Efficient initiatives to help protect the environment

Efficient initiatives to help protect the environment Just like our bodies, the environment functions best when it's in balance. Unfortunately, we're not quite there. Many of us believe that we lead lives that respect nature but our consumption habits give us away. Many little habits that seem to be sustainable are in fact polluting. Along with pollution, issues like depletion of resources, the rise of consumerism, and the "throw away" culture have led to serious issues. That being said, the fight's not over yet. Fortunately, more people than ever are both aware of and active in the protection of the environment. To protect the environment, waste management and recycling are crucial. When we recycle, used materials are converted into new products, reducing the need to consume natural resources. If used materials are not recycled, new products are made by extracting fresh, raw material from the Earth, through mining and forestry. R...

Employees could also earn extra pay trough a personal supplement, payable for an individual´s contribution to group results. One of the most outstanding BMW manufacturing facility is the Cowley plant. Unions in that plant won the CIPD People Management Award because of their high performance and very good teamwork. HRM had two high-profile initiatives like establishing self-directed work groups and using an employee suggestion scheme in which individual bonus payments are given in return for cost savings and production improvement suggestions. Here is some statistics how these initiatives worked: · in 2002, production targets were exceeded by more than 60 per cent; · the programme of continuous process improvement saved £10.5 million in two years 2002- 2003;

What is integrated care?

Concern about fragmentation typically focuses on a lack of service coordination for individual patients and, particularly, the structural and cultural isolation of generalist from specialist medicine, or adult social care from health care, which often results in patients experiencing discontinuity of care when they are transferred from home to hospital, or vice versa. Table 1: Trends in integration initiatives 1980s 1990s 2000s · coordinated working · inter-agency working · inter-professional working · shared planning · intermediate care · whole systems working · coordinated care · shared protocols · integrated delivery · care programmes · managed care networks

Fair Trade Tourism

The Masais are selling souvenirs, charging for pictures and performing their sacred dances for tourists to get living. These things show that the destruction is not just a superficial consenquence of tourism, but is often an indication of much more deep-rooted cultural changes. But a quiet cultural revolution is happening. Communities are standing up and asking for something different. Over the last decade there has been a rapid growth in local ,,alternative tourism" initiatives. This means that buildings are built by locals with sustainable local materials, food is bought from local farmers and a limit on development has been set so that local communities aren't being overrun and the the destination isn't overly dependent on tourism.

progress. The ONR Diversity Committee is an important tool for ONR in its work to increase diversity, and the current committee is to be commended for its solid recommendations. This committee believes that the ONR Diversity Committee should be strengthened and given a position of greater prominence. The Committee has identified many useful ways to increase the representation of target groups. Included among them are new initiatives in four areas: diversity training, rotational assignments, mentoring, and recruitment and relocation bonuses. Diversity training is helpful to ensure that common skills and knowledge are shared throughout the organization. This plan suggests that departmental displays highlight principal investigators, their research, and pictures of diverse participants. This can be an excellent forum to demonstrate the contribution of scientists and engineers in the target groups

therefore considered to be a medium-size barrier in Table I. HOW TO OVERCOME BARRIERS This paper focuses barriers and omits more positive circumstances for district heating. It may be depressing but the message is not that district heating has no prospects. The report should rather be understood as a realistic guide to DH development in the studied countries. To have a chance to overcome the outlined barriers to any significant extent, powerful initiatives are required from countries with established district-heating industries, such as Sweden. Initiatives should comprise many different players, for example, district-heating companies, equipment manufacturers, consultants and governmental bodies. Such consortia could offer district-heating systems from fuel supply, via heat production plants and DH networks to customer contracts. Now, many foreign groups visit municipal district-heating systems in

sustainability strategy for decreasing costs and improving profitability, and thereby gaining cost leadership.  Costs and Risks - Cost analysis can be greatly enhanced by a holistic approach to assessing risks and uncertainties. In some industry sectors, key risks and uncertainties have strong links to environmental and social concerns.  Product Differentiation - Sustainability initiatives and strategies also provide opportunities for product differentiation—a key component of competitive advantage. Many leading companies are repositioning their products as services as part of their attempt to reduce their environmental or social impacts. The environmental and social performance of companies can also have significant affect on intangible assets such as brand image and consumer goodwill, which are

Public Administration and Innovation

independent development is almost impossible. (Marlow, 2015) •In the past the state has made efforts to make chaebols more efficient by forcefully restructuring them. By now it is clear that this will not be enough. The state has realised that it needs to limit the economy’s dependence on large companies. Also, in order to stay competitive, there needs to be a general shift away from hardware and towards services. (Mundy, 2014) •There have been government initiatives launched to foster the start-up model of business, especially when it comes to funding (the largest financing mechanism is Growth Ladder Fund, with about $2.7bn in assets), but generally the regulatory and business environment is still considered too rigid, conservative and geared towards large conglomerates to bring about any substantial change. António de Oliveira Salazar in 1933. Portugal was one of only five European countries to remain neutral in World War II. From the 1940s to the 1960s, Portugal was a founding member of NATO, OECD and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA). Gradually, new economic development projects and relocation of mainland Portuguese citizens into the overseas provinces in Africa were initiated, with Angola and Mozambique, as the largest and richest overseas territories, being the main targets of those initiatives. These actions were used to affirm Portugal's status as a pluricontinental nation and not as a colonial empire. After India attained independence in 1947, pro-Indian residents of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, with the support of the Indian government and the help of pro-independence organisations, invaded the territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli from Portuguese rule in 1954. In 1961, São João Baptista de Ajudá's annexation by the Republic of Dahomey was the start of a

The purpose of this work is not to define any particular workflow, to describe how these two can be simultaneously used or provide a new model of how these two independent concepts could be integrated, but rather to provide an introduction to existing forms and studies. 5.1 Theoretical work of integrating Lean Construction and Building Information Modelling LC and BIM are different initiatives, but both have proven to have a profound impact on the construction processes. "The Interaction of Lean and Building Information Modelling in Construction" compiled by Sacks, Koskela, Dave and Owen (2009) is a thorough, theoretical and practical literature review of the understanding of the synergies between LC and BIM. Kuidas muudab mudelprojekteerimine teraskonstruktsioonide valmistamist ja ehitamist

Aarhus School of Architecture is focusing on product configuration, design intent and IFC model servers whereas the Technical University of Denmark is working on interoperability (Wong, Wong & Nadeem, 2009). From the practices of Finland, Denmark and Norway it is evident that the implementation of BIM starts with a public organization taking the lead and drafting BIM guidelines. At the same time, strong support of the private sector is also required in the form of university programs and R&D initiatives by top AEC companies. Finland, Denmark and Norway realized the benefits of virtual design and construction tools around 2007, whereas the first BIM guideline in Estonia was drafted almost 3 years later in 2009. At the same time this might not be such a bad course of events for Estonia. We now have an excellent opportunity to learn form the mistakes and successes from other countries and adopt the best practices. If Estonian architecture, engineering and construction companies
