Whale
Members of a pod may protect one another. The toothed whales travel
in large, sometimes stable pods,they frequently hunt their prey in groups,
migrate together, and share care of their young. Baleen whales usually travel
alone or in small pods.
These enormous animals eat about 4 tons of tiny krill each day, obtained
by filter feeding through baleen. Adult blue whales have no predators except
man. Their food ranges from microscopic plankton to very large animals. Some
whale species like Orchas ( who are called ,, killer whales") may eat their
friends, family- other whales.
Some species of large whales are listed as endangered, because of the
hunters. They have been hunted commercially for whale oil, meat and baleen
since the 17th century. Current whaling nations are Norway, Iceland and Japan
and the aboriginal communities of Siberia, Alaska and northern Canada. In the
