The film starts with introducing the four main characters: a street-magician (Jesse Eisenberg); a beatiful lady who performs extreme tricks (Isla Fisher); a mentalist (Woody Harrelson) who reads poeple's mind using hypnosis to cheat off their money; and a humble illusionist (Dave Franco) who earns money with pickpocketing. A mysterious stranger slips each of them a Tarot card to what is written a date and an address. A year later a troupe of magicians called The Four Horseman, performs on Las Vegas. They represent a big difficult illusion, where a random person from audiance is teleported to bank in Paris in few seconds. About a minute later, the cash starts to fall down from the ceiling over the audience. The next day, FBI arrests The Four Horseman, and the big thrilling chase starts.
