What Makes a Successful Manager?

He gives out orders to subordinates so that everything would function fluently and makes sure that those are fulfilled. A successful manager often is not a successful business owner because those are two totally different positions and demand for different qualities and personality traits. What makes a successful manager? Firstly, in my opinion the manager should be an excellent communicator and more important I find being a good motivator as employees normally quite often have ups and downs or loss of motivation, so it is crucial for the company that the manager were up to motivate and find suitable solutions for his subordinates. Secondly, I think that the manager should have a positive attitude, for example, even though the situation is really bad and some others would have given up as seeing it pointless, there are still managers who still are positive and self-confident and they will finally succeed. It is

mowing the lawn. They have never paid me for such jobs and I think I would feel rather bad if they did. I have understood that I need these domestic jobs done as much as everybody else in my family. My mother doesn't get paid for feeding me, so why should I be better than her. I know a family where one of the children gets paid for simple domestic jobs and the other does not. It seems unfair to me. On the other hand, I find that getting paid for chores could be rather good motivator for younger kids. In the world full of computers and TVs we are getting lazier day by day. Children nowadays may need this motivating. If there were more difficult jobs, they would understand how hard it is to earn money and how precious it is when you have earned it. In conclusion, my opinion is that it is very individual, whether a person should earn his/her pocket money or not. Obviously, it can be very instructive. Children's parents should decide whether he/she should get paid

Motivation essay

What are the benefits and drawbacks ? If I were a manager in a large production company I would motivate people at first by job security. But there are a lot of other aspects to motivate a workforce. I think that giving a secutity at work is the main aspect that will motivate workforce. Saying job security I mean healthy environment, good labuor relations and confidence which means that worker do not have to worry about losing the job. A good healthy environment is the main motivator, because when you work somewhere you do not feel yourself comfortable, you aint do work with maximum input. Good labour relations at work create a challenging and creative job, because if you do not communicate others with respect and friendliness, it is hard to make progression. And this is also a initiative to create oppurtunities for self development. Seemingly the main external motivation to attemt in some kind of work is salary. If the

Film Studies - The Black Dahlia

In the closing scene the audience sees much restriction of the rules. Codes and conventions connected to this genre are easily distinguisable. Still, ``The Black Dahlia`` is playing, developing the noir style. Two of the most important conventions in Film Noir are anti-hero and femme fatale. Anti-hero, detective Bucky Bleichert, in this particular case is played by Josh Hartnett. In older Noir movies, anti-hero is usually a detective, dominant, commited, confident and he has a personal motivator why he needs to sort out the mystery within the story. (Mystery is one of the conventions, though.) Especially in this sequence we see that Bucky is really confident, he has the power over Madeline and her father (they tell half of the truth), his personal motivator is the murder of his own partner. He is able to shoot a woman (Madeline) In well-known Noir films like ``The Big Sleep`` and ``Chinatown`` anti-hero doesn't really look like pretty-boy Bucky but a bit older and macho

Pharmacy management

The best managers select people on talent, not on intelligence, education or experience. And do not try to improve their staff's weak points but rather strengthen their strong points. Taylorism: rational model. Goal - productivity maximization. Monotonous, management by control, no personal initiatives. Human relations approach: goal employee satisfaction, participation, conflict solving, manager is MOTIVATOR, work still monotonous. Revisionism: integration between social system and technological system, appreciation and interesting work are important motivators. McGregor X/Y theory X: people are lazy, will avoid responsibility, avoid work, they desire only money. Y: people need independency, responsibility, naturally want to work. Sociotechnique: optimal mix of economic and social goals (task extension, enrichment, circulation).

matters are the results of multiple factors, thus in order to solve these issues, multiple coherent solutions are called for. The first problem is the result of growing human populous of Earth; this can be halted only by changing the traditions of many cultures and by educating people about the effects of overpopulation. Although, in order to reduce it even further, urbanisation has to be reversed and a way to do this would be to provide people with work in the country side, as it is the main motivator. The second, pollution, is mainly the consequence of industry and transportation, namely vehicles. First one could be avoided by improving production techniques and technology, in addition to boosting the use of recycled materials. The same actions could be implemented to the transportation system for a great impact. The cities of this century are going to face many hurdles, amongst them overpopulation and

Ingliskeelsete maade ühiskond ja kultuur, eksamiküsimused

Charles I’s son was called back from exile and crowned Charles II. However, the Parliament was firmly established by this time and no future monarch would ever seriously challenge its power. 17. Oliver Cromwell. A civil war broke out in 1642 between royalists and parliamentarians (led by Cromwell). Though a man of very little experience, Cromwell excelled at conducting the war. He established a good army and was an extraordinary motivator who believed a soldier should be trained, well fed and paid regularly. After the Civil War, he established a republic which the called the Commonwealth and started to rule as its Lord Protector”. Between 1653 and 1658 he ruled the UK, with more or less the same powers as a monarch, but as he was 'Lord Protector' of the Commonwealth, he had no crown. By the time Cromwell died, he, his system of

kiiremini edu saavutada. Motivaator on väliskeskkonna selline mõjur- impulses, kutsung, nõue, ähvardus, väljakutse, appihüüd, ahvatlus, millel on indiviidi kindlat käitumisviisi vallanda või kindlustav toime. Konspekt

Psühholoogia konspekt 2008 Tänapäeva psühholoogias on 5 teoreetilist suunda: 1.

For instance, immediately after casting a ballot, voters believe more strongly that their candidate will win (Regan 8{ Kilduff, 1988). Whirring Along Psychologists have long understood the power of the consistency principle to di- rect human action. Prominent early theorists such as Leon Festinger (1957), Fritz Heider (1946), and Theodore Newcomb (1953) viewed the desire for consistency as a central motivator of behavior. Is this tendency to be consistent really strong enough to compel us to do what we ordinarily would not want to do? There is no question about it. The drive to be (and look) consistent constitutes a highly potent weapon of social influence, often causing us to act in ways that are clearly contrary to our own best interest. Consider what happened when researchers staged thefts on a New York City beach to see if onlookers would risk personal harm to halt the crime. In the study,

The 4-Hour Body - An Uncommon Guide to Rapid Fat-Loss, Incredible Sex, and Becoming Superhuman - Timothy Ferriss

The fact of the matter is, there are no tools available to normal people which will tell us exactly how much energy we're burning or consuming. But if you're just kinda right and, more important, the numbers are directionally right, you can make a big difference with them. "Here's another helpful pseudo-science number: apparently, 10 pounds of weight loss is roughly a clothing size [XL L M]. That was a HUGE motivator. I loved donating clothes all year and doing guilt-free shopping. "As a nerd, I nd myself too easily discouraged by data collection projects where it's di cult or impossible to collect accurate data. Training myself to forget that made all the difference. "Added to this knowledge was a basic understanding of how metabolism works. Here are the main things I changed: breakfast within 30 minutes of waking and ve to six meals a day of roughly 200 calories each. How did I measure the calories

they will come." T h e Call might come from a book we read, or a movie we see. But something inside us has been struck like a bell, and the resulting vibrations spread out through our lives until change is inevitable. DRAMATIC FUNCTION: MOTIVATION Heralds provide motivation, offer the hero a challenge, and get the story rolling. T h e y alert the hero ( a n d the audience) that change and adventure are coming. An example of the H e r a l d archetype as a motivator in movies can be found in Alfred Hitchcock's Notorious. C a r y Grant plays a secret agent trying to enlist Ingrid Bergman, the playgirl daughter of a N a z i spy, in a noble cause. H e offers her both a challenge and an opportunity: She can overcome her bad reputation and the family shame by dedicating herself to C a r y s noble cause. ( T h e cause turns out to be not so noble later on, but that's another story.)
