Oliver twist - kokkuvõte

He prayed earnestly for Rose, and the next night Losberne came to help them. After he examined her, he told them there was little hope for her survival. Oliver prayed harder and spent time in the cemetery watching a funeral. When he returned, he was told that if Rose woke up from the sleep she had gone into, then she would experience a full recovery. Otherwise she would die. The next morning, Dr. Losberne came downstairs with the news that Rose had awakened, and everyone rejoiced the news. Chapter 34: Oliver was overjoyed at the news that she would recover, and was gathering flowers along the road for her sickroom when a post chaise came upon him. The voice of Giles called out to him and asked him of news, and he told him that she would live. A young gentleman then exited the coach and further questioned Oliver. He instructed Giles to take the coach back to his mothers, because he felt...

Surprise

In addition, it seemed a bit weird that the envelope was on the floor, next to the table, but on second thought it could have been there by accident. So now I went upstairs, to my room and sat on the armchair. I sat there for a moment, holding the letter on my lap and looking out the window to let the curiousity grow. Than I prepared to tear it open, but some noise from downstairs interrupted me. I sat still and listened for a minute, it was quiet again. As I laid my eyes on the envelope again the same sound, only louder, interrupted me again. Now I stood up, placed the envelope on the armchair and went down the stairs to look for the source of the noise or something else to explain it. There was nothing wrong and it was perfectly silent. As I stood there looking around me the front door opened. It was my sister coming in...

Prepositions

They were driving to work together. She's going to the dentist's office this morning. 2)TOWARD and TOWARDS are also helpful prepositions to express movement. These are simply variant spellings of the same word; use whichever sounds better to you. We're moving toward the light. This is a big step towards the project's completion. 3)With the words HOME, DOWNTOWN, UPTOWN, INSIDE, OUTSIDE, DOWNSTAIRS , 3 UPSTAIRS, we use no preposition. Grandma went upstairs Grandpa went home. They both went outside. 4)We use THROUGH to show movement from one side of an enclosed space to the other. For example: The train went through the tunnel. 5)We use ACROSS to show movement from one side of a surface or line to another. For example: She swam across the river. 6)More prepositions of movement: She ran to the door....

It's old, but really sturdy, which is good, you know, for me. I miss you, too. I'll write again soon, but I'm not going to check my e-mail every five minutes. Relax, breathe. I love you. Bella. I had decided to read Wuthering Heights -- the novel we were currently studying in English -- yet again for the fun of it, and that's what I was doing when Charlie came home. I'd lost track of the time, and I hurried downstairs to take the potatoes out and put the steak in to broil. "Bella?" my father called out when he heard me on the stairs. Who else? I thought to myself. "Hey, Dad, welcome home." "Thanks." He hung up his gun belt and stepped out of his boots as I bustled about the kitchen. As far as I was aware, he'd never shot the gun on the job. But he kept it ready. When I came here as a child, he would always remove the bullets as soon as he walked in the door. I guess he considered me old enough...

E.Hemingway

This success, combined with reading a romantic chronicle of an English gentlemen traveling abroad, infects Cohn with wanderlust. Upon returning to Paris, he comes to Jake's office to persuade him to travel to South America with him, offering to pay for the entire trip. He worries that he is not living life to the fullest. Jake responds that only bullfighters live their lives "all the way up." Tired of Cohn pestering him in the office, Jake invites Cohn downstairs to have a drink. Jake knows that once they finish the drink it will be easier to get rid of Cohn. At the bar, Cohn continues to harangue Jake about traveling outside of Paris. He complains that he is tired of Paris and the Latin Quarter. Jake asserts that Cohn's discontent has nothing to do with geography, saying, "You can't get away from yourself by moving from one place to another." After the drink, Jake says he needs to return to the office to work. Cohn...

The New Beginning II

"Oh well," sighed the man, "sleep while you can, little one!" "You are back!" a gentle voice surprised him. The soldier turned around and saw princess Eliza, the youngest daughter of the queen, swaying at the stairs and smiling her sunny smile at him. "Your highness!" said youth and wanted to make a deep bow, but a sudden laughter stopped him. "What on earth are you doing?" asked the princess and came downstairs waving with her fan. "Oh!" she shouted then and stopped. She was staring at the baby now, whom was scared by such a sudden voice and started crying. "Could you please be a bit quieter, your highness?" whispered the man to the lady who was widely smiling now. "I'm sorry," she said and carefully she came closer to the child. The soldier hugged it tighter and soon the little one stopped its cry and smiled to the young man. "Oh how adorable!" said the princess in a low voice...

A Disasterous Evening

I hoped it would be one of my most wonderful birthdays ever. While I was getting ready for the party, witch was taking place in my parents summer cottage, something terrible happened. I spilled my coffee on my white dress. I panicked and didn't know what to do. Luckily my sister came and told me that she could lend me her red dress. When I went downstairs all my friend were already there. They wished me happy birthday and gave me lots of amazing presents. Everything was going well till my mum brought the cake. Suddenly there was a loud crack and the electricity went out. My mum tripped over a chair and the cake fell on the floor. We lighted the candles and everyone helped to clean up the cake from the floor. I wandered what else was gonna happen that night but luckily everything else turned out well. I was glad to see...

Semi formal complaint letter

Dear Mr Smith, I am writing in because of a problem I have with the new neighbour, David, who has moved in downstairs . Unfortunately, his habits seems to be different than mine. The issue is that David is a musician who plays his electric guitar very late night. I understand he is in a band and needs to practice but I think he can not do this in apartment. I work in home, so for me, it is important to have silence so I can concentrate on my work. But when David is playing all the time it is unable to get any of my works done, except when he is out...
