Capital Punishment The adherents of the death penalty refer to public safety. Still, even though violent criminals are locked away from the society forever, there is also another possibility for the inmate to escape the full punishment. However proving whether one is guilty or not is a very complicated and time-consuming process. From an ethical perspective, the death penalty is, undoubtedly, a violation of human rights. Most death penalty critics charge that it is particularly barbaric when applied to mentally retarded people and juvenile delinquents. In this case, capital punishment looks like senseless cruelty. A number of states had already passed legislation adopted by the Supreme Court in June 2002 prohibiting such executions to this group of people. As for juvenile delinquents, we should admit their lack of maturity thus they may be less culpable than adults who commit crimes. ...
Should Mercy-killing Be Punished? In spite of the fact that human life is very precious and every life should be saved when it is possible, there is also known mercy-killing, the act of killing someone who is suffering painlessly. It is argued, when mercy-killing should and when it should not be punished. On the one hand, mercy-killing should be punished when it is carried out by people who do not have a license for euthanasia. Not everyone is capable of deciding over someone's life. For example, even doctors do not always know if a patient is really dying. On the other hand, mercy-killing should not be punished when it has a permission of a court. This way all aspects would be taken under advisement by many people, considering the advisory opinion. In conclusion, mercy-killing should not be punished only if it is thought through by many specialists who find that it is the only way. Mercy-killing is the last alternative of all.
Workday needs fairy tales Every person has a way to escape the day to the wonderland, through the music, the art of movies, or through the books. Person can loose a job, all the collected treasure, their love. Even if they have just one friend who cares and supports them, they are not alone. It is very encouraging to think that there is someone who will run to help you, when everyone else turn their back. Music is something that can light up the worst day. Music is filled with many feelings, many words and a lot of soul. Music is like a good friend who is always there. If a soul is filled with hate, music is the one to answer with raw, aggressive and straight forward sound. When the mood seems hopeless, it's music that surprisingly lifts the corners of your mouth with it's swinging and rhythmic melodies. If you are feeling down, then it's the music, like mother's soft fondle, that gently cheers you up w...

Eating fast food In today's age of comfort and convenience, fast food needs no introduction. Everyone from a 2 year old toddler to a 60 year old grandpa seems to be enjoying it every time they get. And why not? It's delicious, it's filling, is really affordable, and available just any time of the day, being only a phone call away. What more can you ask for when you are living life in the fast lane? Well, plenty fast food is all good tasting, except that it is not nutritionally balanced and, therefore, unhealthy in the long run if consumed on a regular basis. Fast food is loaded with calories from refined sugar and fats .It is also very high in sodium, coming from common salt and other additives. On top of all this, fast food is deficient in dietary fiber and essential micro-nutrients like vitamins and minerals. To make matters worse, heaps of fast food are normally guzzled down with gal...
its better to have any religion then to be atheist. We live in the 21th century where democracy and freedom of different kinds dominate in most parts of the world. Freedom of worship is not an exception, therefore people can believe or not believe in anything they want. According to this many people decided not to have any religion at all and called themselves ,,atheists". These people believe in their own physical and moral forces only, but now and here i will try to persuade the reader that having a God or some deity is better than to be godless. First reason, why it is better to be a religous person than atheist, is your spiritual and mental safety because if you belive in God , you will always have someone to rely on even in the worst situations, and you will never give up as you would probably do, if you stayed against the misery alone, on your own. Secondly, i would like to point out that with having a God to believe in your every...

People should have the right to design their own babies. Have you ever caught yourself thinking about what if you had the power to design your own baby? Most likely everyone has. It is every parent's hope that their child will turn out to be a perfect human being without any physical or mental disabilities. But is it moral? First of all, if parents could design their own baby everyone would be perfect. What is more there would not be any babies born with illnesses or disabilities, both mental and physical. This is good news both to parents and children because living together with a handicap or being one is a very hard and sad thing. Another major point is, how far would people go designing their babies. One thing is to make sure that your baby is healthy but to design your child's appearance is superficial, what is more, it is morally wrong. In addition the way one person looks is not as impo...
For and against owning a mobile telephone. A mobile phone is a long-range, electronic device used for mobile voice or data communication over a network of specialized base stations. Mobile phones may support many additional services, and accessories, such as SMS for text messaging, email, packet switching for access to the Internet, games, Bluetooth, camera with video recorder and MMS for sending and receiving photos and video, MP3 player, and radio . There are many for and against situations why mobile telephones are necessary for our life. First of all, I would like to discuss a big minus of mobile phones. Scientists say that mobile telephones have a badly affect for people health. It is the main problem, which is against owning a mobile phone. Talks, which we make by mobile telephone, turned out to be expensive. It is necessary to have a lot of time to understand how use that mobile. On the other side, there are many good side...
The Internet is making literature increasingly irrelevant in the modern world Stanislav Stõkov MASB11 When computers were not so spread as they are today, and the Internet had not appeared in the lives of people, we used to spend much more time reading. Literature and books were our best friends, and one of the most important ways on entertainment. Nowadays, if you ask a person, when he or she has read last a book and what the book's title was, the person will not know what to answer. Nobody reads any more, or if they do it is on the internet and only a summary so as not to get tired too much. The Internet entertains superficially, as people do not gain too much by ''surfing'' it. Yes, maybe a new pair of glasses for spending so much time in front of a computer. I do not say there are no educating websites that are worth visiting, that real...
Ireland Position Ireland is the third largest island in Europe, and the twentieth largest island in the world. It lies to the northwest of Continental Europe and is surrounded by hundreds of islands. To the east of Ireland, separated by the Irish Sea, is the island of Great Britain. Politically, the Republic of Ireland (also known simply as Ireland) covers five sixths of the island, with Northern Ireland, part of the United Kingdom, covering the remainder in the northeast. Climate Overall, Ireland has a mild, but changeable, Oceanic climate with few extremes. The warmest recorded air temperature was 33.3 °C at Kilkenny Castle, County Kilkenny on 26 June 1887, where as the lowest recorded temperature was 19.1 °C at Markree Castle, County Sligo on 16 January 1881. Inland areas are warmer in summer, and colder in winter there are usually around 40 days of below freezing temperatur...
A multilingual internet? English seems to be everywhere and that's why it might make us think that everyone in the world speaks English. If this were true, it would bring benefits for worldwide communication, but it also may become a threat to cultural diversity. It is said that about 75% of the pages on the Web are in English but only 12% of the world's population can communicate well in English. The position of English is beginning to change. Both Europe and Asia are growth areas and are conducting e-business. Companies are beginning to realise that they will have to translate their websites for their various customers. Businesses all over the world are now faced with a huge challenge creating a multilingual website. It is not an easy task because different cultures have different needs. Companies doing e-business simply need time to translate their sites into the various languages necessary to do business. Meanwhile, more and mo...
Improved Windows for Cold Climates In this paper the possibilities of improving the energy performance of windows in cold climates are exam-ined. The background for using windows with improved energy performance is the need to reduce the en-ergy consumption in buildings. Since the heat loss through windows often represents half the total heat loss from houses, much energy can be saved by developing and using better windows with respect to energy performance. The main purpose of having windows in houses is that they provide daylight and view, but windows also provide solar gain that can be utilized as a contribution to the space heating in the building. Therefore the windows also have a positive influence on the energy balance of buildings. To evaluate the possibilities for developing better windows with respect to energy performance when used in Nordic and arctic climates, seven different window types have been examin...
Every Cloud Has a Silver Lining Essay "Every cloud has a silver lining" - this is a very commonly used expression meaning that every bad situation has some good aspect to it. It's usually said as an encouragement to someone who is struggling in difficulties and is unable to see any positive way to get out of it. I have to say that I strongly believe in the meaning of this proverb and I try to recall it in my mind every time I'm in a complicated situation. Although I, like every other person in this world, have my ups and downs, I mostly like to think of myself as a positive person. I always seem to surprise people with my "can-do" attitude and smiley face, especially in severe or akward situations. I tend to believe that there's always something good in bad and that things will always turn out well, no matter how hopeless circumstances might be. Some of my friends, as well as couple of my family members are strong pessimists. While spe...
Samuti on miinus aeganõudev ettevalmistustöö.
My favourite book My favorite book is called "Ma suudan hüpata üle lompide".It is written by Australian writer Alan Marshall. It is Alan Marshall`s autobiography. He talks about himself and about his life.I think that probably I like this book so much, because it is written of real persons life. The book began with birth of Alan and ended, when his family had to move. In the very beginnig of the book Alan gets paralysed and after that his muscles started to shrink and because of that his legs were crooked. Doctor`s only idea was that they should press Alan`s legs straight. It was hard work to his mother, because she had to do this and try to heal his son. It is very tragic, but it is the truth. In the middle of the book Alan has to go to the hospital, where he is surrounded by adult men. They admired Alan`s strength and courage to fight for his life. Alan always had the view that life does not ...
Eesti Eesti laiub Läänemere idakaldal. Eesti kogupindala on ligikaudu 45 000 ruutkilomeetrit ja tema elanike arv on umbes 1,5 miljonit. Eesti on üks hõredamini asustatud riike Euroopas, ainult 35 inimest ruutkilomeetri kohta. Ligi kolmandik rahvastikust elab pealinnas Tallinnas. Piki Eesti rannajoont paikneb mitmeid lahtesid ja poolsaari. Lääne ja põhjakaldast eemal asuvad arvukad saared. Suurimad neist on Saaremaa ja Hiiumaa. Geograafiliselt saab Eestijagada neljaks : Põhja, lõuna, lääneja idaeestiks. PõhjaEesti on suhteliselt tasane ja madal. Siin on kena rannajoon abajate, neemede ja pankrannikuga. LõunaEesti on künklikum, kuid siin pole ühtegi mäge ega mäeahelikku. Eesti kõrgeim punkt SuurMunamägi on 318 m üle merepinna. Suurimad tööstuslinnakud asuvad IdaEestis. LääneEestis asuvad kaunid looduskaitsealad. Sisemaa on p...
Drugs are chemicals that change the way a person's body works. You've probably heard that drugs are bad for you, but what does that mean and why are they bad? Medicines Are Legal Drugs If you've ever been sick and had to take medicine, you already know about one kind of drugs. Medicines are legal drugs, meaning doctors are allowed to prescribe them for patients, stores can sell them, and people are allowed to buy them. But it's not legal, or safe, for people to use these medicines any way they want. Cigarettes and Alcohol Cigarettes and alcohol are two other kinds of legal drugs. (In Estonia, adults 18 can buy cigarettes and alcohol.) But smoking and excessive drinking are not healthy for adults and off limits for kids. Nicotine is the drug in tobacco leaves. Whether someone smokes, chews, or sniffs tobacco, he or she is delivering nicotine to the brain. Each cigarette contains about 10 milligrams of nicotine. Nicotine is what keeps peo...
Friendship Friendship is an in-depth relationship combining trust, support, loyalty, respect and understanding. Being able to trust and relax with your friend is a big part of friendship. Friendship is a feeling of comfort and emotional safety with a person. It is when you do not have to weigh your thoughts and measure words, before keeping it forth before your friend. It is when someone knows you better than yourself and assures to be your side in every emotional crisis. Different people have different definitions of friendship. For some, it is the trust in an individual that he or she won't hurt you. For others, it is unconditional love. There are some who feel that friendship is companionship. People form definitions based on the kind of experiences they have had. Many people say, "Oh, he's a good friend of mine," yet they never take time to spend time with that "good f...
For and against commercial advertising on TV The purpose of this essay is to compare the positive and negative aspects of commercial advertising on television. Firstly, I think commercial advertising is the most important way of advertising, because the television is the main channel of information in today's world. Therefore, advertisements on television will give information about a new product to a larger amount of people. Furthermore, without this info our society would not exist, as it depends on people, who consume. Secondly, I think commercial advertising on television is important and good, because it helps television stations to get money for buying new films etc. The programmes shown on television have a higher standard and all this thanks to the profit from commercial advertising. Thirdly, although the advertisements on television help the television stations, I think they are also ...
Academic success in my culture: the most important factors Stanislav Stõkov MASB11 Academic success is determined by a wide range of factors. For some students, they may not have all of the perfect components, but they rise above their difficulties to have success. Whether a student is gifted academically or not, an important factor is personal determination. Students, who invest more of their free time in their studies and make more effort in lectures than their peers, generally have higher levels of academic achievement. A key component to success is a student's work ethic. Students who are willing to put extra hours in to study and prepare for classes and presentations tend to improve their skills and academic abilities. Students, who take less challenging classes or are satisfied with less work, often will have the result of average academic success. As mu...
Setting goals and trying to achieve them is an important factor of success Stanislav Stõkov MASB11 Every person's main goal or dream is to succeed in life. While the mission stays the same, the only difference is how it is achieved. Usually people set goals for themselves and attain them step by step, but how important is it in general? The advantages of setting goals include firstly, acting on a certain plan. If people have their goals straighten out, then they will not come to a point where they do not know what to do or what will happen next. It is much easier to move from one point to another if there is a direction. Secondly, if one goal is attained then people feel already sense of achievement, which motivates them to go onward. Therefore pushing their limits toward success. The disadvantage is if people set...
For and Against Mobile Phones Mobile phones have become a essential part of people's lives. Almost everybody has a mobile phone. This essay will deal advantages and disadvantages of using mobile phones. Nowadays mobile phones have internet. It is very useful and it guarantees a quick access to the information one need. Furthermore, why mobile phones are important is that one can call help. For example when there has been an accident , one can call quickly the ambulance. Also mobile phones are very handy because one can use it almost everywhere. Whether one is in a forest or in a big city, one can call or use the internet. But mobile phones have their downsides too. Firstly, buying a good mobile phone which has internet access, GPS and other useful applications is quite expensive. Secondly, mobile phones have made people lazy. Hardly no-one goes to knock on a door to ask a friend out. Instead they call or s...
Most needed professions in Estonia in 21st century All people in society have a role. All adults should have jobs. Some professions are more needed in society than others. In Estonia we need mostly newer professions, connected with computers. I think doctor is a most needed profession. We have so many illnesses and nobody knows what it is. We need people, who help us to cope with them. In Estonia doctors earn not much money, that's why a lot of them go to foreign country to work and to earn their living. The second most needed profession is connected with computers. More growing computer using and replacing jobs with robots and computer programs leaves some people without jobs. But companies need somebody to look after the computers and computer repairmen who know how to fix the computer problems. There are viruses computers and hackers who try brake in computers and all companies computers need to protected from those threats. ...
Diana Ostrat Essey How does the United States influence Estonia? The United States of America with it's global economic and political superpower is one of the most influential countries in the world and therefore it’s influence can also be felt in Estonia. Fluctuations in Estonia’s status as an independent country have had significant impact on the amount of influence from other countries, whether it is the language, eating habits or lifestyle. But
Cigarettes Enemies Or Friends? A cigarette is distinguished from a cigar by its smaller size, use of processed leaf, and white paper wrapping. There are about 1.2 billion smokers in the world who are absolutely attracted to the cigarettes. As the new generation is growing up, the so-called "smoking-cult" is a normal matter and that enormous number of smokers is only increasing. But as a matter of fact smoking is just a bad habit and very dangerous for your health. So can we call cigarettes our friends? Most countries in the world have a legal smoking age of 18. That means that when you are not and adult you should not smoke or consume any products related to tobacco and cigarettes. But if to look into our street picture, there are seen so many under age smokers that it is really threatening. It all starts from the home how you have been raised, how strict were the rules a child had to follow and how much did your parents ...
Violence on television. In today's society television plays a big role. People watch TV for many different reasons. They watch TV mainly for entertainment, but they also watch it to learn and to find out news. Violence is a major problem, it has affected people for ages. Although violence on television is not the greatest thing, it should be not be banned. In my opinion TV can be very educationaland it shouldn't be banned. Most people watch TV to get away from reality. Watching shows that depict a fantasy world are a lot more interesting to watch. People don't want to see things that happen to them on a regular bases. TV can be educating. For example, there are countries that you haven't visited. Some shows take you right in the middle of it and you don't even have to walk. People also watch TV to find out news. It's much faster than the paper and the picture is moving. In one point of view TV c...
Having a job while studing In nowadays we can see that students main occupation is not only studing but working too. When is it necessary and is this a best decision? Is it good to have a job while studing? There is some plusses and minuses. I think that some people can not study without working. Example, when you are living in a country side and you do not have car, then you need to lease a flat. But when your parents are not supporting you or they do not have opportunities to do that, then you need your own money. You need to buy your own food, you have to pay the bills, you have to compensate your study loan so the working is necessary. I think that having a job is useful in many ways. When you are working you can practise independence. You just have to manage, you do not have your mom beside you who is helping you out and finding solutions for everything. Besides the independence, you ca...
What makes a good movie? There are many movies made every year but not all get a positive feedback. Some of them get very famous but some of them don't. So what kind of movies attract people to go to the cinema? It is not very simple to answer this question. Some of us like movies that are futuristic and mystical, but the others love movies that involve love, romance or even violent movies where they can see crime and investigation. I think a good movie has to be true-to-life and stunning. I especially love movies that surprise me. A superb movie has to be educative it has to let me know about something new. The best movies have professional actors. Without great actors and actresses, the movies are not so stunning. They need to make the movies seem real and original. People don't think the same way. We have different opinions, so not everyone like the movies that I enjoy watching. Nevertheless a movie has to be fas...
Competition: good or bad ? Competition is something that everyone has in his or her life. When you are young and still studying in school, you would compete with your classmates for better grades, when you get older and start working, you would compete with your colleagues to get higher position with better salary. Companies compete with each other to get more customers.Countries compete with each other for a better economy. Even animals and plants compete with each other. But what are the good and bad sides of competition? First of all, competiton makes us strive(pingutama) more than usually. When we must compete with other people, we want to be best or at least good. As a result, we are ready to do things that maybe are difficult or boring, but improve our skills. For example, if estonian proffessional skier Kristina Smigun wants to win a gold medal, she has to focus on the upcoming contest. That means to train every day without compl...
Sports Centre Jyri sport centre is a modern building with up to date technology. The sports centre includes a gym, budo hall, dance hall, swimming pool and a room where you can play pall games. I think Jyri sports centre has more advantages than disadvantages. I am rather optimistic and think it is such a privilege that we have sports centre in jyri. Thanks to the sports centre there is many hobbies you can choose from. You can learn different martial arts, different dances, basketball, football and table tennis. you can take swimming lessons and much more. When you just want to take a time out you can take a steam bath, a regular sauna or just relax in a bubble bath. To me jyri sports centre has only one disadvantage. That you have to pay for these things which the sports centre includes. I find this as a disadvantage because in these hard times I do not have the luxury to go swimming or visit the gy...

for Google or Target or Acxiom, pursuing the holy grail of knowing customers better than they know themselves". This is pretty much the same with politics, government uses networks to identifying and targeting citizens to undrestand their views and expectations. For example if you notice that political message in Facebook and it seem to be talking to you personally, maybe this is no coincidence ?. Mr Warren and Mr Brandies in their essey wrote about gossiping, nowdays we use gossiping to, but in more ,,convenient" ways. If I say ,,convenient" I think all this political campaigns in our news, online or on TV, are full with constant stream of memes, links and rumors about political leaders and candidates, mixt with truth and lies. With those gimmicks they can focus our minds to choose ,,wizely", to choose THEM in the next elections.
