ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEM

ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEM The term acid rain refers to what scientists call acid deposition. It is caused by airborne acidic pollutants and has highly destructive results. Scientists first discovered acid rain in 1852, when the English chemist Robert Agnus invented the term. From then until now, acid rain has been an issue of intense debate among scientists and policy makers. Acid rain, one of the most important environmental problems of all, cannot be seen. The invisible gases that cause acid rain usually come from automobiles or coal-burning power plants. Acid rain moves easily, affecting locations far beyond those that let out the pollution. As a result, this global pollution issue causes great debates between countries that fight over polluting each other's environments. For years, science studied the true causes of acid rain. Some scientists concluded

which in turn pollute the air. Solar power is a fantastic solution. Now that solar radiation is at a climactic peak, we can reap power from the sun using solar panel systems. These range from home systems to larger scale systems powering entire communities and cities. 2. Deforestation. While individuals can rarely have a personal impact on the deforestation rate, there are other things you can do. Discourage deforestation and thus environmental degradation by reusing plastic and paper bags and packaging. Support eco-friendly businesses and buy products that are either recyclable or have a longer durability. 3. Ozone layer depletion As with potable water depletion, the responsibility for stopping the ozone layer depletion lies on the shoulders of individuals and governments alike. People can contribute by not using products that contain human- made substances that destroy ozone molecules

ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS

ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS Our environment is constantly changing. However, as our environment changes, so does the need to become increasingly aware of the problems that surround it. With a massive influx of natural disasters people need to be aware of what types of environmental problems our planet is facing. Current environmental problems make us vulnerable to disasters and tragedies, now and in the future. Unless we address the various issues seriously we are surely doomed for disaster. Current environmental problems require urgent attention. 1. Pollution: Pollution of air, water and soil require millions of years to recoup. Industry and motor vehicle exhaust are the number one pollutants. Heavy metals, nitrates and plastic are toxins responsible for pollution

Environmental problems (Keskkonnaprobleemid)

Environmental problems Nimi Klass Biodiversity The variety of life on Earth, its biological diversity, is commonly referred to as biodiversity. The number of species of plants, animals, and microorganisms, the enormous diversity of genes in these species, the different ecosystems on the planet, such as deserts, rainforests and coral reefs are all part of a biologically diverse Earth. Appropriate conservation and sustainable development strategies attempt to recognize this as being integral to any approach. In some way or form, almost all cultures have recognized the importance of nature and its biological diversity for their societies and have therefore understood the need to maintain it. Yet, power, greed and politics have affected the precarious balance. Why Is Biodiversity Important? Who Cares? · Why is Biodiversity important? Does it really matter if there aren't so...

Estonian Environmental Strategy

Estonian Environmental Strategy According to the article in constitution, every person in Estonia is obliged to preserve environment and to compensate for damage they cause. In the last fifty years, the use of natural resources has been irrational. The result is that there are turned out many environmental problem areas and preconditions for environmental crisis. Estonian environment was significantly polluted by Soviet army and it takes decades to eliminate this. After Estonia regained its independence, Estonia has moved towards a liberal and free market economy. Different enterprises and various funds have financed large investments to address enviromental problems. The main object of environmental protection is to provide everybody wtih a healthy environment and natural reources without causing damage to nature. The other goal of

Environmental problems today

Environmental problems today Nowadays we need to stand face to face against the environmental problems in spite of our everyday routine, that may affect the nature. Which are the most problematic environmental problems and how can we avoid them ? To start with, the biggest problem is global warming. The temperature is rising due to air pollution, which is caused by smoke from factories and of rising levels of CO2 . As a result, smog and soot causes health problems. Also, a big problem is deforestation. Due to the fact that it is causing destruction of the rainforest, it contaminates the water. To solve these problems, we certainly should use renewable sources of energy and we need to

Essay-Environmental problems

As time goes on, society will have to face many problems. The biggest issues are with the environment that is around us. It is surprising how our traditional habits can contribute so strongly to environmental problems. They affect the whole world, even our little country Estonia. We, as individuals, are capable of doing anything to save our world. To begin with, everyday life has been disturbed because of COVID-19. Life stopped during this pandemic not only in China where it started, but also across the globe. When we look at the present situation, very many people are confined to their own homes. In Estonia, students

Environmental problems in Estonia

Good afternoon, i talk about environmental problems in Estonia. plakatile ei kirjuta :D Main environmental problems in estonia: · Oil shale mining and burning · Excessive tree felling · Air pollution · Eutrophication Oil shale mining and burning. Estonia environmental problems are mostly caused by oil shale mining and burning. About 30 000 Hectare ground is unusable. We have a large ash mountains thanks to burning of oil shale. To reduce pollution we need to decrease mining of oil shale and shale-based electricity producing. Air pollution the biggest air pollution is in large cities. It´s caused by big factories, a lot cars and deficient environment ordinance. To decrease air pollution we need to use less cars and more public transport.

Keskkonna kunst (Environmental art)

Environment al art Marika Rodionova 11a What is that?  The term "environmental art" often encompasses "ecological" concerns but is not specific to them. It primarily celebrates an artist's connection with nature using natural materials. The concept is best understood in relationship to historic earth/Land art and the evolving field of ecological art. The field is interdisciplinary in the fact that environmental artists embrace ideas from science and philosophy. The types  Ephemeral - made to disappear or transform  Designed for a particular place - and can't be moved  Involves collaborations between artists and others, such as scientists, educators or community groups What is the point?  Informs and interprets nature and its processes, or educates us about environmental problems  Is concerned with environmental forces

Environmental issues in Estonia The Earth is considered to be the most beatiful planets in the Universe. But our planet is threaten by environmental problems. Even a small country like Estonia can make difference. Our capital city is fighting against air pollution. But people produce much refuse and ways of recycling are getting old. Water pollution is also a problem in Estonia. We have factories that let their waste run into rivers. One of the biggest problems in Estonia is air pollution. Our air is polluted by exhaust fumes, because today we have a lot of cars, buses and other machines. In 2009 we had 407 cars to

The situation at Poku is satisfying. Water and noise pollution is low because there are no cities around here. Wildlife is good and getting better because we have beautiful forests near Poku which gives good living and development places for wild animals. Paper and glass recycling is well organized. We have paper and glass containers and workers are cleaning them daily basis.

Keskkonnasotsioloogia kodulugemine

An Integrated Framework for Encouraging Pro-environmental Behaviour: The role of values, situational factors and goals Linda Steg*, Jan Willem Bolderdijk, Kees Keizer, Goda Perlaviciute Selles artikklis räägitakse, millises ulatuses ja mille kaudu võivad erinevad strateegiad põhjustada püsiva ja tugeva keskkonnasõbraliku tegevuse.

The Mayor Environmental Problems in Estonia

The Major Environmental Problems in Estonia I would like to talk about the major environmental problems in Estonia. There are many of them but I would like to point out the most important of them: air pollution, huge amounts of waste because of overconsumption and abuse of the natural resources. To begin with, air pollution is a big problem in big cities and in industrial areas. Air pollution is often caused by the exhaust fumes of the cars or by big factories. It affects nature and peoples health causing them breathing problems.

The Major Environmental Problems In Estonia

The Major Environmental Problems in Estonia The environment and saving it are important topics in today's world. In fact there are often several articles in newspapers and on television about environmental problems all around the world. To begin with, Estonia is a little country with small towns. In spite of that there is pollution. Most of the people here have their own cars and they prefer driving five hundred meters by car than walking by foot. In addition to that pollution is also caused by industries which are often located in towns near peoples' homes. As Estonia belongs to developed countries, people have enough power purchased and they mindlessly buy things they do not even need

smaller because people should to recycle rubbish. Today we have different containers, separately for paper, biodegradable things and bottles. I can't understand why people don't do it. Is it really so hard? I think no. To conclude, all people, nation, rich or poor, have great responsibility to challenge the problems that confront our country and the world on the whole. I am of the opinion that when people start understand that many things depend on our actions then environmental problem will become smaller. In order for earth to support us, we have to support it first.

Environmental Issues and Sustainable Development in Estonia

People today are too lazy to think or to do something to protect the environment. They dump their waste into forests and even rivers which causes air and water pollution. Fortunately, people have come up with different organisations and events to help clean our envrionment. An annual event such as ,,Teeme ära!" motivates people to go out, spend time with friends and family and have fun while cleaning up the trash. This event first took place in 2008 and is now one of the biggest worldwide environmental events. Estonian Commission on Sustainable Development is one of the organisations that is working on improving the conditions of our country´s environment. This organisation focuses on the growth of welfare, economical balance and viability of the Estonian cultural space. Its main goal is to raise the welfare of our society without damaging the environment. This organisation works with the government to be successful in global competition with a

Why are people ingnoring evironmental issues

Why are people ingnorig evironmental issues? People are always talking about environmental issues without actually doing anything about it.There are not many people who are devoted to saving the Earth. It seems like people just do not care, but that might be just a small part of the reason. The biggest reason for ignoring environmental issues might be that people tend to focus on immediate problems rather than on problems that are far away in the future and seem unrealistic. If there is no immediate danger or a problem to be fixed, than people just do not consider it to be important. And people do have immediate problems to be fixed, because life is getting busier each day. People have already so much to worry about, they do not have the time to make „Earth saving plans“. The perfect reason, or rather an excuse is

For example turning off lights that are not being used helps to reduce global warming. Until recently, concern about the environment revolved almost exclusively around local and national problems. Over the past two decades, however, scientists have increasingly focused attention on more far-reaching environmental threats, such as global warming, ozone depletion, and deforestation that transcend national boundaries. A new concept global environmental problems has entered the public arena, especially in the area of foreign policy and economic matters. Positive sides of outdoor learning

lessons are always a good way to get children communicating and making platforms for further friendships. In outdoor education students have the same goals they are reaching for and by respecting each other and working together, they can achieve them. Successfully accomplished common tasks will give students the feeling of team spirit and understanding that everybody is important. Outdoor education is a beneficial tool to create a sensible and aware society. Todays increasing environmental problems obligates everyone to take responsibility. Students often come across the phrases "recycle" or "reduction of pollution", but not always is the background nor the causes explained thoroughly. Students cannot develop their environmental disposition without effective, meaningful teaching, that outdoor education provides. Teachers can and should give students deeper knowledge about natural resources and how exactly their deficiency will affect them personally

To: local authorities From: a member of the Nature Club Subject: environmental situation at Poku Date: 19 November 2010 Introduction As a member of the Nature Club I have decided to write a report on the environmental situation at Poku and make recommendations based on the opinion poll carried out at Poku. The results of the opinion poll are presented below. Pollution General situation at Poku is satisfactory as the level of water and noise pollution is rather low as there are no big industrial enterprises in the vicinity. Problematic areas are air and litter pollution as many tourists visit the place leaving behind exhaust gases and rubbish on the ground. Wildlife

Hunter (1997) suggests that it would be extremely useful to see ST as an example of flexible and an adaptive arrangement, where different tourism methods are chosen by suitability to local conditions. Swarbrooke (1999) adds to Hunter (1997) that sustainable tourism is not only preserving 1 Adventure Tourism Project Management Madli Tuvike physical, environmental and host community resources for the future, it is about meeting the needs of all parties such as tourists, the industry itself and community. Faulkner et al. (2003) defines ST as something that takes care of and develops the natural and cultural sides of the destination, protects local's prospects to life. Meet the needs between the tourism market and host community. Also, from economical point of view ST is enduring and transfers money back to the community, it will achieve

around. Furthermore you can not carry all your books with you all the time because they are just too heavy. Also paper books are not very environmental friendly. Secondly, an e-book has a lot of good qualities, for example, you can purchase a book every time you want in spite of going to the book store. Also, if you have a smartphone or a laptop you will always have your books with you, just in case you want to read. An e-book is also more environmental friendly. But an e-book has also some disadvantages. For example, you have your laptop or smartphone battery life to worry about and you can catch some nasty software bugs in the reader and cause it to freeze up. To sum up, everyone has their favorite ways to read a book and I think that both will survive because there will always be people who prefer a traditional paper book to an e-book and also people who prefer an e-book to a traditional paper book.

Writting a summary

Union“; „Europe and the wider world“ and „The future of Europe“. ‘Europe is somewhere else.’ This provocative statement opens the first chapter of „Europe. A journal for young people“. It is, of course, not true. As EU citizens, Europe is our home. It affects our lives in many areas. For example: money (euro is a common currency); flying has become much cheaper and safer; the police forces in the EU work closely together and European environmental protection lays down common standards. The second sections provides information about what does the European Union exactly means and when did 28 countries come all together. The third section gives a brief, simple explanation of how the most important EU institutions work. The European Union is a grouping of countries and their citizens. Both of these have a say in European matters. This happens through the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament. The Council of the

E-book – the book of the future

extreme cold, heat, water, etc.). Because of the high-tech appeal of the e-reader, e-books are a greater target for theft than an individual print book. Along with the theft of the physical device, any e-books it contains also become stolen. If a e-book is stolen, accidentally lost, or deleted, in the absence of a backup it may have to be repurchased. Environmental Concerns - E-book readers require various toxic substances, the disposal of their batteries in particular raises environmental concerns. Certainly it will take time to get used to new things, but as for me, I believe that most of the disadvantages of e-books will be overcome and step by step they will replace the conventional books. And maybe people of my generation will retell their grandchildren unbelievable stories about reading paper books instead of digital versions.

Wind energy vs oil shale

source of energy has no perspective. Also it is not economically useful to produce electricity from oil shale. It would be more beneficial to use oil shale for producing oil shale oil. In present price of black oil, producing electricity from oil shale is causing 21 EUR loss per ton of oil shale. Conclusion To sum it all up, it seems to me that using wind energy would be more reasonable, because it is cheaper and environmental friendly. Oil shale should be used to produce more valuable products than electricity. In my opinion, it is also possible that these two types of energy sources could exist together.
