Arizona

Canyon area as a National Park, visiting on numerous occasions to hunt mountain lion and enjoy the scenery. The canyon was created by the Colorado River cutting a channel over millions of years, and is about 277 miles (446 km) long, ranges in width from 4 to 18 miles (6 to 29 km) and attains a depth of more than 1 mile (1.6 km). Nearly two billion years of the Earth's history have been exposed as the Colorado River and its tributaries cut through layer after layer of sediment as the Colorado Plateau uplifted. Generally, Arizona is at low risk of earthquakes, except for the southwestern portion which is at moderate risk due to its proximity to Southern California. On the other hand, Northern Arizona is at moderate risk due to numerous faults in the area. The regions that are at lowest risk in the state are near and west of Phoenix. The earliest Arizona earthquakes were recorded at Fort Yuma, on the California side of the Colorado River

Located in Arctic Ocean Also known as Grønland Kalaallit Nunaat Population 60,324 (2000 Estimate) Total area 2,175,600 square kilometres Greenland, a selfgoverning dependency of Denmark, is the largest island in the world. Greenland consists of an interior icecovered plateau surrounded by a mountainous, generally icefree rim. The interior ice cap is thickest near the centre of the island, where the maximum depth is estimated to be about 3,353 metres (11,000 feet). Underneath the ice cover are the ancient rocks of the Greenland Shield, which is geologically related to the Canadian Shield. Drainage is afforded mainly by the so called ice fjords, in which glaciers from the ice caps pass through valleys to the sea, where they form thousands of icebergs each year

Neptuun Neptuun on kaheksas ja viimane suurtest planeetidest meie päikesesüsteemis ja on eriti kuulus oma avastusloo poolest.Suuruselt on Neptuun diameetri järgi neljas. Neptuun on diameetrilt väiksem ja massilt suurem kui Uraan, oma massilt 17,5 korda ja ruumalalt 42 korda suurem Maast.Neptuuni on külastanud ainult üks kosmoselaev, Voyager 2 25. augustil 1989 aastal.Nagu tüüpilised gaasilised planeedid, on Neptuunil kiired tuuled piiratud laiuskraadide joontega, esinevad suured tormid või keerised. Neptuun'i tuuled on kõige kiiremad Päikesesüsteemis, ulatudes 2000 km/tunnis. Avastamine Neptuuni asukoha arvutas välja prantsuse matemaatik Urbain Le Verrier, püüdes seletada häireid Uraani liikumises temast kaugemal asuva planeedi gravitatsioonilise mõjuga. Le Verrier' poolt antud asukoha järgi avastas planeedi saksa astronoom Johann Galle 1846. aasta 23. septembril. Planeedi asukoha arvutamine põhines ...

Natural zones and flora of Australia

Natural Zones and Flora. There are five distinguishable natural zones in Australia. In the very east there are wet forests (1.) that occupy the space between the Great Dividing Range and the eastern coast. Westward from the Great Dividing Range the wet forests give place to beautiful grasslands with some trees . These grasslands are called the savannas (2.). Farther west the trees disappear and the bushlands (3.) begin. The real desert (4.) occupies the centre of the Western Plateau. In the very southwest there are thin forests of evergreen trees (5.). Most of Australian trees are kinds of eucalyptus trees (or gum trees to Australians) and acacia ( wattle to Australians). Eucalyptus trees are found everywhere in Australia. There are many kinds of them and they greatly differ in size. One kind, the great mountain ash, can grow to 120 metres and it grows in the wet forests in the eastern part of the continent. These strong trees do not die when there are forest fires.

In the east, the mountainous maritime provinces have an irregular coastline on the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the Atlantic. The St. Lawrence plain, covering most of southern Quebec and Ontario, and the interior continental plain, covering southern Manitoba and Saskatchewan and most of Alberta, are the principal cultivable areas. They are separated by a forested plateau rising from Lakes Superior and Huron. Westward toward the Pacific, most of British Columbia, the Yukon, and part of western Alberta are covered by parallel mountain ranges, including the Rockies. The Pacific border of the coast range is ragged with fjords and channels. The highest point in Canada is Mount Logan (6,050 m), which is in the Yukon.

Topic – Australia

The natural zones of Australia are very various. There are deserts, semi deserts, grasslands, savannas, bushlands and rainforests. The wet forests occupy the narrow region in the east. Most of the animals, birds and insects live in that region, because there is enough food. The savannas which are grasslands with some trees are mostly in the west. Farther west are the bushlands. The real deserts occupy the centre of the Western Plateau. In the very south west there are thin forests of evergreens trees. Australia is the driest inhabited continent, the flattest, and has the oldest and least fertile soils. Only the south-east and south-west corners of the continent have a temperate climate. The northern part of the country, with a tropical climate, has vegetation consisting of rainforest, woodland, grassland, mangrove swamps and desert. Climate is highly influenced by ocean

long history. These groups include the Egyptians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, European Crusaders, Mongols from Central Asia, Turks, British, and French. In 1946, the French gave up control over Syria, and the Syrian Arab Republic was created. Syria is a country in the Middle East bordering the Mediterranean Sea. Neighboring countries include Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, and Turkey. The geography of Syria is primarily semiarid and desert plateau with a double mountain belt in the west. The government system is a republic under authoritarian regime. The chief of state is the President and the head of government is the Prime Minister. Syria has a mixed economy in which there is limited private freedom but the economy remains highly controlled by the government. Syria is a member of the Council of Arab Economic Unity (CAEU). Two-thirds of Syria is desert; the other third is part of the Fertile Crescent along the Mediterranean coast

The Great Artesian Basin under the central Lowlands makes cattlebreeding possible thee. The network of artesian wells provides cattle with water. Natural zones The wet forests also called the rainforests occupy the narrow coastal region in the east. In the west they give place to grasslands with some trees called savannas. Farther west the trees disappear and the savannas give place to the bushlands. The real desert occupies the centre of the Western Plateau. In the very southwest there are thin forests of evergreen trees. Plants A rich variety of plant can be found in the natural landscapes of Australia. A lot of species can be found in wet tropical forests in the north and in temperate rainforests in the south. The biggest family of the native plants is the myrties. They include more than 500 species of eucalyptus, or gum trees. Only the big river red gum is seen everywhere

Ayers Rock-Uluru The Australian Outback is one of a kind in the world. It is actually a vast arid plateau stretching across most of the continent. There are the Gibson, the Great Victoria, the Great Sandy Deserts and many smaller deserts Australia is known for its temporary rivers or creeks, which are full only after rains. The longest river is the Murray-Darling, which is 2700 km long. Most of the lakes are also full after rain. Relief Australia is a flat and old continent. Its average height is 274 m above sea level. Its relief is pretty simple – plains cover the greater part of it. Basically one third of its area is covered by deserts and plains. Biggest deserts and plains are: the Great Sandy Desert, the Gibson Desert, the Great Victoria Desert and the Nullarbor Plain. They are also called as the Western Australian Shield. The Nullarbor Plain is an uninhabited limestone plateau. It is characterized by amazing cave and tunnel systems, which contain valuable information about ancient Australia. The east is the mountainous part of the country. There is The Great Dividing Range. It runs along the Pacific coast and finds it end in Tasmania. The mountains are old and worn down. The highest mountains on the Australian mainland are in an area known as the Australian Alps. They are a small part of the Great Dividing Range. The Highest Peak on the mainland

The 4-Hour Body - An Uncommon Guide to Rapid Fat-Loss, Incredible Sex, and Becoming Superhuman - Timothy Ferriss

Most men can. Some women can't.3 Menstruation can stop if leptin levels get too low. This happened to one reader for seven months until she returned to "refeeding," as she called it (binge day), though she only did it once every two weeks. Forced overfeeding can temporarily increase circulating leptin 40%. I still suggest once per week as a default. Bumping up food intake for 1224 hours, not necessarily to the point of sickness, is an important reset. If you gain too much or plateau and get nervous, eat a good high-protein meal for breakfast on your o day and then binge from lunch to dinner, which is what I now do most of the time. I don't always splurge to the point of sickness. In a response to one slow-carber, I explained: Yes, you can eat anything you want--in any quantity--on Saturdays. I tend to go nuts every 1 of 4 weeks and eat so much I get nearly sick, which makes me moderate the other 3. I

Cats

AMBER AND RUSSET - LATE COLOUR CHANGE GENES Copyright 2014, Sarah Hartwell The ancestors of the domestic cat were nondescript black/brown striped tabbies. Over the centuries, mutation produced a wide array of colours based on 2 different pigments. Eumelanin gives the blacks, browns and blues while phaeomelanin gives the reds, fawns and creams. A few other genes give further variations on those colours such silvers, colourpoints and solids/selfs. Mutations continue to occur and unexpected colours also turn up due to inbreeding where recessive genes, hidden for generations, start showing up. AMBER AND LIGHT AMBER During the 1990s, some purebred Norwegian Forest Cats in Sweden produced chocolate/lilac and cinnamon/fawn offspring. However, those colours are not found in the purebred Norwegian Forest Cat gene pool. Had the gene pool become polluted by someone, perhaps generations ago, breeding their Norwegian Forest Cat to another breed? ...

Christopher Vogler The Writers Journey

of the Ordeal may evaporate in the harsh light of common day. N o one may believe the hero's miraculous escape from death. T h e adventures may be rationalized away by skeptics. But most heroes determine to try. Like the Boddhisattvas of Buddhist belief, they have seen the eternal plan but return to the world of the living to tell others about it and share the elixir they have won. MOTIVATION T h e Road Back marks a time when heroes rededicate themselves to the adventure. A plateau of comfort has been reached and heroes must be pried off that plateau, either by their own inner resolve or by an external force. Inner resolve might be represented by a scene of a tired commander rallying dispirited troops after a battle, or a parent pulling a family together after a death or tragedy. An external force might be an alarm going off, a clock ticking, or a renewed threat by a villain. T h e heroes may be reminded of the ultimate goal of the adventure.
