Laev telliti 4.veebruaril 2006. Kiil pandi laevale 19.juunil 2007. 2008. aasta mais korraldati laevale nime saamiseks konkurss. Vettelaskmistseremoonia toimus 21. novembril 2008. 28. oktoobril 2009 sai laev valmis ja anti omanikele üle. 30. oktoobril lahkus ta Soomest USA -sse, kuhu ta saabus 13. novembril. Laev ristiti 30. novembril 2009 ning ristipere liikmeks said Gloria Estefan (ka laeva ,,Empress Of The Seas" ristiema), Michelle Kwan, Jane Seymour, Dara Torres, Keisha Knight Pulliam, Shawn Johnson ja Daisy Fuentes. Laev asus esmareisile 5. detsembril 2009. 1.novembril 2009 sõitis laev Suur-Belti silla alt läbi. Sild ulatub veepinnast 65 m kõrgusele, laev seevastu 72 m kõrgusele. Laeva korstnad on teleskooptorudega, et neid vajadusel lühemaks teha saaks. Lisaks kasutas laev niinimetatud kükitamisefekti: suure kiirusega madalas kanalis sõitva laeva süvis on pisut suurem. Selle arvel võitis laev veel 3 dm, milleta poleks silla alt läbisõit ohutu olnud.
