A multilingual internet?

Companies are beginning to realise that they will have to translate their websites for their various customers. Businesses all over the world are now faced with a huge challenge creating a multilingual website. It is not an easy task because different cultures have different needs. Companies doing e-business simply need time to translate their sites into the various languages necessary to do business. Meanwhile, more and more material in different languages is being added to the Web at a fast pace. The problems of language and culture could limit larger companies and because of that smaller businesses will have more opportunities.

An alteration in tone, pace, or punctuation changes the meaning, however slight. Purring · A purr is a sound made by most species of felids, but most large felines like tigers do not. Pros and cons of technology

Pros and Cons of Technology Today we are so used to live surrounded by technology. We could not imagine our lives without it. But what are the pros and cons of technology? Time is money. Of course those wonderful inventions can save our time and nowadays when the pace of life is very fast, it is so important. In my opinion the communications technology is the most valuable, because it makes possible to resque people who need help. A development of transport is also important in this field. But the fact is that people are getting lazy. Machines do all the work for the people. We just sit and watch machines doing our duties, unfortunately it is so harmful for our health. Computers, the internet and social networks they all put up a wall between real-life communicating. People can not speak and write correctly, because they are usind slang every day on the internet. It is quite impossible to avoid technology, we are forced to use it, fo...

Essee: The effects mobile phones have on our lives.

expensive to use and when the battery is dead, it is completely useless. Also if parents trust their children to use mobile phones at very young age, the may get surprised when they finally see the bill. Because there are many addictive things like games and ringtones etc, what seem very tempting to buy them. All things considered, I think that mobile phones are rather good than bad to it's users. We all know how mobile phones makes everything easier in this fast pace life, but the disadvantages are rather exceptional. I am happy with my mobile phone, but sometimes i reminisce the times without it.

Setting goals and trying to achieve them

Setting goals and trying to achieve them is an important factor of success Stanislav Stõkov MASB11 Every person's main goal or dream is to succeed in life. While the mission stays the same, the only difference is how it is achieved. Usually people set goals for themselves and attain them step by step, but how important is it in general? The advantages of setting goals include firstly, acting on a certain plan. If people have their goals straighten out, then they will not come to a point where they do not know what to do or what will happen next. It is much easier to move from one point to another if there is a direction. Secondly, if one goal is attained then people feel already sense of achievement, which motivates them to go onward. Therefore pushing their limits toward success. The disadvantage is if people set...

Charlie Chaplini elulugu

While touring the United States in 1913 Chaplin was discovered by the film producer Mack Sennett. Over the next couple of years Chaplin made a series of short slapstick films for Sennett's Keystone Company. In these films Chaplin developed a character that wore baggy pants, tight frock coat, large shoes on the wrong feet and a black derby hat. By his thirteenth film, Caught in the Rain (1914), Chaplin began to direct his own films. Chaplin now slowed the pace of his films, reduced the number of visual jokes but increased the time spent on each one. Chaplin placed the emphasis on the character rather than slapstick events. The themes of his films became more serious and reflected his childhood experiences of poverty, hunger and loneliness. Chaplin's work revolutionized film comedy and turned it into an art form. Chaplin's films were highly successful and became a household name throughout the world.

Dead until dark

It talks about a telephatic waitress, Sookie Stackhouse, from a small town Bon Temps. She lives with her grandmother Adele and she has an older brother Jason. She meets a vampire, Bill Compton. In this world vampires are a reality. They have also invented synthetic blood, which makes it unnecessary to feed on humans. And vampire blood is an addictive and illegal drug. Sookie falls in love with Bill. A lot of murders occur in Bon Temps. Bill and her brother are main suspects at some point because the bodies have fang marks and Jason is suspected because he had a relationship with two of the victims. Sookie tries to help both of them and she starts searching for information about who might have been the murderer. Her grandmother is also killed and she has to start living alone. Most of the times she's at work (Merlotte's bar and grill) and at nights she's with Bill. At the end Sookie discovers that the murderer is Rene Lenier. He's her fr...

We live in a constantly changing world - essee

We live in a constantly changing world There seems to be no stability or certanity about anything. Nations rise and fall, governments come to power and tumble, armies march and retreat, healthy people become sick and on and on the world goes. On the one hand the world we are living in is amazing, because science, medicine, technology, and so on are advancing at an ever-increasing pace. It has made our lives much easier than it was 100 years ago. For example we have phones, television, fast cars, eco towns, highrise buildings and so on. But on the other hand the world can also be frightful. People are starving, and do not have water to drink nor wash themselves. But somewhere someone has unlimited food and water and never thinks about those people who are in need. Due to the over consumption of water, gas, wood et cetera, we might be in a lack

By the time he was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor in 1959, Burgess had already published his Malayan trilogy of Time for a Tiger (1956), The Enemy in the Blanket (1958), and Beds in the East (1959). Burgess returned to England and, with the prospect of only one year left of life, industriously rattled off five books in 1960 and eleven between 1960 and 1964. He outlived the doctors' prognosis by 33 years but continued his prolific pace. Burgess wrote over fifty books, numerous critical studies (notably of Shakespeare and James Joyce) and journal articles, and screenplays and teleplays (he was even called upon to devise a prehistoric language for the film "Quest for Fire"). But his preferred field was classical music, and he wrote several accomplished symphonies (Burgess also integrated music with his prose writing). He held distinguished academic posts and lived in places as far-flung as Malta throughout

Living in the countryside – a pleasant experience or a never-ending hardship?

Living in the countryside a pleasant experience or a never-ending hardship? Living in the countryside might be challenging for a modern human being, but it definitely has benefits for both mind and body. Countryside living spaces are usually less polluted, the pace of life is slower and people are more in touch with nature. Still, there is less entertainment than in cities, distances are longer and it can take much more time to get medical help if needed. Moving from city to country has been the traditional path for those in their 30s and 40s, particularly if children are involved. Nowadays flat rates in cities can be more expensive than living in a house in the countryside. Therefore, living in the countryside can be more affordable.

Fame is a Fickle Food

The crows could also represent the many followers famous people get (fans etc), who turn away as soon as they see the fame becoming less bright. Dickinson ends the poem by saying that men, who eat the dish of fame, die. This means that they have spent their lives in search and pursuit of fame and have lost sight of everything important. Stylistically it is a very lovely poem. It flows nicely, although there is an abrupt change of pace in the last line, but that also carries a significance - to highlight the importance of the last sentence. She has also comprised the stanzas very logically the main idea carries over very well. Dickinson has not used too complex metaphors or stylistic devices, which sometimes make a poem harder to read. I enjoyed the poem, especially because I agree with the main idea - one should not waste one's life running after something as obscure as fame

Essay about Chinese language taking over English

Will Chinese become more important than English in the near future? As David Graddol, a visiting professor in Hong Kong, says in "Will Chinese take over from English as the world's most important language?", he must often answer the questions concerning Chinese importance over English. Graddol states that China's economy is growing and it is already second in the world. In fact, it has become the largest exporter and first in energy consumption. In addition, China will presumably be the largest manufacturer soon. However, he questions whether Chinese language grows at the same pace as its economy. Graddol's teaching in Hong Kong starts with a lecture called "World Englishes". He notes that he wrote his book "The Future of English" in 1997, same year when China got Hong Kong back from Britain. Graddol reminds the students, how many things wasn't happened then: euro was not put in use, even Windows 98 was not ready. He h...

They may even be launched, as they frequently were in Earth’s ancient past, by the impact of a large meteorite plunging into an ocean. TSUNAMI Can race up to 805 kilometers an hour. At that pace, they can cross the entire expanse of the Pacific Ocean in less than a day. And their long wavelengths mean they lose very little energy along the way. In deep ocean, tsunami waves may appear only a foot or so high. But as they approach shoreline and enter shallower water they slow down and begin to grow in energy and height. Global Warming

a harsh life. During the hot summer of 1995, the frightening effects of high temperatures were felt in Chicago, when 700 people died as a result of heat-related problems. Air quality in many parts of the country is already considered unhealthy. With global warming adding to it, it's only going to get worse and worse. Furthermore, warmer temperatures would widen the range of disease carried by rodents and mosquitoes. This increase of temperatures is happening at a pace that outstrips anything the Earth has seen in the past 100 million years. We have caused all of this over many years of over industrialization in this growing world. Many different things cause the greenhouse effect. The amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is increasing because of the massive consumption of fossil fuels such as oil, coal, and natural gas. Another contributing factor is the the amount of forest logged. Every

Jassi Zahharovi kontserdiarvustus

Kontserdiarvustus 13. detsembril 2007. aastal laulis rahvusooperi Estonia esibariton Jassi Zahharov (53) Vändra Kultuurimajas Eesti estraadiklassikasse kuuluvaid palasid. V 1954 Tartu ) on laulja, täpsemalt bariton. Lõpetas 1979.a Leningradi Music - Hall´i stuudio, on täiendanud end Riias K. Zarinsi juures. Laulis 197275 ,,Vanemuise" teatri kooris ( vaheaegadega ), olnud 1980-97 ,,Vanemuise" ja aastast 1997 ,,Estonia" solist, esinenud ka oratooriumi- ( Orffi ,,Carmina burana", Tobiase ,,Johannese Damaskusest") ja kammerlauljana. On saanud endale G.Otsa preemia 1994, Suure Vankri auhind 1996. Jane Eyre

courage. Opinion Film starts near the end of the story when Jane Eyre drifting in the rain, impoverished and homeless until she is rescued by St. John Rivers and his sisters. From this point, the film returns to the beginning of the story. Unlike the film, the book begins with Jane's childhood and moves forward chronologically. The flashback technique adds drama and mystery to the effect of the film. Consider how the film maintains pace and viewer interest. The story does not, for instance, go into great detail about Edward Rochester begging Jane Eyre to stay with him. Due to the flashback technique, the audience knows the marriage is not going to work, rendering the amount of time devoted to this in the book superfluous in the film version. Think about why certain elements of the book were excluded from the film. The notion that Edward Rochester will marry Blanche Ingram is in the book and the film

many pizza parlours, pubs and burger bars are really being subsidized by the Government. It's perfect for short-outings - boat trips around the islands and visits to show-piece villages such as Sigtuna. It's wrong to leave hospital patients without doctors and nurses. Likewise, strikes among teachers can severely disrupt the education of our children. They're ideal for people who really want to relax and live life at a slower pace. 4.3 Expressing certainty According to government statistics, waiting lists are coming down. Actually, Esperanto is closer to European languages than any others. In fact, we have some of the top chefs in the world, but only people with a lot of money experience British cooking at its best. Clearly, a coeducational environment promotes understanding between boys and girls. It's far more natural. So in what ways are they superior? .

Getting to the shops, which normally takes five minutes in the car, took at least an hour, so it was impossible just to pop out for a loaf of bread. It was strange having to wait until the washing dried in the garden before getting the ironing done, instead of simply using the drier." Although Carol found it quite difficult to get used to the lenght of time it took to do things, she enjoyed having a slower, more relaxed pace of life. Also, the lack of electronic entertainment, particularly the TV, had a dramatic effect on the children. They got on much better together and seemed to enjoy each other's company more, although they clearly believed that they were suffering. Tamsin even spent some time gazing at the blank TV screen in her bedroom. "All sorts of things that we had put off doing got done," said Carol. day. Such popular activities are bicycling, jogging, swimming and even taking long walks. Rest and sleep help overcome fatigue and restore energy to the body. Everyone needs rest and health, but the amount required differs from each individual. Rest and relaxation are as important as sleep. After hard work or exercise, a person may need a period of total rest. At other times, only relaxation or a change of pace is necessary. Any activity that differs from the normal routine of work or study can be relaxing. Handling stress is essential for avoiding both mental and physical illness. Feelings of stress are the body's response to any threatening or unfamiliar situation. Stress can occur even in pleasant situations, such as watching a football game. If not handled properly, stress can lead to physical and emotional illness. No one can avoid stress, but a person can

language writer to receive the prize. Among other honours, he was sounded out for the British Poet Laureateship and on several occasions for a knighthood, all of which he declined. Later in life Kipling came to be recognized as a "prophet of British imperialism." Many saw prejudice and militarism in his works, and the resulting controversy about him continued for much of the 20th century. Kipling kept writing until the early 1930s, but at a slower pace and with much less success than before. He died of perforated duodenal ulcer on 18 January 1936, two days before George V, at the age of 70. His death had in fact previously been incorrectly announced in a magazine, to which he wrote, "I've just read that I am dead. Don't forget to delete me from your list of subscribers." Rudyard Kipling was cremated at Golders Green Crematorium and his ashes were buried in Poets' Corner, part of the South Transept of Westminster Abbey, where many

And all other religions combined – an umbrella category that includes Baha’is, Jains, Sikhs, Taoists and many smaller faiths – are projected to increase 6%, from a total of approximately 58 million to more than 61 million over the same period.3 While growing in absolute size, however, folk religions, Judaism and “other religions” (the umbrella category considered as a whole) will not keep pace with global population growth. Each of these groups is projected to make up a smaller percentage of the world’s population in 2050 than it did in 2010.4 Similarly, the religiously unaffiliated population is projected to shrink as a percentage of the global population, even though it will increase in absolute number. In 2010, censuses and surveys indicate, there were about 1.1 billion atheists, agnostics and people who do not identify with any particular religion
