Japanese festivals

Some festivals have their roots in Chinese festivals but have undergone dramatic changes as they mixed with local customs. Some are so different that they do not even remotely resemble the original festival despite sharing the same name and date. There are also various local festivals (e.g. Tobata Gion) that are mostly unknown outside a given prefecture. It is commonly said that you will always find a festival somewhere in Japan. Matsuri is the Japanese word for a festival or holiday. In Japan, festivals are usually sponsored by a local shrine or temple, though they can be secular. There is no specific matsuri days for all of Japan; dates vary from area to area, and even within a specific area, but festival days do tend to cluster around traditional holidays such as Setsubun or Obon. Almost every locale has at least one matsuri in late summer/early autumn, usually related to the rice harvest.

It contributes to the expression of nature and symbolizes renewal, calm, wonder and continuity in the hereafter. Stones. They are laid out in accordance with strict rules, depending on their shapes and sizes; they often are twinned by pairs. The type of stone to use is one of the most important element, in the design of a Japanese garden. Lantern. Originally intended to guide the visitors during nocturnal celebrations, its light was also considered as the light of knowledge clearing away the clouds of ignorance. Almond Blossoms by Vincent Van Gogh

Almond trees flower early in the spring making them a symbol of new life. They represented awakening and hope. He enjoyed them aesthetically and found joy in painting flowering trees. The blossoms of the apricot, peach and plum trees motivated him, and within a month he had created fourteen paintings of blossoming fruit trees. Excited by the subject matter, van Gogh completed nearly one painting a day.The works reflect the influence of Impressionism, Divisionism, and Japanese woodcuts. Van Gogh borrowed the subject, the bold outlines and the positioning of the tree in the picture plane from Japanese printmaking. Vincent was a fan of Japanese art especially of the woodblock print genre Ukiyo-e and influence of Ukiyo-e can be seen in this famous work which was held in high esteem by the artist. Because he suffered from psychotic episodes and delusions and though he worried about his mental stability, he often neglected his physical

The Great Wave off Kanagawa

The Great Wave off Kanagawa The Great Wave off Kanagawa , also known as The Great Wave or simply The Wave, is a woodblock print by theJapanese artist Hokusai. An example of ukiyo-e art, it was published sometime between 1830 and 1833[1] (during the Edo Period) as the first in Hokusai's series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji(Fugaku sanjrokkei (?)), and is his most famous work. This particular woodblock is one of the most recognized works of Japanese art in the world. It depicts an enormous wavethreatening boats near the Japanese prefecture of Kanagawa. While sometimes assumed to be a tsunami, the wave is, as the picture's title notes, more likely to be a large okinami literally "wave of the open sea." As in all the prints in the series, it depicts the area around Mount Fuji under particular conditions, and the mountain itself appears in the background. COPIES

Memoirs of a Geisha

It explained the thought of a geisha: why have many misused the word geisha, and misunderstood the reality. The book itself is about a girl, who was sold to a family by her own father. She worked there as a maid, but as time went by she grew up and a famous and loved geisha decided to train her to become a geisha too. She worked hard, but succeeded well - she was one of the most valued geishas. The book takes us to a tour where any detail of a great and merry Japanese village cannot be left out, where every little flower or Japanese cherry tree is blossomed, where geishas are highly valued and respected, until the World War I begins. People are taken away and they have escaped to country-sides or places where the war wouldn't be that effecting. A really bad time is about to begin. Few years later comes an old friend of that geisha to her and says that she should dress up for the last time as a real geisha, and show german what are japans really like

Setsubun

Setsubun Setsubun ("seasonal division") Is a fesitival in Japan celebrating the beginning of spring. It's held on 3 or 4 of February which isone day before the beginning of spring according to Japanese lunar calendar. This day was to chase away the evil spirits from the winter. This holiday is not very popular anymore although some people still decorate their houses with holy tree leaves and fish heads. In the 13th century it was a popular custom, people belived that the smell of burning trees and the sound of drums would scare the spirits away. Nowadays it's more common to throw rosted beans into houses, temples an shrines. Ou are supposed to shout ,,Oni wa soto! Fuku wa uchi!" while throwing the beans which means ,,Devils out! Happiness in!". Then you should pick up the number of peas as old you are and eat them.

Presenting arguments

There're two points here. Firstly, the cost to the environment. Think of all the rain forests. Secondly, the advertiser may pay, but the costs are passed on to the consumer. There are two problems here. Some of these homes are a long way from bus routes. Moreover, bus services can disappear altogether when the tourist season comes to an end. .... the economic strength of Japan hasn't led to much teaching of Japanese. You also have to consider the vast size of the knowledge base available to English speakers - academic research, scientific reports and an infinite number of books and periodicals. Also, the very act of hosting the World Cup or the Olympics gives a great boost to tourism.... Again, that depends on the alternatives. I prefer the comprehensive system, but I wouldn't want my child to be in mixed ability classes for all subjects.

Ta ei kaotanud ära aia suhet loodusega ning siiski võttis kujundamist kui miniatuurse maastiku taasloomist. Kuna maastikke iseloom oli ajaga muutunud, oli ainult loogiline, et muutuma peaks ka aed. „International Ecomomics“ by Hendrik Van den Berg

Irland-s standing high is due, in part, to its rapid integration into the European Union wich greatly expended its International trade and investment flows. Everybody dosnt like globalization. They fear it. Because it causes change and change can cause Hardship. U.S Domestic production consumed at home 82% and Exports 18%. A chapter about the open economy, there I found out whats happening in tuna Fish . It means fresh and good tuna, costs a lot! Mostly becouse of sushi lovers and Japanese market demanding.First tuna will go to Japanese Tokyo and from there goes all around the world.Exports and Imports - an open economy differs from the closed economy because consumers and investors will find it advantageous to import some goods from foreign producers. There are many ohter International payments in addition to those related to exports and imports of goods and services. For example, transfers occur across bordersas well as within economies.

Air pollution in Japan

warming, heart problems, acid rains etc. There are solutions like public transport, cleaning smokestacks, laws, renewable sources, The history Industrial activity in Japan devoloped rapidly after the World War II. People became really sick and described it as more horrible suffering than death. In the 1970s Japan managed to clean up without sacrificing growth by investing in pollution-control technologies. They made new laws. It was the start of "Japan's Pollution Diet". Today, Japanese cities are among the world's least polluted, according to the World Health Organization. Air pollution in Japan The air pollution is different in different seasons. During the winter air pollution in Japan is particularly bad since the polluted air comes not only from industrial and vehicle emissions within Japan, but also from polluted air masses that are derived from China. Jaapani viski

Jaapani viski Ajalugu Tootmine algas umbes aastal 1870. Kaubanduslikult hakati tootma 1924 (peale riigi esimese piiritustehase avamist). Kaks kõige mõjukamat tegelast Jaapani viski ajaloos Shinjiro Torii ja Masataka Taketsuru. Shinjiro Torii Torii oli Kotobukiya asutaja (Suntory). AkadamaPort Wine tegi temast eduka kaupmehe. Otsustas ehitada esimese Jaapani viski piiritustehase Yamazakisse. Maailma parim viski Jaapani viski tunnustati maailma...

London the new Babel

Many immigrants get beaten up or bullied because of their religion or ethnic origin. Some get killed and commit suicide because of the bulling. I think that a person who persecutes somebody because of who he or she is isn't a smart one. It is important to respect other cultures and not to judge someone just because he or she is different from you. There are also people who don't mean to be impolite but tend to be because of their lack of knowledge. For example it is easy to mix up Japanese and Chinese. At the same time a simple mistake like this may hurt another person's feelings. Also when a person comes from a different society where different names for coloured people have different values. For example if one comes from Estonia where calling dark skinned people "black" could also be interpreted as they were filthy then he or she could easily offend someone by calling them "negro". In another language it is the polite way but in London it isn't
