Järvakandi. In previous years the festival has been purely a rock festival, but this year sees it cater for more varied tastes. The lineup still features plenty for hard rock fans like Scandinavian acts Truckfighters, Los Bastardos Finlandeses and Kotiteollisuus. Electric Eel Shock, Black Lips and Danko Jones also rock pretty hard, while Vaiko Eplik & Eliit are an experimental local outfit. Krautrockinfluenced British band Fujiya & Miyagi offer a more spacey sound HOLIDAYS People's cultural activities are mostly based upon ancient traditions. The costums of the Estonians are those of the countryfolk, because rites usually sprang up in rular communities. Summer holidays are too long

Summer holidays are too long Summer holidays are important. Children need enough time to rest from school hard work. They have to have time to do all the things they like. Children aren't the only ones who need all this, teachers need it too. Children need long holidays. In summer they can go on vacation with their families and visit all the interesting places. Some kids like water parks and amusement parks, some are interested in museums. They can also visit relatives. Every child wants to play and spend time with friends outside of school, also develop their hobbies. If summer holidays were shorter, they wouldn't have time to do all this. School is hard work. Learning new things all day, and after school there is homework to do

Two holidays in the UK

Two holidays in the UK In the UK are many holidays, some are weird, some aren't. I describe two holidays, which I think are quite interesting. Bank holidays are public holidays in the United Kingdom, when banks and many other businesses are closed for the day. One bank holiday is Stiltion Cheese Rolling. Cheese Rolling has become an annual event in Stilton and every May Day hundreds of villagers and visitors make their way to the main street to watch the teams battling for the honour of being called the 'Stilton Cheese Rolling Champions'. The event is also Stilton village festival, and includes Maypole dancing, live music and other entertainment

Complain letter

Dear Madam or Sir I am writing to express my strong dissatisfaction with the service of your company. My complaints concern holidays on Tenerife. To start with, your travel agent assured me that I would stay in a luxurious hotel situated not far from the Golden Beach. I was also promised a spacious room with a terrace and windows overlooking the ocean. However, the hotel turned out to be small and old and it was situated close to a very busy street, furthermore, very far from the ocean. It took 40 minutes to walk to the beach. Moreover, there was a balcony instead of a terrace in my room

Volunteer work

Dear Ms Peck, I saw your advertisement about volunteering work. I would like to join in and work with children. My name is Mari Mets and I am 18 years old. I speak Hungarian, English and Russian. I have a driving licence. Despite being 18 years old, I have organised holidays for youngsters before (2001 – Hungary; 2002 – Romania). In addition to that I have taken a course in child psychology (October – January 2000). Also, I really like children, I help with neighbour children on a regular basis. I could help with accommodation, organise games and activities, teach children various skills such as pottery, offer some help with general problems. I have some questions about the volunteer work. Where will the children be from? How long will the holidays be

Estonians and their habits

Estonians and their habits There are hundreds of different countries and nationalities in the world and each one is peculiar in its own way. For example, Italians are very impulsive. French people don't like the British. Germans are pedantic. Russians are generous, but lazy. What about Estonians? In Estonia when a stranger on a street smiles at you, you can assume that: he is either drunk, insane, from another country or all of the above. Estonians don't smile too often. Estonians are not very talkative either. In Estonian schools teachers have stopped asking their students "Are there any questions?" It is especially hard to keep a conversation flowing with an Estonian when you don't know each other very well. I tried to make a conversation with an Estonian classmate of mine once (whom I didn't know very well) and it sounded like that: Me: So... what did you do during your holidays? ...

tourists residing in the hotel. This may imply that the most business people staying in the hotel are men. The women occupancy seems to peak at three points: April, October and December. The latter is probably due to couples and families (influx of people aged under 20 is in December and October too) going on vacation for Christmas, New Year's Eve and other seasonal holidays. The length of the stay is the shortest in December, which may serve as further proof for the above theory of families coming in for the winter holidays. The average length of stay also tends to drop significantly as tourists gain in occupancy percentage, which may indicate that the location of the hotel is not very favourable to tourism business as the area can probably be explored quickly.

Christmas and Easter

Dear Tom, It was nice to hear from you and you asked me to write about religious holidays that are celebrated in my country. I will talk about Easter and Christmas celebrations. Easter is a moveable feast, meaning it is not fixed in relation to the civil calendar. The date of Easter therefore varies between March 22 and April 25. Originally only Christians celebrated Easter. According to Christians, Jesus was resurrected from the dead that day. Newer elements such as the Easter Bunny and Easter egg have become part of the holiday's modern celebrations, and those aspects are often celebrated by many Christians and non-Christians alike. There are also some Christian denominations who do not celebrate Easter. Other religious holiday is Christmas. It's one of the most popular festivals of Christian community celebrated all over the world. According to Christians it's the day when Jesus was born. Christmas is held on December 25 in mo...

The Estonian Education System

The current Estonian education system consists of pre-school education, basic education, general secondary education, vocational education and higher education. Basic education is the compulsory education minimum, whics is provided by basic schools. Estonian law requires all children to be in full-time education from age of seven. concert and in the evening they exchange gifts to each other and spend rest of the evening with their most important people. 3. Estonians have simple and very traditional food : potatoes, sauce, black pudding, roast pork and also sober cabbage is a traditional food. 4. My favorite winter sports is skiing. I prefer it to others, because the other winter sports don´t attract me. I think this is the most classic and most spread winter sports. 5. I usually spend my winter holidays at home. I spend them with resting from school and also making sports. For example, if there is snow, i go skiing every day. 6. I enjoy mild winter. It is so, because I´m a bit afraid of cold and i don´t like it very much. If winter is cold, i don ´t have motivation to go outside and spend time there. 7. If i could move where ever i want, i probably will move to Spain. It´s quite warm there during the whole year, and it´s also very delightful place, where to live.

On the other hand, tourism can be really destructive for the environment. Nowadays people want to be everywhere in the African jungle or in the depth of the sea. In this way they are interfering in the natural course of the wilderness There is another danger. If we set off to the country in which there are common exotic diseases without inoculation, we can expose ourselves not only to wasted holidays, but even to death. My room

My room I live in a comfortable city flat in a 9-stored block of flats not far from the centre of Tallinn. It is not a very green place, but still there are many trees around the house and in summer the yard looks very beautiful and cozy. The house is located comfortably because there a few supermarkets, pharmacies around. My flat is on the first floor. It's very comfortable and well-planned. There are three rooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and a balcony. The largest room in our flat is the living room and me and my husband room too. My family uses it as a sitting room. On the left there is my bed and desk. The desk has a lot of drawers where I keep my text-books, notes, pens, pencils and other necessary things. On the right there is a sofa and a built-in wardrobe. In the right corner there is a comfortable arm-chair. Beside it stands a lamp with blue shade. I like to turn on the lamp, sit in the arm-chair and read an interesting book. Ther...

My future plans

My Future Plans. Well, here it is. I am not a person who likes to speak about his future plans a lot. I will try to tell in the shortest way about the exact things. The 9th form finishes and I am happy and sad at the same time. I think I will miss my classmates and some of the teachers from this school but I understand that from that point starts a new period of my life. After the 9th form I am going to study further but where exactly, I can't say now. I am thinking about what to choose. In my opinion the most perfect choice for me would be studying abroad. I know it will be very useful and interesting experience for me. My dream is to visit Tallinn like a guest. But may be when I leave my town I will value it more than I did before. And could be that it is just popular today: dreaming about leaving your hometown and studying abroad. For today my plans are to study till 12th form and then enter the university. In future I will also impr...
