When a world loses a language, it loses a unique treasure There are more than 7000 languages in the world and it is said that more than 50 % of the languages will be extinct by the end of the century. A language dies in every 2 weeks. So what will be lost when a language dies? Much of human knowledge hasn't been written down and it lives in people's memories. In fact, there are even laguages that haven't been written down. In the olden days people use to tell stories. They didn't write them down, just told or sang them to others, who passed them on the same way and so they spread from generation to generation. Now if a language dies, the folklore dies with it. So we will also lose our ancestors knowledge, in what they believed in, what they valued. We will lose the myths and legends, how the world or a certain place was made. In fairytales people learn about virtues, how to make a difference between right and...

both--don't match up with the reality once they get there. They also suffer from lack of motivation, inadequate preparation, and poor study skills. Students who are well prepared for college coursework are more likely to stay in school. Academic help alone is not enough to keep many students in school. Students also need individual support to feel connected to the campus community. When a student drops out of college, everyone loses--the student, the college, and the greater society.
This is a problem that has huge consequences. It means that in the future people may not have enough resources, beacuse right now we are using too much. Secondly, there is a huge amout of waste and pollution. Clean air is our most valuable resource, but it is getting more and more polluted, in the same way as the water. For example, the pollution of water kills hundreds of thousands of birds and water animals. As a result of pollution , there are holes in the ozone layer, which in its turn loses some of its protection. Pollution is also the cause of acid rain, which damages the forests. In conclusion, we cannotonly consider with our needs, we have to think more broadly. In the future our children will need the same resources in the same way as we do. If we do not consider with the others' needs, and increase the overconsumption even more, then we will finally destroy our planet.
Book review I am reading a book called ,,Before I go to sleep" by S.J Watson. This book has 384 pages and I have read 50 of them. The book is about Christine, who loses her memory when she goes to sleep and has to start afresh every time she wakes up. It's quite hard seeing it through her own eyes as each day she wakes up and can't figure out where she is. Everything has to be explained to her by a man who tries to persuade her that he's her husband. She begins to keep a journal, writing down what happens to her each day as recommended by her doctor who calls her each day to remind her of her journal and where it's hidden
which breaks the girl's heart and she commits suicide. Her death touches him only for couple of hours which shows that he has become a heartless person. After this incident Dorian notices that his portrait has changed. He hides it to a room and locks the door. Dorian's morals perish with each next day. He goes to poor and filthy places in London, has very destructive influence on his friends and doesn't value anything. When Basil tries to help him, Dorian loses his temper and kills Basil. After that crime the only thing Dorian thinks of is how to get rid of the body. With sin his portrait becomes more and more hideous. On one evening when he is watching this painting he stabs the portrait with a knife in a moment of madness. The result is that the real Dorian dies and changes into the hideous man from the portrait and the picture restores its original look. This novel is a very good example of the idea that when there's something
remain young and the portrait would become old. The first sign that his wish had become true is seen when Dorian is very heartless and rude to Sibyl Vane, an actress to whom he wanted to marry. When young Dorian discovers that his painting has changed and that his wish had come true, he hides the painting to a room where no one but him has access to. As time goes by, he becomes more infected by the ideas of Henry, but he loses control over his behaviour and his reputation in public decreases. This grows concern in Basil, who has deep feelings for Dorian and Basil tries to put some sense into the boy's mind. After Dorian had killed Basil, the same coldness and indifference, which had been there after Sibyl's suicide, appear again. All the sins that Dorian makes reveal themselves on the portrait. He keeps the door locked, but sometimes goes to see what he really has become. The picture that he sees is so

location. It is the energy that is a part of the whole universe. In consideration of this, every human being has their own soul. This is what makes us all different and unique. Because of this, how can we even question the weight of our lives, when it seems to be completely different for everyone? Well, let's think about the moment of death. It is the exact moment, where our energy leaves our bodies. It has been scientifically proven that at this moment, every human being loses weight - 21 grams on average. Then comes the question that cannot be proven whether this loss is our souls or not. The movie ''21 grams'' brings up a subject that everything we are weights only 21 grams. It is a weight of a chocolate bar, a hummingbird. Still, without these few grams we cannot live without. With these facts, life seems truly inconsequential to me. The first thought, that came into my mind, was whether this is all we are actually worth

circus and describing when people wish to view the starved man. The hunger artist's nourishment is spiritual. The man only wishes to be honored by the public. As he continuously spirals downward in his health, he looses all forms of material nourishment. As the days go on, there is conflict between the artist and the audience, as they do not believe him honest in claiming not to have eaten. By searching for the audience's approval, a symbol for spiritual nourishment, he loses both material and spiritual nourishment. The climax of the story occurs when he finally achieves his final goal which he believes will give him ultimate satisfaction: a fast until death. As Kafka so grotesquely illustrates, the frail and bony man believes he will finally receive the nourishment he wants when he has fasted until death, at which point he has lost all nourishment and dies. The conflict between the audience and the artist adds to the artist's dissatisfaction with his nourishment.

Whether it is his true nature or an outcome of being easily influenced and manipulated with, Dorian cares not for standards of morality or consequences of his actions. He often concentrates on one of his most influential friend and sets his life according to his sayings. This causes Dorian to lose other amigos and important people. Dorian also lacks the knowledge of what is true love. He wants a trophy wife who either looks good or has a great talent. But if the woman loses her gift, Dorian feels like she betrays him. This proves once again the superficiality of Dorian Gray. To sum up Dorian Gray may look good from the outside but is restless and constantly fighting his demons in the inside. He is not worth anyone's affection or jealousy. Basil Hallward Basil is the perfect example of an isolated artist. He has a talent and his paintings are beautiful but as a perfectionist he is eager to point out mistakes. As art is his true passion, Basil puts his
the ground coffee too quickly. An insipid, thin brew lacking in body and flavour will result. Over Extraction occurs when the water is in contact with the ground coffee for too long and too much of the coffee soluble are extracted than is desirable. A harsh tasting bitter brew will result. Freshness Coffee is best enjoyed as soon as it has been brewed. Oxygen in the atmosphere causes the taste to rapidly deteriorate and the beverage loses its aromatic oils and may soon become sour, flat and lifeless. Freshly brewed coffee should be consumed within 30 minutes if left on a hotplate and should never be reheated. The quality of the brewed coffee beverage will depend on several factors, all of which are important to produce the perfect cup of coffee: 1) Grind size of the coffee 2) Quantity of coffee used 3) Water quality 4) Water temperature 5) Contact (infusion) time 6) Type of brewing method used

The party system MPs know that they owe their position in the Parliament to their party so they usually vote as their party tells them to. This is controlled by the Whips (MPs chosen among each others from their parties). They inform the MPs how to vote. There is a tradition that if the government loses a vote in a in Parliament on a big matter they must resign so for the voting day all the MPs have to vote even if they hadn't been there for the debates. The Whips have a great amount advantages since they are act as intemediaries between the FB-s and the BB-s and so they can have an effect on which BB-s get promoted. Sometimes there are free-votes where every MP votes according to his beliefs. Bill Law Before a bill becomes a law it will go through many stages in the Parliament
On the criticism topic I pinted out that IMF and World Bank don’t consider countries inidvidual circumstances setting conditions. Liberalism is all about teamwork/ cooperation. If we look at the Ecuador case, then we can see that they accepted other countries and orgnaizations help from where they did not win but lose. According to liberalism life is a plus- sum game but not in this case, in this case we can see zero-sum game from what one side wins and other loses. In the economic world liberalism is good to one point when it harms others. From trade liberalization the one that wins are usually companies or international organization and from there prehaps some countries that how the things work in a globalized world. Now when few years have past Ecuador has elegantly managed to buy back a very large chunk of its debt at just 35 cents on the dollar. Old Ecuador hand Hans Humes, of Greylock
creates many new opportunities for the country's economy and the society as a whole. Bo Kragh, the vice president of the Bank of Estonia, has a bit different point of view. He has said in his article that the euro takes away our financial independence. Kragh says the Bank of Estonia won't be an independent institution anymore and it will be a branch office of European Central Bank from now on. That won't change much for average persons though, but the state loses the opportunity to manage monetary policy independently. The importance of this concern is probably known to everyone, who is more or less interested in the future of our country and ourselves. Last few years there have been a lot of discussion about euro in newspapers, TV, radio shows et cetera - so there shouldn't be a citizen of Estonia, who doesn't know anything about it. Many of us think that kroon is one of our national symbols and for that reason
Among his works, his reputation rests on his last work, The Divine Comedy. He began writing it somewhere between 1307-1314 and finished it only a short while before his death in 1321, while in exile. In this work, Dante introduces his invention of the terza rima, or three-line stanza as well as himself as a character. The Inferno is the first of three parts of Dante's epic poem, The Divine Comedy, which depicts an imaginary journey through Hell, Purgatory, and Paradise. Dante is the hero, who loses his way in the "dark woods" and journeys to nine regions arranged around the wall of a huge funnel in nine concentric circles representing Hell. He is led by the ghost of Virgil, the Roman poet, who has come to rescue Dante from the dark forest and lead him through the realms of the afterlife. The first circle they enter is Limbo, which consists of heathen and the unbaptized, who led decent lives. The second through the fifth circles are for the lustful, gluttonous, prodigal, and wrathful
Superchargers can spin at speeds as high as 50,000 to 65,000 rotations per minute (RPM). A compressor spinning at 50,000 RPM translates to a boost of about six to nine pounds per square inch (psi). That's six to nine additional psi over the atmospheric pressure at a particular elevation. Atmospheric pressure at sea level is 14.7 psi, so a typical boost from a supercharger places about 50 percent more air into the engine. As the air is compressed, it gets hotter, which means that it loses its density and can not expand as much during the explosion. This means that it can't create as much power when it's ignited by the spark plug. For a supercharger to work at peak efficiency, the compressed air exiting the discharge unit must be cooled before it enters the intake manifold. SUPERCHARGERS There are three types of superchargers: Roots, twin-screw and centrifugal. The main difference is how they move air to the intake manifold of the engine
What are his duties? How had he become rich? A manciple was in charge of getting provisions for a college or court. A reeve was similar to a steward of a manor, and this reeve performs his job shrewdly-- his lord never loses so much as a ram to the other employees, and the vassals under his command are kept in line. However, he steals from his master. The Summoner (est: KOHTUKUBJAS): Describe his looks and personality and his sins. The Summoner brings persons accused of violating Church law to ecclesiastical court. This Summoner is a lecherous man whose face is scarred by leprosy. He gets drunk frequently, is irritable, and is not particularly qualified for his position
At Dallas, in the same day, he wins 100 m stopping chronometers on 10"00, the best time at sea level of ever, and then wins 200 m (20"73) and long jump (8,25)! Then he becomes the national champion at Sacramento in 100 m (beating Sanford and Floyd) and long jump, where with the measure of 8,62 m sets the new the universitary record. Towards the end of the season at Zurich he still has the energies to jump 8,52 m against an opposite wind of 2,2 m/s. Then at Rome, after winning long jump he loses the 100 m thanks to an injury. This was a particular defeat for Carl as trainers told him he couldn't practice sprint and jumping at the same time. So he should have renounced to follow the footprints of Jesse Owens. Carl is stubborn and in 1982 improves in the long jump (8,76 m) and becomes more constant in 100 m. So in 1983 he was ready to do the general attempts for the Olympic games of the following year.

composite, that oblique into which every subject escapes, the trap where all identity is lost, beginning with the very identity of the body that writes. — Probably this has always been the case: once an action is recounted, for intransitive ends, and no longer in order to act directly upon reality — that is, finally external to any function but the very exercise of the symbol — this disjunction occurs, the voice loses its origin, the author enters his own death, writing begins. Nevertheless, the feeling about this phenomenon has been variable; in primitive societies, narrative is never undertaken by a person, but by a mediator, shaman or speaker, whose “perfor- mance” may be admired (that is, his mastery of the narrative code), but not his “ge- nius” The author is a modern figure, produced no doubt by our society insofar as, at
gain access to the house. Following the receipt of a flurry of notes, Lizaveta Ivanovna (Chapter III) agrees to an assignation with Hermann, instructing him to enter the house and await her return, with the Countess, from a ball. This Hermann does, but waits in the Countess's study, rather than going up to Lizaveta's room. After the return of the ladies, Hermann emerges to confront the Countess and demand the secret. Getting no reply, other than "It was a joke", Hermann loses control, calls the Countess an "old witch" and threatens her with a pistol, whereupon she expires. Hermann then goes up to Lizaveta Ivanovna to confess all. Lizaveta is distraught and calls Hermann a "monster" nevertheless, she supplies him with a key to enable him to leave the house unseen (Chapter IV). More from superstition than remorse, Hermann goes to the funeral service for the Countess (Chapter V). When he approaches the coffin, he thinks he sees the dead woman wink "mockingly" at him

Water And Electrolytes Water intoxication is the extreme result of a bodily imbalance between electrolytes (the minerals in your blood and body fluid that carry an electric charge) and water, a condition called "hyponatremia." Chemically speaking, an electrolyte is any substance that ionizes, i.e. gains or loses an electron or electrons, when dissolved in a solvent like water. A classic example is table salt, chemical formula NaCl, which dissociates into a positively charge sodium ions and negatively charged chloride ions when dissolved in water. Water just so happens to be the most versatile solvent there is, a property it owes to the arrangement of its hydrogen and oxygen atoms
ultimately not very different from that of most of the men in the novel. They all want to possess her in ways that she resists. But Cohn's attempts to win Brett are so clumsy and foolish that they provide an easy target for mockery. Cohn adheres to an outdated, prewar value system of honor and romance. He fights only within the confines of the gym until his rage and frustration make him lash out at Romero and Jake. He plays hard at tennis, but if he loses he accepts defeat gracefully. Furthermore, he cannot believe that his affair with Brett has no emotional value. Hence, he acts as a foil for Jake and the other veterans in the novel; unlike them, he holds onto traditional values and beliefs, likely because he never experienced World War I firsthand. Sadly, Cohn's value system has no place in the postwar world, and Cohn cannot sustain it. His tearful

Concerns over nuclear waste accumulation and over the destructive potential of nuclear weapons may counterbalance the desirable qualities of fission as an energy source, and give rise to ongoing political debate over nuclear power. What is radioactive decay? Radioactive decay is the process in which an unstable atomic nucleus loses energy by emitting ionizing particles and radiation. This decay, or loss of energy, results in an atom of one type, called the parent nuclide transforming to an atom of a different type, called the daughter nuclide. For example: a carbon-14 atom (the "parent") emits radiation and transforms to a nitrogen-14 atom (the "daughter"). This is a random process on the atomic level, in that it is impossible to predict when a given atom will decay, but given a large number of

of his life never ended up with the count. Levin and Stiva continue on to argue over Vronsky's place in society, and what, in general, is the aristocracy. The two male characters have extremely dissenting opinions--Stiva speaks positively about the aristocrats while Levin criticizes. The differences between the two widen. Chapters 17-25 Anna realizes she is pregnant with Vronsky's baby, and she informs Vronsky of this. In another climactic event, Vronsky loses a horserace he is slated to win. Vronsky loses the race because he is distracted by his relationship with Anna, especially because his brother and mother very much disapprove of the affair. His mother thinks he is becoming too dangerously preoccupied with a married woman. Further, Vronsky is becoming frustrated at having to hide his life with Anna. With all that on his mind, Vronsky falls off his horse during the race and the horse, Frou Frou, dies:
The flag has proved to have such powerful symbolic value that people have been willing to sacrifice their lives for it. The soldier who dies for his flag, dies for his country; but as a matter of fact, in his own consciousness, it is the flag that has the first place. Whether one isolated standard remains in the hands of the enemy or not does not determine the fate of the country, yet the soldier allows himself to be killed to regain it. He loses sight of the fact that the flag is only a sign, and that it has no value in itself, but only brings to mind the reality that it represents; it is treated as if it were the reality itself. A related and new practice, in which the notions of nationhood and citizenship are sanctified, is the `Citizenship Ceremony' in Britain. Under the Nationality, Immigration and Asylum Act 2002, all new British Citizens are required to attend. The central elements of this ceremony are the
(The actual motivation is always to limit imports.) For instance, a tariff maybe levied in order to bring the price of the imported good up to the level of the domestically produced good. This so-called scientific tariff-- which to an economist is anything but--has the stated goal of equalizing the price and, therefore, "leveling the playing field," between foreign and domestic producers. In this game, the consumer loses. A peril-point tariff is levied in order to save a domestic industry that has deteriorated to the point where its very existence is in peril. An economist would argue that the industry should be allowed to expire. That way, factors of production used by that inefficient industry could move into a new one where they would be better employed. A retaliatory tariff is one that is levied in response to a tariff levied by a trading partner. In the eyes of an
teaching. And when Jesus said, “Deny thyself,” what he meant was : Negate (and thus undo) the illusion of self. If the self – ego – were truly who I am, it would be absurd to “deny” it. What remains is the light of consciousness in which perceptions, experiences, thoughts, and feelings come and go. That is Being, that is the deeper, true I. When I know myself as that, whatever happens in my life is no longer of absolute but only of relative importance. I honor it, but it loses its absolute seriousness, its heaviness. The only thing that ultimately matters is this: Can I sense my essential Beingness, the I Am, in the background of my life at all times? To be more accurate, can I sense the I Am that I Am at this moment? Can I sense my essential identity as consciousness itself? Or am I losing myself in what happens, losing myself in the mind, in the world? ALL STRUCTURES ARE UNSTABLE Whatever form it takes, the unconscious drive behind ego is to

The fear of being unloved and alone is so traumatic for a child that she soon conforms her behavior to do whatever she thinks her parents will approve of. She loses her spontaneity and uniqueness. I have to!” She concludes, “I have to do whatever Mommy and Daddy want me to, or they won’t love me, and I’ll be all alone!” ■ CONDITIONAL LOVE As an adult, a child raised with what is called “conditional love” (as opposed to unconditional love, the greatest gift one person can give
Of each new-hatch'd, unfledged comrade. Beware Of entrance to a quarrel, but being in, Bear't that the opposed may beware of thee. Give every man thy ear, but few thy voice; Take each man's censure, but reserve thy judgment.
