Short overview of London

The new parliament included a great clock, which is now known as Big Ben. In the 19th century new museums were created in London such as the Victoria & Albert, the Science Museum and the Natural History Museum. The first doubledecker bus appeared in the streets of London as early as in 1904. After the two world wars, London went through a massive rebuilding. Several structures were built in London to mark the year 2000: the Millenium Dome, Millenium bridge, London Eye etc. London's vast urban area is often described using a set of district names. Since 1965 Greater London has been divided into 32 London boroughs. However, it is a city that is surprisingly easy to get around, with the comprehensive and easily navigated London Underground or `Tube'. London's population was 7,172,000 on the latest Census Day of April 2001. This is 14.6 per cent of the total population of Britain.

TUGEVUSÕPETUS KORDAMISKÜSIMUSED

1. Materjali käitumine koormamisel (reoloogilised mudelid, konstruktsioonimaterjalide mudelid, materjali seisundid). Elastsuse all mõistetakse materjali vastupanu sõltumatust koormamiskiirusest ja võimet täielikult taastada esialgne seisund peale koormuse kõrvaldamist. Plastsus on materjali võime piiramatult deformeeruda ja tekkinud deformatsiooni säilitada. Viskoossus on materjalis tekkiva pinge sõltuvus deformeerumiskiirusest. Põhiomaduste kombinatsioonidek...

Informal letter to a friend describing a house for rent

Dear ..............., How are you? I hope you are well. I'm writing to let you know that I think I've found the perfect house for you. It's in a really nice location. Maardu, Harjumaa is a beautiful tidy town. It features a beautiful downtown, where you can easily walk around, shop, eat and dine. But the best thing about it is that the town is less than a twenty kilometres from the capital and the rent for the house is only £169 a week. The house is really adorable outside. It's made of light grey bricks and has a restored wood frame windows. Also, it's got small balcony and is surrounded by a beautiful garden. Plus, modern security system. Inside, the house is nice and comfortable. It has two floors. On the ground floor there is a charming living room and modern fitted kitchen with all the equipment you would expect. As well as a dining room and mediumsize WC. Upstairs there is one big lovely bedroom and one smaller guests bedroom...

Tartu Kutsehariduskeskus IKT osakond Jekaterina Misuna & Marija Mironova VÕRGUTEABETEENUSED (NIS) Referaat Õpetaja Mihhail Karutin Tartu 2009 SISSEJUHATUS Kohtvõrguga töös on üldine eesmärk pakkuda kasutajatele läbipaistvat võrgukeskkonda, st kõik arvutid peaksid olema võrdselt kättesaadavad. Teiste ülesannete jaoks pole sellist spetsiaalteenust loodud. Pealegi ei tasu paljude süsteemiülemate meelest Internetiühenduseta kohtvõrgus DNS-i ülesseadmine end ära. Seepärast töötas Sun välja võrguteabeteenuste süsteemi NIS (Network Information Services). NIS hõlbustab üldist juurdepääsu andmebaasidele ning soodustab informats...

Hoe to write an argumentative essay?

information is given about the problem that is going to be discussed. The angle from which the problem is going to be looked upon in the essay is also stated. In longer essays these are in different paragraphs, in shorter ones they can be in one paragraph. The body of the essay usually consists of several paragraphs, the number of which depends on the length of the essay. Each paragraph should begin with a topic sentence. The following sentences should enlarge on the theme, give examples, etc. If it is an essay discussing the advantages and disadvantages of something, the advantages should be grouped together and so should be the disadvantages. One paragraph should only talk about one thing, aspect, etc. If a new thought begins, a new paragraph should be started, too. In essays that express the writer's opinion mainly, one paragraph (usually the last one before the conclusion) should be reserved for the opposing viewpoint.

Romans stayed for half a century, when they left, different Germanic tribes came and estabilished new kingdoms. They brought a new language with them. The Old English is developed from their Germanic dialects. After that, came Christians and brought new words like martyr, bishop etc. The second and last conquest was in 1066, when the Duke of Normandie, also known as William the Conqurer, invaded England to claim his right to the throne. He was the one who estabilished the House of Normandy. He brought Old French to England making it the official language. It gave many new terms to English, like pig and pork etc. After the hundred years' war, English took over as the official language. Also many writers and scientist influenced the language a lot

Report

THINK: why you are writing the report, why the reader needs your report and what she might be interested in. Think about the best way to present the facts. If it’s a report of events (e.g. a traffic accident), describe them in chronological order. It should NOT be written like a letter! NO salutation/sign-off. Impersonal style (PASSIVE!), unless you make suggestions or give personal opinion – then you can use “I”. Formal language –no contractions, slang, etc. You can use the following format at the beginning of the report: To: From: (DO NOT write your own name. A member of the student committee etc. is fine) Subject: Basic structure 200 (+/- 10%)  Introduction: Aim of the report Status of the writer (who you are – not your name – to write the report given in the task) Source of the information that the report is based on a survey, state when and by whom the survey was carried out.  Body paragraphs:
