It was the nice and cheerful time. Many people agreed to become our volunteers this day. There were about 50 persons, mostly students from the nearest university and some my colleagues came to help us. Youngsters were wonderful! They were so enthusiastic, for example, they thought of some additional activities. We certainly add these to the programme of an event next year. Surprisingly, but just that raised the vast of money. The total raised exceeded the income of the last year. Proposals In the light of this year`s experience, I would like to make some proposals for a similar event next year. The more different activities we have there, the better it is. Jack Shirazi's Java Performance Tuning website (http://www.javaperformancetuning.com/) is a good source for performance tips, and links to tools and other resources. Recent numerical benchmarks on Linuxes found that compiled C++ and Fortran were at least twice as fast as Java byte code. But the performance was very dependent on the chosen JVM; IBM's implementation exceeded the performance of C++ code compiled with gcc [Ladd 2003].
