Big Ben When most people heat the words "Big Ben" they immediately conjure up an image of the striking Victorian Gothic structure of the clock tower of the Palace of Westminster (the Houses of Parliament). Let's clear up a common misconception first; technically speaking, the name "Big Ben" does not refer to the famous tower, nor to the four huge clock faces of this London landmark; instead, it refers to the largest of the five bells inside the clock tower, whose chimes are such a familiar sound to listeners to BBC radio over the years. The tower was begun following the disastrous fire which destroyed the old Palace of Westminster in 1834. Charles Barry was given the contract to rebuild the Palace, and his designs included a clock tower. ...

How people use them, what kind of information we give away, what companies will do with this. Information sharing and data protection has become very popular theme in the recent few years. People care more about their privacy and avoid „big brother“ foreshadowing. It is important to know what social media platforms promise and are they really going to keep it. Users should think about what they share and what kind of information they generate. Because it is all recorded and some info can be traced back to real people. Privacy and data

causes people to spend less time interacting face to face. I think it’s not good because if they are always in social media talking with friends then people can’t interact with people outside the internet. If the people are not used to speaking in real life then it could be difficult to impress yourself with words to other people and because of this it could be difficult finding a job. Social networking sites help students do better at school. It helps students browse quickly the information they need and not waste time on searching from millions of books. It helps students do homework faster and then they can have free time to do hobbies. It could also provide distance learning due to sickness or travelling. But in the other hand it’s bad because the internet enables the spread of unreliable and false information. Also people don’t read as much books if they get all the information from the internet. If students prefer internet to
Lady's slipper Common names: American Valerian, Moccasin Flower, Nerveroot, Whippoorwill's-shoe and Yellow Indian Shoe. Bionominal name- Cypripedium pubescens. - to introduce new products; - increase a sales pitch. Now move on to the problems typical in international meetings.A classic mistake is that meeting`s material arrives after one meeting ended, ignorance of the cultural characteristics of the participants, inattention in relation to the physicalcondition of guests which came from far away. In conclusion I would like to say few words about the pitfalls that take place in international meetings, such as sharing personal information, which is common in North America is not appropriate in Europe or Asia. Lack of information about the participants can led to unfortunate results. For example, serving pork to Moslems.I suppose that diligence helps to make a success in any kind of work.
05144023 Compare and contrast the `direct` perception theory of Gibson with the `constructivist` perception theory of Gregory. Which provides a better account of human perception? Sensation involves physical stimulation of the sense organs, while perception is the organisation and interpretation of incoming sensory information. The Gestalt theorists first identified many of the principles that dominate in human visual perception. As Dowell (1995) has observed: "To perceive seems effortless. To understand perception is nevertheless a great challenge" (cited in Gross, 2005, pp 244). This essay will look at Gregory's theory and Gibson's theory of visual perception whether one or the other offers a better explanation of human visual perception.

Summary I made my presentation about infotechnology usage in motorsport. I chose this topic because I am an infotechnology student and also I have been rally driver since 2009. I believed this could be interesting topic for others to hear because you can’t really find much information about the technologies used in different motorsport disciplines from the Internet but you can learn about them usually when somebody tells you about those technologies. Because I’m a rally driver and I know most about rallying I focused on rally and in addition talked little bit about Formula One and also about simulators. Most of the information I used to make this presentation was based on my personal experience. In addition, I found some

Summary UNDERSTANDING PSYCHOLOGY Fourth Edition Robert S. Feldman CHAPTER 7. MEMORY p. 218 – 230 KELA-I University of Tartu Narva College 2014 Encoding, Storage, and Retrieval of Memory. Encoding refers to the process by which information is initially recorded in a form usable to memory. Memory specialists speak of storage, the maintenance of material saved in the memory system. If the material is not stored adequately, it can not be recalled later. Memory also depends on one last process: retrieval. In retrieval, material in memory storage is located, brought into awareness, and utilized. In sum, psychologists consider memory as the process by which we encode, store, and retrieve information

Nowadays Almost every person on Earth has access to the Internet. Internet is becoming a basic human right and use of the computers is expanding more and more, hence the usage of internet. Internet also has a great value for schools, because learning by using the Internet has many advantages on other ways of learning. But what makes Internet so good to be used for learning? Internet is constantly evolving, making it the most reliable and up-to-date source of information. Books are getting older and the information is expiring, but the Internet is evolving with time. In the Internet, expired information is replaced with new. It is easier to find what you need to learn. For example, using books or other data carriers on paper, you are forced just to read, read and read. Using the Internet, you can find whatever you need to learn in just a matter of seconds just by searching through the net.

following the telegraph, telephone, radio, and television. The humanity of today wouldn't imagine the life without the internet anymore. Internet is now dominating in the communication between republics too. The evidence suggests that the Internet has blended into the rhythms of everyday life: the Internet is used at work, in schools, in universities, and hospitals etc. It is used for a wide variety of purposes, such as surfing for information, working, playing online games, and just chatting. The fact that people are not interacting in visible public spaces does not mean that they are in isolation. It is just sometimes quicker and easier way to find needed information and for some people who simply don't have time to meet and have a chat in a cafe or somewhere it might be the only way to chat. On the other hand the situation where the Internet would permanently disappear would create a
The advantage of this is that more people can be informed and therefore involved in the happenings of the day. But like any other facet of life these wonders can be corrupted by those with their own agenda. That is to say that a news agency can choose to omit some things from their broadcast to place a particular "spin" on the events. Using 9-11 as an example: Everyone saw the planes crash into the buildings but none REALLY knows why this happened. Same with the assignation of JFK. Information can be repressed or expounded to create misinformation that leaves us all wondering why. Mass Media refers to all forms of media that are open to and accessible by the public. This includes newspapers, television, internet, magazines, radio etc. Following are the advantages and disadvantages of mass media to the society: Advantages: - Information - News - Entertainment - Communication ( specifically for internet) - Product reviews Disadvantages - Can lead to wrong perceptions - unrest

The everincreasing use of technology in our daily lives is not always a good thing Technology plays an increasingly important part in our daily lives. While many technological developments may be beneficial in the field of medicine, for instance there are many others whose effects are less positive. We may find examples of these in the world of work, in the area of information technology and in the home. In the world of work, technological advances have had various negative effects. The development of robotics has meant that in industries such as carmanufacturing robots are replacing people. They work faster and more accurately and they do not need breaks. As a result, industrial workers see job opportunities dwindling further and unemployment levels rising. Furthermore, rapid advances in information technology mean that fewer
