Festivals. Where they can wear our national clothes, sing our national songs and dance our national dances. And they do it with pleasure and proudness. Everyone who has been there, including me, know how every song and dance makes you feel more Estonian and what an overpowering feeling of unity it gives. It has been always said that Estonians are singing natoin and young people carry this tradition on and all over the world, advertising and introducing it proudly. Furthermore, there are many young men and nowadays also women, who want to take part in time service, which is indispensable

On friendship

upon us so that we may continue to live; but friendship is not friendship at all unless it teaches us that these are not part of our real life. They have to be; and we pay men, and clothe them in wigs and scarlet, to sit in judgment on other men. So we are tempted to play this game of judgment ourselves, even though no one has paid us to do it. It is only in the warmth of friendship that we see how cold a thing it is to judge and how stupid to take a pleasure in judging; for we recognise this warmth as a positive good, a richness in our natures, while the coldness that sets us judging is a poverty. Just as our criticism of a work of art begins only when we have ceased to experience it, so our criticism of our friends begins only when we have ceased to experience them, when our minds can no longer remain at the height of intimacy. But this criticism is harmless if we know it for what it is, merely the natural reaction,

Kafka's Hunger Artist

conflict between the audience and the artist adds to the artist's dissatisfaction with his nourishment. The audience viewing the artist feeds upon the belief the artist is cheating. They continually view the artist only wishing to find him cheating. They express conceit at being confident he is cheating yet no one is ever able to find any form of proof. The butchers desire to know the artist is cheating and ignore him to comfort their suspicions. These internal assurances of the public which pleasure them so also bother them because of the failure to confirm these suspicions. Yet, if the suspicions were to be confirmed, the audience would not be satisfied, and, in fact, feel cheated and frustrated. Humans' conflicting desires is further shown through the viewing public when the artist is exhibited at the circus. As people file past the hunger artist, they only wish to view him when they cannot and when they can, they do not view him

A letter to host family

me a lot of good. Through my language teachers, (whom are Estonians) I have learnt a lot about the life in America. Hence my desire to have first-hand experience of American life. I am particularly interested in experiencing family life in America, since it offers a cultural context that is undoubtedly different from mine. For this reason, I would very much like to find a nice family to live with in America. When it comes to leisure, I take pleasure in the simple things in life. I enjoy being outdoors, being with my friends, going for walks in forest, visiting places I have not been to, watching a good movie and I also enjoy playing billiard and I will never get bored when it comes to child care, I have helped my parents look after my brother and sister since their birth. Although my looking after them is now on small scale because I live in dorm. I can comfortably say that I sincerely enjoy spending time with children.

What is the best age to be?

my life span development. All ages have great and bad things. When you are a child your freedom is limited and it mostly depends on your parents´ mood at that time. Some examples like where you have to be home at 9.00pm and no TV until you´ve cleaned your room. Also then you have problems, but only the ones generated at school. Childhood has many responsibilities, some we like, some we have to do and some we despise. Responsibilities some of us enjoy doing is homework. We get a sense of pleasure after finishing a piece of work that we have done to the best of our ability. Cleaning our rooms is a responsibility we must do both for hygienic and ,if I don't I will get punished, reasons. A responsibility we despise doing is anything that clashes with our free/play time. These are just some of the things in childhood that we are responsible for. First ten years are full of joy and happiness and 10-20 there is 1st love, first date, first car.

Leon knows that Archie has influence in the secret group that rules the school. Archie pushes back, but Leon levels his gaze at him and Archie remembers that Leon could ruin his grade in algebra. Archie finaly says that The Vigils will help. A pale, sniveling sort of man, Brother Leon nevertheless is a bully. He takes great pleasure in making students fear him. The black box is a mechanism to keep the leader of The Vigils in check. Inside the black box there are six marbles--five white and one black. If Archie draws the black marble, he must do the assignment himself. Ten minutes before the end of class, Leon calls on Bailey. Leon accuses Bailey of cheating. Leon wonders how else Bailey could always get such great grades. Bailey protests, saying that he does not cheat and never has, but Leon is relentless, accusing

Michael Balcon andis Hitchcockile võimaluse teha oma esimene film "The Pleasure Garden" 1925. aastal. Filmi reklaamimise läbikukkumine ohustas Hitchcocki paljulubavat karjääri. Hoolimata sellest tegi Hitchcock debüüdi oma esimese thrillerfilmiga "Üürnik" (The Lodger: A Story of the London fog).

world and objects. Also worth mentioning is the fact that when a nearby neighbor is killed she sympathizes the man with all her heart and intends to call off the garden party. However, her mother silences her by saying "You are being very absurd, Laura," she said coldly. "People like that don't expect sacrifices from us. And it's not very sympathetic to spoil everybody's enjoyment as you're doing now." True it is, that life has to go on and pleasure must serve a certain role even after someone dies, but Laura feels that this kind of action would be heartless and inappropriate. Her mother even tries to divert her attention with elegant hat, which she puts on Laura`s head and comments endlessly how it makes her beautiful. This brings along an internal conflict in Laura`s mind, either to grief, or to be vain and self- centered. Towards the end Laura is sent to the grieving family to fetch a big basket. At the
