Harry was a friend of Basil's, the artist who painted Dorian's picture, and he had quite peculiar ideas of life. He told Dorian that youth is the most relevant in life and that everyone should enjoy it. Basil knew that Harry wouldn't be good influence for young boy, but he wasn't able to prevent their encounter. Over time Harry's ideas fix in Dorian's mind and he changes into someone that he was not like before.
