Püha Siimeoni ja naisprohvet Hanna kirik Tallinnas

Church of St. Simeon and the Prophetess Hanna Nestled along a street near Tallinn Harbour is this fairytale, wooden church built in 1752 - 55 on the initiative of Russian sailors. St. Simeon's is the second Orthodox church to have sprung up as part of the suburban building boom that followed the Great Northern War. Since the coastline was considerably closer to the city in those days, the church was built practically on the edge of the water, and its foundation required some landfill. According to legend, rubble from shipwrecks was used for this purpose. The building was seriously damaged during the Soviet period, when it was turned into a sports hall. During this time it also lost its bell tower

My home town of Valga

Where else could you stand, one foot in one country, holding "jäätis" in your left hand and other foot in another country, holding "saldejums" in your right hand? · The Roman-Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit (Pühavaimu kirik) was built 1907 and unlike other churches, has no tower as the Tzar did not give permission to build it. · Right by the market square, there is a remarkable sample of an historic style church: The Apostolic Orthodox Issidor main church with it´s 5 towers. It is one of the four representative apostolic orthodox churches in Estonia. · Jaani church in the town centre represents neo-classical style and is the only oval-planning church in Estonia. The local organ is among the best organs in Europe and every midday and midnight, the bells of Jaani church play a melody composed especially for Valga.

Tolerance and diversity (essee)

For example, there are regions on bigger towns where in the streets I can hear only Russian. most older and middle aged people can speak in russian. Since there are main language in our society, most jobs inquire speaking them, too. Young Russian- Estonians speak both, so they have advantages there. Thirdly, the situation with religions is a diverse. It is a fact that Estonia is the most atheist country in the world. The biggest religious minorities are lutherans, Russian Orthodox. Some people have faith is very important. It is believed that God is the one who forgives them for their sinful. But in our country are not forced religion against, we have freedom of religion. Finally, In my opinion, it is a problem to some extent in every country of tolerance between different races. In particular, a large grudge against the Russians, Estonians, just because of our past.

Estonian culture

been influenced by the traditions of the adjacent area's various Finnic, Baltic, Slavic and Germanic peoples as well as the cultural developments in the former dominant powers Sweden and Russia. Traditionally, Estonia has been seen as an area of rivalry between western and eastern Europe on many levels. An example of this geopolitical legacy is an exceptional combination of nationally recognized Christian traditions: a western Protestant and an eastern Orthodox Church. Like the mainstream culture in the other Nordic countries, Estonian culture can be seen to build upon the ascetic environmental realities and traditional livelihoods, a heritage of comparatively widespread egalitarianism out of practical reasons (see e.g.: Everyman's right and universal suffrage), and the ideals of closeness to nature and self-sufficiency. Estonian culture developed in earnest during the nineteenth-century period of national awakening

Nikola Tesla - lugemistest koos videoga

Tesla also worked with Marconi. Others made fortunes with his inventions, but Tesla was penniless and rejected as he failed to protect his commercial interests. He invested all his money into inventions to make men’s life a little easier. Tesla was born at the stroke of midnight between July 9th and 10th 1856. A fierce electrical storm raged that night. His father was an Orthodox priest. His mother accompanied by .one of the oldest Serbian families. In his boyhood he suffered from a peculiar reflection due to the appearance of images often descended from strong flashes of light. He was unable to distinguish whether what he saw was tangible or not. He pictured the Niagara in his imagination as a big wheel run by the Nature. In his room he could hear the ticking of a watch with 3 rooms between him and the timepiece.

Hagia Sophia

The current building was originally constructed as a church between 532 and 537 A.D. on the orders of the Byzantine Emperor Justinian, and was in fact the third Church of the Holy Wisdom to occupy the site. It was designed by two architects. Church contained a large collection of holy relics and featured, among other things, a 50 foot (15 m) silver iconostasis. It was the patriarchal church of the Patriarch of Constantinople and the religious focal point of the Eastern Orthodox Church for nearly 1000 years. In 1453 Sultan Mehmed II ordered the building to be converted into a mosque. The bells, altar, iconostasis, and sacrificial vessels were removed, and many of the mosaics were eventually plastered over. The Islamic features -- such as the mihrab, the minbar, and the four minarets outside -- were added over the course of its history under the Ottomans. It was in 1935 that the first Turkish President - Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, converted the mosque into a museum

Old Tallinn

Old Tallinn Old Town, a medieval walled city filled with old buildings and fortifications. The sheltered bay and the easily defended Toompea Hill made it a natural place to settle. Sometime about 1050 A.D. a fortress was built atop the hill, the first of many. In 1219 the Danes showed up as part of the Northern Crusade to subjugate the Baltics and convert the local pagans to Christianity whether they wanted to or not. The Danes improved the fortifications and expanded the town, which became part of the Hanseatic League, a trading organization of a hundred northern cities. The Danes sold Tallinn to the Livonan Order, a branch of the Teutonic Knights, in 1346. The Swedes came next in 1561. Tallinn weathered plague and the Great Northern War and became part of Russia in 1710. In 1918, Estonia declared independence from Russia and fought a bitter war against Bolshevik Russia. Independence didn’t last long, ...

This area was once a separate town (Dom zu Reval), the residence of the Chivalry of Estonia, Roman Catholic bishops of Tallinn (until 1561) and Lutheran superintendents of Estonia, occupying an easily defensible site overlooking the surrounding districts. The major attractions are the walls and various bastions of Castrum Danorum, the Russian Orthodox Alexandr Nevsky Cathedral (built during the period of Russian Empire, the church was built on a site that formerly housed a statue of Martin Luther) and the Lutheran Cathedral. Kadriorg is 2 kilometres east of the centre and is served by buses and trams. The former palace of Peter the Great, built just after the Great Northern War, now houses (part of) the Art Museum of Estonia, presidential residence and the surrounding grounds include formal gardens and woodland.

Now considered a "Rasta" legend, Marley's adoption of the characteristic Rastafari dreadlocks, famous use of cannabis as a sacred sacrament, and vegetarianism [8], which in the late sixties were an integral part of his persona. He is said to have entered every performance proclaiming the divinity of Jah Rastafari. On November 4, 1980 Marley was baptized by the Archbishop of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church in Kingston, Jamaica. Here is what Archbishop Abuna Yesehaq had to say on Marley: "Bob was really a good brother, a child of God, regardless of how people looked at him. He had a desire to be baptised long ago, but there were people close to him who controlled him and who were aligned to a different aspect of Rastafari . But he came to Church regularly. The Origins of American Literature

The origins of American literature The first Americans were explorers and settlers, adventurers and idealists who crossed the ocean in search of new opportunities or to escape the poverty and intolerance. Their writings were matter-of-fact accounts of life in America, which explained colonisation to Englishmen back in the homeland. An example of this form of writing is John Smith's A True Relation of Virginia, which is widely recognized to be the first example of Am lit. The early years of colonisation produced a mass of utilitarian writings including biographies, accounts of voyages, diaries, sermons, pamphlets. Much of the material addressed the problems of Church and State. There were few examples of fiction, poetry or drama. Anne Bradstreet of Massachusetts published some lyrical poems of high literary quality (1650) and Edward Taylor, who was born in England but lived in Boston, wrote some poetry in the style of John ...

ISLAM

ISLAM Islam is a monotheistic and Abrahamic religion articulated by the Koran, a book considered by its adherents to be the verbatim word of God. By the teachings and normative example of Muhhamad, considered by them to be the last prophet of God. An adherent of Islam is called Muslim. Muslims believe that God is one and incomparable and the purpose of existence is to worship God. Muslims are beliving that Islam is the complete and universal version of a primordial faith that was revealed before many times throughout the world, including notably through Noah, Adam, Abraham, Jesus and Moses, whom they consider prophets. They belive that the previous messages and revelations have been partially misinterpreted or alerted over time, but consider the Arabic Koran to be both the unalerted and the final revelation of God. The Baltic Landesstaat reached its full development. The freedom of action in the new provinces was naturally granted to one of the most firm ideological pillars of the tsarist empire -- the Russian orthodox church; though as the Landeskirche in the Estonian and Livonian territories, the Lutheran church long maintained a de facto predominance. peale just nagu kontrollitud lõhkamiste puhul juhtub. Faktid:

Over the next four decades, Christians will remain the largest religious group, but Islam will grow faster than any other major religion. If current trends continue, by 2050 …  The number of Muslims will nearly equal the number of Christians around the world.  Atheists, agnostics and other people who do not affiliate with any religion – though increasing in countries such as the United States and Fra...

Europe. In Russia it is probably the most wide spread snack.[citation needed] It is also sold as food for birds and can be used directly in cooking and salads. Sunflower oil, extracted from the seeds, is used for cooking (but is less cardiohealthy than olive oil), as a carrier oil and to produce biodiesel, for which it is less expensive than the olive product. During the 18th Century, the use of sunflower oil became very popular in Europe, particularly with members of the Russian Orthodox Church because sunflower oil was one of the few oils that was not prohibited during Lent. The cake remaining after the seeds have been processed for oil is used as a livestock feed. Some recently developed cultivars have drooping heads. These cultivars are less attractive to gardeners growing the flowers as ornamental plants, but appeal to farmers, because they reduce bird damage and losses from some plant diseases. There are also

All four accept the validity of the others and a Muslim might choose any one that he or she finds agreeable, but other Islamic sects are believed to have departed from the majority by introducing innovations (bidah). There are also several orthodox theological or philosophical traditions within Sunnism. For example, the recent Salafi movement sees itself as restorationist and claims to derive its teachings from the original sources of Islam. Sest lõppeks nägi ka Marx ette, et eesmärgiks on asjade tootmine oma vajaduste rahuldamiseks, kogu maailma kasutamine loovalt. 8. Millisena näevad tarbijat ja tarbimisühiskonda Frankfurti koolkond? Mis probleeme tõstatab sellest tulenevalt Herbert Marcuse? The Frankfurt School gathered together dissident Marxists, severe critics of capitalism who believed that some of Marx's followers had come to parrot a narrow selection of Marx's ideas, usually in defense of orthodox Communist or Social-Democratic parties. Influenced especially by the failure of working-class revolutions in Western Europe after World War I and by the rise of Nazism in an economically and technologically advanced nation (Germany), they took up the task of choosing what parts of Marx's thought might serve to clarify social conditions that Marx himself had never seen. Huntington also includes the Pacific Islands, East Timor, Suriname, French Guiana, and northern and central Philippines. constructed out of a diglossia situation as a top-down process in a partly multi-lingual environment. Over the last few centuries, the development of society and its political upshots have produced agendas for linguistic inquiry and discourse on language, some of which have had an impact on the development of Russian and contingent languages and their social functions, as well as on the development of linguistics as a global discipline. Six such agendas can be pinpointed: (1) the Orthodox emancipation agenda (1600-1700), (2) the Russian nation building agenda (1700-present), (3) the scientific agenda (1860-present), (4) the Marxist agenda (1917-1989), (5) the Eurasian agenda (1920-1935), (6) the cybernetic agenda (1953-1975). "Anna Karenina" kokkuvõte

"Anna Karenina" Lev Tolstoi Part 1 The novel opens with a scene introducing Prince Stepan Arkadyevitch Oblonsky, "Stiva", a Moscow aristocrat and civil servant who has been unfaithful to his wife Darya Alexandrovna, nicknamed "Dolly". Dolly has discovered his affair - with the family's governess - and the house and family are in turmoil. Stiva's affair and his reaction to his wife's distress shows an amorous personality that he cannot seem to suppress. In the midst of the turmoil, Stiva reminds the household that his married sister, Anna Arkadyevna Karenina is coming to visit from Saint Petersburg. Meanwhile, Stiva's childhood friend Konstantin Dmitrievich Levin ("Kostya") arrives in Moscow with the aim of proposing to Dolly's youngest sister Princess Ekaterina Alexandrovna Shcherbatskaya, "Kitty". Levin is a passionate, restless but shy aristocratic landowner who, unlike his Moscow friends, chooses to live in the country on hi...

philosophy. This intellectual novel is very philosophical novel. By far the greatest, most famous novelists is Saul Bellow. He belongs to the jewish american tradition and his background is very clearly reflected in his writing. As a result of the prosecution of jews, the family is crucial for them, their last sanctuary. At the same time, there is a lot of generation tension. Because the older generation remembers traditions and customs. The younger generation doesn't want to live the orthodox way, jewish literature is chracterized by humour. Very intellectual and self ironic humour. Also many of the jewish immigrants come from europe and their background is not hebrew but Yiddish-indoeuropean language based on German. Bellows novels are filled with metaphysical reflection on what man is, on the future of civilization and Bellow is trying to analyze fundamental truths, veritys of life. In a way he is agains post modernism, he is antipostmodern

The term "Frankfurt School" is an informal term used to designate the thinkers affiliated with the Institute for Social Research or who were influenced by it. It is not the title of any institution, and the main thinkers of the Frankfurt School did not use the term to describe themselves. oskusi – andekus ja loovus eeldavad samasuguseid kognitiivseid oskusi nagu probleemi määratlemine, selektiivne kodeerimine, oskus kasutada teadmisi uues kontekstis või kitsenduste (või piirangute) ületamine.
