Heart and Lung Health

Heart and Lung Health: This is one of the most important reasons to exercise. An inactive lifestyle is one of the major causes of heart diseases. While a lot of heart conditions occur when we are older, it is necessary to start exercising at a young age to keep our hearts strong as we age. Cardiovascular exercises like running, swimming, cycling, and aerobics are especially good for the heart, hence the name `cardiovascular'. These types of exercises help to maintain your blood pressure, reduce the bad cholesterol and increase the good cholesterol in your blood, reduce the risk of diabetes, and increase your endurance level so you don't easily run out of breath. Diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol are all conditions that the black individual is more susceptible to than most other races. Maintain a Healthy Weight: If you're on the internet reading this, you probably already know that exercise is vital to maintain a healt...

Cigarettes - Enemies or Friends?

Cigarettes include over 100 ingredients, many of them flavourants for the tobacco. A key ingredient that makes cigarettes more addictive is the inclusion of reconstituted tobacco, which has additives to make nicotine more volatile as the cigarette burns. So it contains these ingredients which are habit-forming and as we all know, it is really hard to abandon. When people think of cancers caused by smoking, the first one that comes to mind is always lung cancer. Most cases of lung cancer death, close to 90% in men, and 80% in women are caused by cigarette smoking. There are several other forms of cancer attributed to smoking as well. Smoking remains the leading cause of preventable death and has negative health impacts on people at all stages of life. It harms unborn babies, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and also seniors. All in all, cigarettes are definitely not our friends, likely enemies. They are quite expensive, they

The environment in realtion to mobility/transport in Europe

Through some pollution comes from these natural sources, most pollution is the result of human activity. The biggest causes are the operation of fossil fuel- burning power plants and automobiles that combust fuel. Combined, these two sources are responsible for about 90% of all air pollution in the United States. All kind of pollutions can lead us to serious health problems. For example, air pollution is increasingly being cited as the main cause of lung conditions such as asthma - twice as many people suffer from asthma today compared to 20 years ago. Every year, 3.2m Europeans are diagnosed with cancer - the most common cause of death after heart disease. Most widespread are cancers of the lungs, breast and colon. Diseases such as bronchitis, lung cancer and heart diseases may all eventually appear in people exposed to air pollution. When the wind blows, then it carries the pollution with him. Futhermore, the rain reduces the pollution

Thoughts on Air Pollution Essay

Every year, the health of countless people is ruined or endangered by air pollution. Many different chemicals in the air affect the human body in negative ways. Just how sick people will get depends on what chemicals they are exposed to, in what concentrations, and for how long. Studies have estimated that the number of people killed annually in the US alone could be over 50,000. Older people are highly vulnerable to diseases induced by air pollution. Those with heart or lung disorders are under additional risk. Children and infants are also at serious risk. Because people are exposed to so many potentially dangerous pollutants, it is often hard to know exactly which pollutants are responsible for causing sickness. Also, because a mixture of different pollutants can intensify sickness, it is often difficult to isolate those pollutants that are at fault. Many diseases could be caused by air pollution without their becoming apparent for a long time.

Konrad Mägi in English

Then he spent the summer on the islands of Åland in Finland and after that moved on to Paris. There Mägi practised drawing at free academies. After that, he lived in Norway, where he actually executed his first masterpieces a series of Norwegian landscapes. In 1912 Konrad Mägi returned to Estonia where Tartu became his main place of residence, and where he began to teach drawing. At the end of his life he was no longer able to carry on his work due to serious lung disease. He also destroyed one part of his invaluable works during hysteric attacks. He died at the age of forty-six in Tartu neural clinic. At the time "Valgjärv" (1916-1917) was painted, the artist painted mostly in South Estonia and in connection with that there occurred a change in his choice of motifs. The former intimate views of a small part of the scenery were replaced by wide panoramas with lakes on the background of distant hills. The "Valgjärv", in which the ultramarine

exposures. We conducted an ecological study in a small town in Japan where the groundwater with high concentrations of radon is supplied as utilities. A total of 607 cancer deaths were ascertained by vital statistics in that town from 1972 to 1997. Standardized mortality ratios on the basis of national rates were 1.01 (95% confidence interval; 0.93-1.09) for all cancers, 1.10 (0.95-1.28) for stomach cancer, 0.88 (0.70-1.10) for lung cancer, and 1.14 (0.87-1.48) for liver cancer. Mortality from livercancer was significantly higher than that of two surrounding control cities combined, with a relative risk of 1.40 (1.04-1.89) based on Poisson regression analysis. Lack of information on possible confounders including diet, alcohol drinking, smoking and hepatitis virus infection, is the main limitation of the study, which precludes the evaluation of causal associations. © 2008 American Institute of Physics. WHAT IS A RESPIRATOR

Full Face Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) with replaceable N100, R100, or P100 filter cartridges (best protection, most expensive, hardest to find). TYPES OF AIR PURIFYING RESPIRATORS: For even better protection with half face or full face respirators, or with full face PAPRs, use combination filters labeled "P100" and "organic vapor." CAN ANYONE USE A RESPIRATOR? Using a respirator makes your lungs and heart work harder. If you have a lung or heart condition, wearing a respirator may be dangerous for you. If a medical condition prevents you from wearing a respirator, you cannot protect yourself against breathing in harmful contaminants in the air. If you have facial hair, you may not be able to wear a respirator. The edge of a respirator must form a tight seal against your skin. If the edge of a respirator rests on facial hair, contaminants can leak into the respirator

Formaldehyde

There are now more than 40 epidemiology studies examining the potential for occupational formaldehyde exposure to cause cancer in humans. The studies include cohort mortality studies of formaldehyde-exposed industrial workers, cohort mortality studies of formaldehyde-exposed professionals or medical specialists, and case-control studies that looked for associations between occupational exposure to formaldehyde and cancers of the nose, pharynx, or lung. Although many different ways to calculate relatively risk of human cancer were used all this studies showed similar results. Conclusions of those studies are: National Toxicology Program (1998): formaldehyde is reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen International Agency of Research for Cancer (1995): "Taken together, the epidemiological studies suggest a causal relationship between exposure to formaldehyde and nasopharyngeal cancer,

Drugs and how they affect your health.

Or how you want a sandwich when you are hungry. Craving for tobacco is much stronger. These changes in the brain and body make nicotine highly addictive. Other addictive drugs of abuse, including heroin and cocaine, cause the same changes in the brain. While inhaling a cigarette, smokers are pulling more than nicotine into their lungs. Tobacco smoke contains more than 4,000 chemicals. Besides nicotine, the most dangerous chemicals in cigarette smoke are tar and carbon monoxide. Tar causes lung cancer, emphysema, and bronchial diseases. Carbon monoxide causes heart problems; smokers are at high risk for heart disease. Smokers also have a dulled sense of smell and taste, reduced stamina for exercise and sports, and they smell of smoke. After smoking for a long time, smokers find that their skin ages faster and their teeth turn brown or discolored Each year, nearly half a million Americans die from tobacco use. One of every six deaths in

Addiction and drugs

This is one of the reasons why using heroin always carries the risk of infection, overdose and death. Also, heroin often has additives that will not dissolve in the bloodstream. This can easily cause a blood clot to form and travel to the lungs, liver, heart or brain, which is instantly fatal. In a short amount of time, regular heroin use destroys the body. Common conditions that plague heroin users include infection of the heart lining and valves, liver disease, lung disease, hepatitis and HIV/AIDS, from needle use. Heroin is also known as: Smack, horse, brown sugar, dope, H, junk, skag, skunk, white horse, China white, Mexican black tar 4. Mushrooms The active chemical in hallucinogenic mushrooms is called psilocybin. This chemical is found in approximately 190 species of edible mushrooms. Hallucinogenic mushrooms have a high potential for abuse. And just like with marijuana, some people think that because they're

The other parks are the neighboring Kensington Gardens, Green Park and St. James's Park. Hyde park covers more than 360 acres (142 hectares) and hosts many large events, including celebrations and concerts. It is also a popular place for jogging, swimming, rowing, picnicking and even horse riding. simple chains. Lymph nodes of larger species are generally more numerous and organized into more complex chains that individually drain proportionately smaller areas of tissue. Significant differences in NK cell biology between mice and man have been identified. Mouse NK cell activity in spleen and blood tends to peak early in life (4/10 weeks of age) while in man, NK cell activity is relatively stable throughout life. Mice have high, whereas man has low, NK cell activity in the lung. Fc receptors are easily detected on human, but markedly less so on mouse NK cells.

(Theognis „Eleegiad“) Mõõtu ei pea inimmeel ega mõtle ta, taotledes rikkust: needki, kes uppumas on rikkuses, ihkavad just kaks korda rohkemat veel! Kuis täita nii kõikide soovi? Just raha ning vara suur põrmlased meeletuks teeb.
