Estonians and their habits There are hundreds of different countries and nationalities in the world and each one is peculiar in its own way. For example, Italians are very impulsive. French people don't like the British. Germans are pedantic. Russians are generous, but lazy. What about Estonians? In Estonia when a stranger on a street smiles at you, you can assume that: he is either drunk, insane, from another country or all of the above. Estonians don't smile too often. Estonians are not very talkative either. In Estonian schools teachers have stopped

Tallinn History of Tallinn The first traces of human settlement found in Tallinn's city center by archeologists are about 5000 years old. The first fortress was built in 1050, on Toompea. A weather fane, the figure of an old warrior called Old Thomas, was put on the top of the spire of the Tallinn Town Hall in 1530, which became the symbol for the city later on. Tourism Tallinn receives more than 1.5 million visitors annually, and it has been growing steadily since the past decade. Tallinn’s old town is a major tourist attraction There’s the Seaplane Harbour, the Zoo and the Open Air Museum. Most of the tourists are from Europe, but the sum of of tourists from Russia and Asia-Pacific region is growing Ethnicity There are around 226000 Estonians, which is close to 55% of the nationality Then...
After a dispute between students and townsfolk broke out in 1209, some of the academics at Oxford fled north-east to the town of Cambridge, where the University of Cambridge was founded. The two universities have since had a long history of competition with each other. Interesting to know Oxford is consistently ranked in the world's top 10 universities. Oxford's motto is Dominus Illuminatio Mea (Latin). Motto in English: "The Lord is my Light". More than a hundred and thirty nationalities are represented among a student population of over eighteen thousand. Almost a quarter comes from outside the UK. Opportunities Students successful in early examinations are rewarded by their colleges with scholarships and exhibitions. There are many opportunities for students at Oxford to receive financial help during their studies. Information: http://www.ox.ac.uk/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxford_Unive rsity Thank You!
ÕBE 11 Summary On the basis of the above, I would like to summarizy explain what are the main principles of the internatinal meetings. First and foremost must be determined issue to consider after that organizers begin to plan. Next important issue that such meeting`s participants come from different countries, so identifying their nationalities must be taken into account. Meetings that last for several days need to be scheduled for any social program for the participants. Now consider the reasons for suchkind of meeting. There are: - rewarding performance; - creating opprtunities for professional development; - to introduce new products; - increase a sales pitch. Now move on to the problems typical in international meetings.A classic mistake is that meeting`s material arrives after one meeting ended, ignorance of the cultural
To: Tallinn Tourism Office From: Edgar Rootalu Date: 05.12.2008 Subject: Tourist capabilities in Tallinn Tallinn is a very good city for tourism. It has populatin of 403 547 people to be exact, so its not very crowded and not a hamlet too. There's plenty to do in this historic city. Tallinn really has a long history of its names and flag. There have been many rulers with different nationalities, so there are marks of their architecture too. There are very many positive things connected with that city: · Tallinn has a very special old town that you cannot find in any other countries. It has middle age architecture combined with little modern one. · Kadriorg palace ensemble is beautiful place, especially in Spirng when teh nature is ,,waking up". · Tallinn also has big shopping centres where you can take a cup of good quality coffee
Tolerance and diversity. People from different nationalities living in our country, they are obviously already a quarter of our population. Therefore our country´s population has several diversities. Firstly, I am going to discuss about how a minority in the population of our country. almost 20 percent of all the people in Estonia are Russians. Many of them live on the east side of our country near the Estonian-Russian border. It often happens that they do not speak our language. This creates tensions between people our country.
in 1066 it had become the most important city in Britain. It grew area and population until September 1666, when the Great fire destroyed four fifths of the wooden buildings in the City. The fire began in the kitchen of the King's baker in Pudding Lane and lasted for five days. By now London is a city of seven million people covering over 1,5 square miles. Nowadays the population of London is made up of the people of very many nationalities. It is a popular place to live because there is something new to see and do every day. A quick and easy way to get to different places in London is to use the Underground trains. The trains run all day and most of the night. But you can see much more of London from one of its famous red double-decker buses. There are many famous sights in London. Like Big Pen. What is a very big clock tower in center of London

Different nations. There has always been a moving and mixing of people, caused by different reasons. As a result of this process people now have mixed cultures and many cultural conflicts. It should be easy and good to live in a town full on different cultures, but it may cause some trouble to. Countries with rich diversity usually do not have a race problem.Small countries with only one or two nationalities can be the centre of such problem. The people in these countries do not have any experiences with other origins people, because they aren't used to it. When they see, for example, a black-skinned person ,they start whispering. However, people who grew up in countries with wide diversity, are much more tolerant. They meet different origins and skin colours every day. Different cultures make the country interesting place to live. They can introduce their customs and culture to others
I work full-time so my work schedule is rather busy. In a typical month I work around 160 to 170 hours. Usually I work four days in a row and then I have two days off. I love my timesheet because it allows me to go to school. Every day I serve and advise customers and also handle payments. At work, I have to behave responsibly, smile a lot, and listen to the customers. My colleagues are very nice. They are different ages, different genders, and different nationalities. Russians are the friendliest, happiest and they smile all the time. Tallinna Teeninduskool MK13-TE2 An advantage of my work is communicating with different people. The work is very straightforward and it is easy to learn. At work I do not like long workdays. I have to stand or sit all day and I can’t move anywhere. Some customers are rude, but I still have to be polite and smile. This is not my dream job, but that's why I went to school.
Some of my friends, as well as couple of my family members are strong pessimists. While spending time with them I feel how their negative and passive attitude is slowly starting to affect me too. I wish it would be the other way round - I'd affect them with my positivity. But I guess unfortunately I adopt different attitudes a lot more easily rather than spreading mine forwards. I think attitudes vary when it comes to different nationalities and cultures. While travelling, I've noticed how different people actually could be, and it depends quite much on where they are from. I think a lot of people would agree with me if I'd say that estonians, for example, are mostly pessimists and always seem to find something bad even in absolutely superb occasions. But, geographically speaking, the more south we go, the more positive attitudes people have. But of course even they have setback in life sometimes.
It grew in area and population until September 1666, when the Great Fire destroyed four fifths of the wooden buildings in the City including ST Paul's Cathedral. The fire lasted for five days. By now London has swallowed up many of the small towns and villages that surrounded it. It is a city of seven million pepole covering 1,606 square miles. London is an exciting city which attracts people from all over the world. Nowadays the population of London is made up of the people of many nationalities because it is a popular place to live. Many visitors come to see the famous sights, museums and galleries. London's West End has many theatres and concert halls, which attract both the inhabitants and tourists. The most usual means of transport in London are Underground trains and red double decker buses. A quick and easy way to travel around the city is to use the Underground trains, which run all day and most of the night. But you can see much more of London from red double decker buses
and in Põhja-Tallinn speaking non of Estonian and receive an impression about that the Russians do not learn languages. But according to the diagram what shows us that 31% Russians learn languages against Estonians whose percentage is 19,6%. And the comprehension about that the Russians learn less languages than Estonians is wrong. The last hobby is folk music. For my surprise, the young Estonian and Russian people both like folk. Some of them are in folk groups. 9.1% of youngsters from both nationalities love it. But 9.1% is not a big percentage. There are many hobbies that are more popular. To conclude, according to these two pie charts it seems that Russians are more active than Estonians. Russians care more about than bodies and health. I think that Russians have more free time because it seems that they have more hobbies. Also it is crucial for more Estonian youngsters to learn languages for compared to the Russian youth Estonians have a lot of room for improvement
Story about English humor At first, I have to say that English humor is very frightening and quite shocking for us, Estonians. But if to talk about British people and their humor then for them, it's more than everyday life. It is something they are use to see and hear every day, day after another. They do not take it that serious as the other nationalities would and they are definitely the best laughers at themselves. The brightest memory I have from those two videos is that guy in the wheelchair. Unbelievable how selfish and rude they are! And no-one can do anything about that. If they say so then all the people around them have to act like they wish. They are absolutely innocently taking the advantage of other innocent people. Certainly we cannot talk about all disabled people from that point of view, but the exception affirms the rule

They don't have stereotypes of people built in their mind. In addition they are not influenced by elder's opinions. Elder people do not agree with the fact that their daughter or son might get married to a representative of another race. However young people would say that love is blind and so is friendship. Diversity is related to tolerance. Countries with rich diversity also do not have a tolerance problem. However, small countries with only one or two nationalities can be the centre of such problem. The people in these countries do not have any experiences with other origin folk, because they aren't accustomed to it. When they see, for example, a black-skinned person they start whispering. which had helped him to manage his life by the the time he was in prison. The film teaches people to accept and respect other people. Some people have an opinion that black people don't worth anything but actually every person is human being and deserves a polite and respective attitude. This film was a sheer example that the appearance isn't the most important thing, more important is that people would accept others even when they come from different cultures and nationalities. In the film Nelson Mandela tried to do all possible to connect blacks and whites and to change their prejudices. My favourite place about this film was when the Springboks team visited young and poor children, who were deeply interested about learning rugby. This moment was really heart- warming and positive, the emotions of the team members were pure and sincere. The main characters, Morgan Freeman as Nelson Mandela and Matt Damon as Francois Pienaar, were skilled and they acted well

Riots 2) Racism is a common problem in many countries and in Englad it is present because there are many immigrants from all over the world. As it is a widespread social problem it's also one of the worst ones, because the hatred directed to different races or even nationalities makes the foreign people feel bad and also to hate the locals. This brings up many conflicts like the bombings in 2005 (when 4 islamic suicide bombers killed thmeselves and 52 civilians), but usually the conflicts are smaller, like brawls between different ethnic groups or mockery and insults. 3)In 1999 was the biggest racism related crime in the last 3 decades, when a Neo-Nazi David Copeland placed homemade nailbombs at public places
ESTONIAN BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT Estonia is a country with the population of just a little over 1.3 million people. It has been estimated though, that by the year of 2040 the number will have decreased by 125,000 people. It means that the population of Estonia is decreasing. As young Estonians often like to go study or live abroad, the population is aging as well – young people move away, while older stay there. Many different nationalities live there: besides Estonians there are Russians, Ukrainians, Belarussians, Finnish, Tatars, Latvians, Poles, Lithuanians, Jews, Germans and others. Due to this fact, the most popular languages spoken as a mother language are Estonian, Russian and Ukrainian. Nevertheless, there is still just one official language of Estonia, which is Estonian. Most of the people, approximately 900,000 live in the cities, such as Tallinn, Tartu, Narva

world. Also a world government would help to rationalize recourses. As there would not be any duplicating, allowing much faster development of new technologies and faster production. In addition recourses would not pile up in one place because they would be diverted to places where the need is greatest. But there is a downside to a world government. Through unification of people and countries, smaller nations would lose their identity. It means smaller nationalities would simply fade away, they would be dissolved. Germanys only concern was to keep themselves happy and powerful. They wanted to make themselves the superior race. Hitlers idea of the perfect race, the Aryan race also didn't help, because the Aryan race should have people with light eyes, hair and skin, they should be tall and powerful. He didn't care for people who didn't meet his expectations of the perfect race. In

says just half true. Our world is very huge and sending a message from America to Asia a hundred years ago was nearly impossible or it took a lot of time. Nowadays you can send the message in a few seconds and it is very simple. The media makes the world much smaller particularly the TV and the Internet. When you turn on the TV or a computer you can see whole world like it would be in the next village. You can learn the culture and habits of other nationalities, you can see what they are doing right now. The world is also called `the global community village'. There are not only good things about media. Firstly there are always some information that are not true. We have to be careful about it but when you listen to media for a long time you can find some companies which are nearly always true. Secondly there is a danger of being influenced in the bad way (lot of pornography on the Internet, lot of action films in TV

shoul never be afraid of doing something ambitious, even when others do not have faith in you. It even does not matter if your expectations are going to be fulfilled, because you are gaining more experience and courage for sure and this is the most important thing. Stereotypes and their place in the society has interested me through out the years. I have even been an organizer for two Estonian-Finnish camps, the goal of which was to break the typical stereotypes between those two nationalities. For me, one of the most annoying stereotype is that being a small town inhabitant limits your opportunities of achieving your goals and fulfilling dreams. This isn’t true! In my opinion, being a small town inhabitant is a great advantage! We have to work harder to find the right ways to pursue our dreams and nothing comes easy to our hands. I really like this situation, because then we are going to enjoy our achievements more in the future and

Canada is a federation of 10 provinces (Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia) along with 3 territories (the Yukon Territory, the Nunavut Territory and the Northwest Territories). History The first explorers were of many nationalities and came to Canada as early as 1,000 A.D., but it was the French who first began to colonize early in the 17th century. This was largely a French country for a century and a half, although New Brunswick and the mainland of Nova Scotia were coded to Britain in 1713. In 1735 a war began between France and England over the fur trade in North America. Since 1759 and on to this day Canada became British.
Excise Duties: imposed on alcohol, tobacco, petrol etc. to limit the use of these goods. POPULATION The earliest traces of human habitation date from prehistoric times. In th the 13 century the population numbered between 100 000 and 200 000, but this figure changed as a result of wars, epidemics and migrations. In the mid 1800s many Estonians emigrated in the hope of finding good farmland and better living conditions. The census of 2000 showed that 47 different nationalities live in Estonia: 67,9% Estonians, 25,6% are Russian and also Ukrainians, Belarussians, Finns and Tatars. Estonian citizenship does not depend on ethnicity. It was automatically given to the people who had held it before 1940. at the beginning of 2003, the estimated population was 1 356 045, of which 54% were women.

aspects of their lives before and during their backpacking, as well as their future aspirations. 6 Participants often went to great lengths to explain why they travel as a lifestyle choice. The narratives of participants in India and Thailand were remarkably consistent. The 25 participants represented a range of 13 nationalities (Table 1), with English, Australians, Israelis and Canadians being the most common. All but four of the participants travelled alone, 11 were female and education levels were from high school dropout to masters degree holder. Participant age ranged from 23 to 50, with an average age of 30. Following transcription and repeated readings of the empirical material, formal interpretation was carried out using an inductive thematic analysis approach (Patton, 2002). This approach

for their independence, and in 1918 the Republic of Estonia was established and endured until 1940. In the summer of that year the Soviet Union occupied all three Baltic states. As a result of the deep inner crisis within the Soviet Empire it became possible to re-establish the Estonian Republic in August 1991. A month later Estonia joined the United Nations. In 1997 the population reached 1.462 million; from this Estonians total 65% (950,124) and other nationalities 35%. The capital Tallinn, mentioned for the first time in 1154, has a population of 434,800 (1995). Other important towns are Tartu, Kohtla-Järve, Narva and Pärnu. It seemed like a coin toss. This changed when I began to incorporate iso-lateral (one-arm or one-leg) resistance training. I logged faster to-sleep times after 8 out of 10 training sessions. The more complex the stabilization required, the shorter the to-sleep time. To experience this e ect for yourself, do a single session of pre-hab testing from the "Pre-Hab" chapter. TAKE A COLD BATH ONE HOUR PRIOR TO BED. The Japanese have longer average lifespans than most other nationalities, including Americans, whom they beat by more than four years. One explanation researchers have proposed is that the regular ofuro, or hot bath at bedtime, increases melatonin release and is related to mechanisms for life extension. Paradoxically, according to one of the Stanford professors who taught the sleep biology class I took circa 2002, cold is a more e ective signaler (aka zeitgeber, or "time giver") for sleep onset. Perhaps the ofuro e ect was related to the subsequent rapid cooling
