What is acid rain?
• Acid rain is a rain or any other form
of precipitation(sademed) that is
unusually acidic, meaning that it has
elevated levels of hydrogen ions
(low pH).
What is it caused by?
Wet deposition- niisked sademed
Consequences of acid
rains
• forests, freshwaters(mageveekogud)
and soils
• Kills insect and aquatic life-forms
• Paint peels off from buildings etc.
• Corrosion(söövitus) of steel
structures
• human health
What can be done to decrease
acid rains
• curbing the release of the
pollutants(saasteained)
