The European Union Law , The EU institutions

adopts its own position and passes it back to Parliament with explanations. At the additional reading, the act is implemented if Parliament accepts the Council's text. Parliament may reject the Council's text, leading to a failure of the law, or they may modify it and pass it back to the Council to continue the process of negotiation. Co-decision procedures and the power of veto held by the European Parliament in the adoption of legislation have made this institution very powerful as the Union’s legislature. Although other bodies have rights of proposition and consultation, these cannot ultimately overrule the Parliament if it decides not to adopt a certain law. [5] Consequently, as the Parliament wields this legislative power and is a directly elected body, the legislation process can be described as democratic. However, the Commission’s role in providing the impetus for law-making may be criticised as

definitions. Depending on the actual compound, drug misuse including alcohol may lead to health and social problems: such as injuries, unprotected sex, violence, deaths, vehicle accidents, homo and suicides and mortality. Drug abuse makes central nervous system effects, which produce changes in mood, levels of awareness or perceptions and sensations. Some drugs appear to be more likely to lead to uncontrolled use than others. Bans Most governments have designed legislation to criminalise certain types of drug use. These drugs are often called "illegal drugs" but generally what is illegal is their unlicensed production, distribution, and possession. These drugs are also called "controlled substances". Even for simple possession, legal punishment can be quite severe. Laws vary across countries, and even within them, and have fluctuated widely throughout history. Despite drug legislation large, organized criminal drug cartels operate world-wide. Advocates

Environtment

The ecological footstep of mankind is getting bigger and bigger by the day. Although everybody seems to acknowledge the problem and also care about the wellbeing and preservation of our planet the situation is only getting worse. Firstly, the ever growing need for energy is taking its toll on the environment. Due to the fast growth of the economical and industrial sector in recent years the need for energy has grown dramatically. Global warming which is responsible for the melting of the ice cap which leads to the rise of sea level is mainly caused by the high use of fossil fuels. Secondly, over-consumption caused by population growth on Earth leads to pollution which is becoming highly dangerous to the environment. The decomposition of materials used nowadays is often hundreds of years long. Unfortunately the number of reusable products is getting smaller by the day. Often the reusable product is also less affordable to the consumer wh...

inmate to escape the full punishment. However proving whether one is guilty or not is a very complicated and time-consuming process. From an ethical perspective, the death penalty is, undoubtedly, a violation of human rights. Most death penalty critics charge that it is particularly barbaric when applied to mentally retarded people and juvenile delinquents. In this case, capital punishment looks like senseless cruelty. A number of states had already passed legislation adopted by the Supreme Court in June 2002 prohibiting such executions to this group of people. As for juvenile delinquents, we should admit their lack of maturity thus they may be less culpable than adults who commit crimes. Ultimately, the death penalty is an utter denial of human rights. It implies that killing is acceptable under certain circumstances. Relatively few developed countries in the world impose the death penalty. Japan and

How has Margaret Thatcher affected Britain

How has Margaret Thatcher affected Britain Margaret Thatcher is former British politician who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1979 to 1990 and leader of the conservative party from 1975 to 1990. She is the first and only woman to hold either post. Since her resignation, Thatcher has remained active in the politics of the United Kingdom, as well as the world. She was raised to the House of Lords by the conferment of a life peerage as Baroness Thatcher. Margaret Thatcher has affected Britain in many ways. Thatcher was committed to reducing the power of the trades unions. Several unions launched strikes in response to legislation introduced to curb their power, but these actions eventually collapsed, and gradually Thatcher's reforms reduced the power and influence of the unions. Also, though an early backer of decriminalization of male homosexuality, Thatcher, at the 1987 Conservative party confere...

Jeremy Bentham

Jeremy Bentham (15. veebruar 1748 6. juuni 1832) Valitsemine on nagu arstiteaduski, seisneb valikute tegemises mitme halva vahel. Iga seadus on halb, sest iga seadus piirab vabadust. 1760. aastal läks ta õppima Oxfordi ja sai seal 1763. aastal bakalaureusee ning 1766.aastal magistrikraadi õigusteaduses. was reluctant to resume a full public life. [7] Victoria's isolation from the public greatly diminished the popularity of the monarchy, and even encouraged the growth of the republican movement. Although she did perform her official duties, she did not actively participate in the government, remaining secluded in her royal residences, Balmoral in Scotland or her residence at Osborne in the Isle of Wight. Meanwhile, one of the most important pieces of legislation of the nineteenth century -- the Reform Act 1867 -- was passed by Parliament. Lord Palmerston was vigorously opposed to electoral reform, but his ministry ended upon his death in 1865. He was followed by Lord Russell (the former Lord John Russell), and afterwards by Lord Derby, during whose ministry the Reform Act was passed. Martin Luther King

King was among the leaders of the so-called "Big Six" civil rights organizations who were instrumental in the organization of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, which took place on August 28, 1963. The march originally was conceived as an event to dramatize the desperate condition of blacks in the southern U.S. The march did, however, make specific demands: an end to racial segregation in public schools; meaningful civil rights legislation, including a law prohibiting racial discrimination in employment; protection of civil rights workers from police brutality; a $2 minimum wage for all workers; and self-government for Washington, D.C., then governed by congressional committee. Despite tensions, the march was a resounding success. More than a quarter of a million people of diverse ethnicities attended the event. King delivered a 17-minute speech, later known as "I Have a Dream".

However, instead of striving to integrate with the local population by learning their language and getting to know their culture, they form their own closed community which do not communicate with the indigenous population. What is more, they keep on following the laws of their native land, often ignoring the legislation of their new homeland. Moreover, it is the part of the population who is not interested in their own roots and who do not excel at work, who tends to emigrate the most. Therefore, the immigrants from the developing countries have become a major problem in many European states. Furthermore, xenophobia has started to spread in the areas as a reaction to the problems caused by the immigrants. Rahvusvahelise õiguse ajalooline areng

2. MILLINE ON OLNUD RAHVUSVAHELISE ÕIGUSE AJALOOLINE ARENG? Rahvusvahelise õiguse arengut saab käsitleda kahes ajastus: klassikalise rahvusvahelise õiguse ajastu, mille periood ulatub Vestfaali rahust kuni Teise Maailmasõja lõpuni ning modernse rahvusvahelise õiguse ajastu alates Teisest maailmasõjast kuni tänapäevani. Ajalooliselt on rahvusvaheline õigus arenenud teatavate etappidena, mis on kaasa toonud mitmeid muudatusi tänapäevasesse rahvusvahelisse areeni. 2.1. Rahvusvahelise õiguse süsteemi alguse tekkeks tänapäevases mõttes ...

The members of a legislature are called legislators; in a democracy, legislators are almost always elected. production technologies vary greatly. Biodiesel is concentrated in Europe and in 2005 France and Germany supplied 69% of the global biodiesel. Bioethanol production is concentrated in two countries: Brazil and the USA and in 2005, they together accounted for 80% of global ethanol production (Msangi et al. 2007; Zuurbier, 2008). While Brazil's biofuels production has grown steadily since the 1980s, then in the USA, the production started to hike in 2003 with the Renewable Fuel Standard legislation. In Europe, biofuels production started to rise in 2005, as depicted on figure 2. Figure 2. World biofuels production ( F.o. Licht's World Ethanol and Biofuels Report, 2006) Figure 3. Global biodiesel production projection (USDA, 2012). Biodiesel is mainly produced in Europe, but production in other countries is expected to increase. This means Princess Charlotte of Cambridge is now fourth in line to the throne, following her grandfather The Prince of Wales, father The Duke of Cambridge and elder brother Prince George of Cambridge. The British Monarchy is known as a constitutional monarchy. This means that, while The Sovereign is Head of State, the ability to make and pass legislation resides with an elected Parliament. Although The Sovereign no longer has a political or executive role, he or she continues to play an important part in the life of the nation. As Head of State, The Monarch undertakes constitutional and representational duties which have developed over one thousand years of history. In addition to these State duties, The Monarch has a less formal role as 'Head of Nation'. The Sovereign acts as a
