mankind. Psychology hopes to find a route back to understand the individual event. It tries to find explanations to some behaviors and once such explanations are found, they may lead to practical applications; to hel counsel and guide, and perhaps to effect desirable changes. BIOLOGICAL BASES OF BEHAVIOR Any question about bodily movement must inevitably call for some reference to the nervous system, for tu us it is quite clear that the nrevous system is the apparatus which most directly determines and organizes an organisms reactions to the world in which it lives. Rene Descartes and the Reflex Concept: All action was essentially a response to some event in the outside world. Something from the outside excites one of the senses. This transmits the excitation upward to the brain, which then relays the excitation downward to a muscle

As I was making my way to the plane, I was going over seven steps in my mind: count to seven, grab the controls, check the dome, check the wind direction, make sure anybody isn’t close, locate the landing area and prepare for landing 600 meters above ground. It all sounded very easy in my mind, but how would I know it if I had never done it before? We were getting on the plane and I was getting more and more nervous, when our instructor told us that if we did not jump he would kick us out with his leg and that made me even more nervous. After we got to the jumping altitude our instructor opened the door and told me: “You are first”. As I was making my way to the door I tried to calm myself down but thinking about jumping made that very difficult. Few seconds later I took all the courage that I had collected and just jumped off the plane and after that everything started to calm down

Her day gets worse when she gives the wrong answer in Trig and has to play Volley-ball ending up hitting her team mate on the head with the ball giving us further proof of her clumsy nature. However, the worst part of this second day is that Edward Cullen is not in school and for some reason Bella can't stop thinking about him and his behaviour of the previous day. She feels nervous and uncomfortable, waiting to see if he is in school. Bella feels as if his lack of presence is her fault, despite common sense trying to tell her otherwise. At the end of the day, as she is leaving school, Bella notices the car belonging to the Cullens and Hales, and their clothes. She realises that they look wealthy. Their car is expensive and well looked after and their clothes are particularly fine. Showing a high degree of insight and perception, Bella

Drug abuse

Use of these drugs may lead to criminal penalty. Other definitions of drug abuse fall into four main categories: public health definitions, mass communication and vernacular usage, medical definitions, and political and criminal justice definitions. Depending on the actual compound, drug misuse including alcohol may lead to health and social problems: such as injuries, unprotected sex, violence, deaths, vehicle accidents, homo and suicides and mortality. Drug abuse makes central nervous system effects, which produce changes in mood, levels of awareness or perceptions and sensations. Some drugs appear to be more likely to lead to uncontrolled use than others. Bans Most governments have designed legislation to criminalise certain types of drug use. These drugs are often called "illegal drugs" but generally what is illegal is their unlicensed production, distribution, and possession. These drugs are also called "controlled substances".

Exams are a must. Are they necessary? Recently, exams are made quite often and also to early, even in primary schools. People think they are the best way to test intelligence. But is it so? I think no, they aren't best way to test intelligent. Because the majority of students are very nervous during exams and they can't focus and making mistakes. There also will not be enough time. Does anyone in real life situation prohibit you to check your spelling grammar from dictionary or look online help for the problems. Some people are smarter, while others do not. Also I hate thinking like all people need to be good at any skill. It's impossible, there are smart people and creative people, never both, who have both skills have poor skills. Violet says that Litlle Charles is Beverly’s son and she has known that by years. And then Barbara gets nervous and attacks her mum. I recommend that film for everyone because everyone have a family and when you see that film, then maybe you realized, that your family is quite good and not the worstest. Grand Torino is not a typical American film at all; it even reminds me of a 1992 Australian film Romper Stomper which talks about the same problem- intolerance. The film also shows that if only people from different cultures want to live together in a friendly atmosphere and in harmony, they can achieve this but it may take time and willingness to understand others. I think this film is meant to be shown to persons who have a strong nervous system and who want to know what is happening in some of the neighborhoods of Detroit. I strongly recommend this piece of art to everyone, because it is interesting, well- scripted and humorous but also informative and educational. Mark-Hendrik Mäeste

How has the nature of fame changed?

Fame was controlled not by the famous and certainly not by the audience, but by the owners of the media. The lives of the rich and the famous used to be mysterious and even inexplicable. It was so foreign and artificial a construct that we thought that fame made you special. The rise of reality TV, however, was a major step in the changing nature of celebrity. “Normal people” became stars overnight. The dominance of smartphones and social media has meant that the public records everything: nervous breakdowns, breakups and displays of erratic behavior, and popular celebrities seem to have become beloved for being like us – or at least more photogenic versions of us. These days, celebrity at the most basic level, just simply means “being known” among a group of people and having a certain opinion that others look up to. It also comes with agreeing to give up your privacy to a large extent. The concept of being a celebrity is has been redefined and thus by default this new age

In addition, dioxins which were released into the environment many years ago are still contributing to current exposure. Even very small dioxin concentrations can cause negative effects on the environment and on human health, in particular on the most vulnerable groups like children. Human health effects include impairment of the immune system, the nervous system, the hormonal system and the reproductive functions. Dioxins are also suspected of causing cancer. How Are We Exposed to Dioxins? Although formation of dioxins is local, environmental distribution is global. Dioxins are found throughout the world in the environment. The highest levels of these compounds are found in some soils, sediments and food, especially dairy products, meat, fish and shellfish. Very low levels are found in plants, water and air.

Stress

Although the body begins to try to adapt (kohanduma) to the strains (pinge) or demands (nõudmistega) of the environment, the body cannot keep this up indefinitely (määramatult), so its resources are gradually depleted (otsakorral). Exhaustion (kurnatus) is the third and final. At this point, all of the body's resources are eventually depleted (otsakorral) and the body is unable to maintain (säilitama) normal function. The initial (algne) autonomic nervous system symptoms may reappear (sweating, raised heart rate etc.). If stage three is extended (pikendatud), long term damage may result as the body, and the immune system is exhausted and function is impaired (kahjustatud) resulting in decompensation (tasakaalust väljas). There are several ways of coping (toimetulemine) with stress. Some techniques of time management (aja mahavõtmine?) may help a person to control stress. In the face of high

Genetic Engineering

It is known, that the population of our globe is growing steadily and because of it has appeared a problem of shortage of the food. And genetic engineering is able to solve this problems, because there are used some technologies which modify organisms genes and give them new properties, such as resistnce to some diseases, cold weather or wreckers. Also was found out that it is possible to treat oncological diseases or hereditary diseases of a brain and nervous system by using genetic engineering and research inflammatory and immunological diseases. In the economic plan genetic engineering is very favorable. First of all, terms of creating of a new sort are reduced to a minimum, and it means that time and money, which are usually left for selection works, are saved. Secondly, genetically modified products are steady against insects and do not need toxic chemicals and productivity of genetically

families and in some cases kids who have to grow up with one parent. Not to mention the wounded ones, who will suffer from the actions of the war for the rest of their lives. Firstly, soldiers who go through death of friends, companions and enemies have a big hole in their souls. Seeing death isn`t something you can just forget, it becomes a memory that he doesn`t want to remember. Some soldiers do not have strong nervous system and they can go crazy, some of them can go even a bedlam. If the soldier has been in the war but haven't had any visible injuries it doesn`t mean that he isn´t wounded. We can never know what he saw and how did it effect him mentally. Furthermore, every soldier who dies in the war leaves a grieving relative behind. It can be a mother, a father, a wife, a husband or in the saddest case a child who now have to grow up with one parent

John whispered, "I think I remember somebody telling me that this house is haunted." "No way," Ben said, pushing open the gate. Suddenly, a strong gust of wind rustled the leaves and a loud crash came from the porch. Both friends jumped at the noise. "It's just the wind," Ben said a little shakily. Although Ben and John felt a little nervous, they walked slowly through the creaky front gate and up the long sidewalk. The old stairs creaked as they climbed onto the porch. Lying on the floor of the porch they saw a broken flower pot. "That's what made the loud crash we heard," Ben said. "See? There's nothing scary here." "Yeah," John said, "Go ahead, Ben." Just then Ben and John saw a large, strange shadow behind the wavy glass in the front door. Suddenly, the shadow started moving towards them

edge of a cliff. Next day Holden calls his former English teacher, Mr. Antolini, who tells Holden he can come to his apartment. The teacher asks Holden what does he want from his life and tries to give good advice to the boy. In the evening Holden returns to see Phoebe and takes her to a amusing park. Watching his sister riding on a carousel laughing brings out Holdens tears, and almost causes him a nervous breakdown. The story ends with Holden talking to a psychiatrist, who tries to ,,open him up". Although, critics have chewed on it for a long time, it was an interesting book, writen in a colloquial style, which really fits for younger people to read. Thatswhy I would reccomend ,,The Catcher in the Rye" to people my age. Andreas Kahk

They each sat in different rows and in the middle seats. When arriving to the plane, the flight attendants said they could do nothing about it. Although he was accompanied by his grandfather on the plane, my underaged, 14 year-old son had to endure the flight in the middle of strangers. How is possible that all the companions were separated from each other? They bought their tickets together, and furthermore – how can they separate a 14-year old from his guardian? As a parent, I was very nervous. As well as my travelling child. He felt uncomfortable the duration of the flight. He was afraid to fall asleep, uncomfortable asking the people next to him to go to go to the restroom, etc. I do not think my child or I will use this airline in the future. It caused stress and added expenses – time, phone calls, drive to the airport, etc. Luckily, 24 hours before coming back from Toronto we did an online check in (as recommended by LOT customer service) and everything went well.
