See plaat positsioneerub stiililiselt kuskile modernjazzi ja nu-soul'i vahepeale. McFarlane'i mahe vokaal paneb tõmbama paralleele niivõrd erinevate artistidega nagu Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, kuid miks mitte ka Cassandra Wilson, Dianne Reeves... ja koguni Jose James, kes samuti on kuulunud Brownswoodi artistide hulka. McFarlane on piisavalt mitmekülgne, et tunda end ühtmoodi vabalt vägagi erinevates
I trained my dog not to beg at the table. How did you do that? I let him taste my cooking. What's in an astronaut's favorite sandwich? Launch meat. What do cats call mice on skateboards? "Meals on Wheels." Why do you eat so fast? I want to eat as much as possible before losing my appetite. What did the mayonnaise say to the refrigerator? Close the door, I'm dressing! What did the left eye say to the right eye? Between us, something smells. Jack: Would you like some Egyptian Pie? Jill: What's Egyptian pie? Jack: You know, the kind mummy used to make. The customer asked: "Do you serve crabs here?" "Yessir," repplied the waiter. "We'll serve just about anybody." What starts with "t" ends with "t" and is filled with "t"? A teapot. Why did the man eat at the bank? He wanted to eat rich food. What does the richest person in the world make for dinner every night? Reservations. Why don't chickens play sports? Because they hit fowl balls. What has ears but can't hear a thing?

He knew he didn't have anything in his caravan to break the window. ,,We've had a lot of great moments together," he thought. At first he couldn't see anything in the darkness but after some time his eyes got used to it and he found a spade under the table. Suddnely he felt something moving around his leg. He thought it was his dog, who had been sleeping in the caravan, but then he understood that ot was ?something? more frightening

1 State verbs describe a continuing state, so do not usually have a continuous form. Typical examples are: believe, belong, consist, contain, doubt, fit, have, know, like, love, matter, mean, own, prefer, understand, seem, suppose, suspect, want, wish 2 Some verbs have a stative meaning and a different active meaning. Typical examples are: be, depend, feel, have, measure, see, taste, think, weigh Compare these uses: State Event Jack is noisy. Jill is being noisy. Deirdre has a Porsche. We are having an interesting conversation! I think I like you! David is thinking about getting a new job. This fish tastes awful! I am just tasting the soup. I feel that you are wrong. The differences in the meaning apply to all tenses, not just to present tenses.
In the weedy, overgrown garden In = preposition; the, weedy, overgrown = modifiers; garden = noun. A prepositional phrase will function as an adjective or adverb. As an adjective, the prepositional phrase will answer the question Which one? pronouns A pronoun (I, me, he, she, herself, you, it, that, they, each, few, many, who, whoever, whose, someone, everybody, etc.) is a word that takes the place of a noun. In the sentence Joe saw Jill, and he waved at her, the pronouns heand her take the place of Joe and Jill, respectively. There are three types of pronouns: subject (for example, he); object (him); or possessive (his). Rule 1. Subject pronouns are used when the pronoun is the subject of the sentence. You can remember subject pronouns easily by filling in the blank subject space for a simple sentence. Example: ___ did the job. I, he, she, we, they, who, whoever, etc., all qualify and are, therefore, subject pronouns. Rule 2
I was born... Me ütleme I was born..., mitte I am born: I was born in Chicago. (minevik) Where were you born? (minevik) How many babies are born every day? (olevik) Get Passiivis võid kasutada sõna be asemel sõna get: There was a fight at the party, but nobody got hurt. (=nobody was hurt) I'm surprised Liz didn't get offered the job. (=Liz wasn't offered the job) Sõna get saab kasutada ainult siis, kui midagi toimub. Näiteks ei saa kasutada sõna get järgnevates lausetes: Jill is liked by everybody. (Mitte gets liked see ei ole sündmus) He was a mystery man. Very little was known about him. (Mitte got known) Sõna get kasutatakse tavaliselt mitteametlikus kõnekeeles. Sõna be saab kasutada kõikides situatsioonides. Sõna get kasutatakse ka järgnevates väljendites, mis ei ole tähenduselt passiivis: get married/ divorced; get dressed (=put on your clothes), get lost, get changed (=change your clothes). It is said that... He is said to... He is supposed to..

glance and helping to midwife it into existence. From negotiation to nonstop jazz, you amaze me. Heather Jackson, your insightful editing and incredible cheerleading has made this book a pleasure to write. Thank you for believing in me! To the entire Crown Publishing team, especially those whom I bother (because I love them) more than four hours a week, you are the backbone of this book: Tina Constable, Maya Mavjee, Michael Palgon, Linda Kaplan, Karin Schulze, Jacqueline Lebow, Jill Flaxman, Meredith McGinnis, Jill Browning, Mary Choteborsky, Robert Siek, Elizabeth Rend eisch, Tara Agroskin, and Jennifer Reyes. This book was also rst drafted using Scrivener, a gorgeous application, and Keith Blount kept me sane as I tested the limits of the software. I owe particular gratitude to Charlie Hoehn and Alexandra Carmichael. Where to begin? Charlie, you were a co-creator and co-conspirator from the very earliest stages. I can only hope that the end product makes you proud
