depend on Similar Mechanisms We saw in Chapter 11 that synaptic changes underlying memory in at least some parts of the adult brain, notably the hippocampus, hinge on the behavior of a particular type of receptor for the neurotransmitter glutamate—the NMDA receptor. Ca2+ flooding into the postsynaptic cell through the channels opened by this receptor triggers lasting changes in the strengths of the synapses on that cell, affecting the presynaptic as well as the postsynaptic structures.

Esialgu oli tegemist grupi liidri G-Enka sooloprojektiga, mille taustad olid pärit DJ Paul Ojalt. Üsna pea liitus Revo Jõgisalu, kes aitas praeguseks kadunud Top Raadio stuudios sisse räppida sellised lood nagu "Depend Upon" ja "O.D. Of Sobriety". Esimene kontsert anti 1996. aasta oktoobris klubis Bel Air. Edasi soojendati juba No Big Silence'it ja esineti kõikvõimalikel Hip-Hop üritustel. 1997. aasta detsembris anti välja kauaoodatud kassett "The Real Kuhnja Homophobes". pollution that is much more radioactive and toxic than, for example, coal waste. But if we are looking at the facts, burning coal pollutes the Earth much more than nuclear power plants because more waste is generated. CO2, which is released from burning coal, is the main cause of global warming. Nuclear waste is collected and hidden in rocks or under ground, where it won't face the environment. However we shouldn't depend on nuclear energy as Uranium reserves are ending, especially when the world population is increasing and so is the demand for energy. There is Uranium in seawater, but getting it is too expensive. We can only depend on nuclear power for a few years or decades. On the other hand, we will always have wind and solar power. Right now, producing solar energy is quite expensive but as technology improves, we will hopefully be able to produce solar energy with lower costs

Present perfect and Present perfect continious

Contrasts with Past Simple Past Simple is used with time expressions which refer to definite times. The time may be stated or understood. Compare: I've bought a new car. (indefinite) I bought a new car last week. (definite) I bought the car after all. (implied definite: the car we talked about) Choice between Past Simple and Present Perfect for recent events may depend on the mental attitude of the speaker. This in turn may depend on whether the speaker feels distant in time or place from the event. I've left my wallet in the car. I'm going back to get it. Here the speaker may be about to return, and feels that the event is connected with the present. I left my wallet in the car. I'm going back to get it. Here the speaker may feel separated in time from the event, or be further away. Present Perfect Continuous The Present Perfect Continuous is the present tense of have + been + an ing-form

The value of things VS the price of things

That is value, a memory, an important date and things like such. The difference between value and price is hard to tell. Something pricey can be valuable and the other way around. At the same time, value can be shown in numbers as well. There can be multiple things that are valuable or the value can depends on the price of the thing, but a flower that has been picked up from a garden can be valuable as a rose that was bought for money. Value can depend on how wealthy people are as well, for some people a simple piece of bread can be nothing, meanwhile poorer families look at it as a blessing, something in value that has to be shared and used wisely. Value doesn’t have to be always pricey, mean something or be a part of some kind of a memory, normal things daily can have a value, a car is an example. People need it to drive to work everyday in their normal lives, plates have some value, knifes, forks.

Brexit (inglise keelne)

Even though Brexit is seen by its leaders as a positive change, it will also have quite a negative effect on Britain and play a big role in reshaping European Union. Most British people were voting for Brexit to regain sovereignty, to ‘take back control’ and regulate their laws. At first glance, it may seem that they would be in charge of their actions which would mean that nobody on the outside can manipulate them. Although nowadays countries depend on each other a lot and the UK is no exception. Everything is more connected than ever and because of that existing completely on your own is quite an impossible task. For that matter, giving up a little bit of sovereignty can be beneficial. For example, trading in the EU. It is not always regulated by countries and some may not like it, but it can also lead to new routes, destinations which in the end can bring bigger profits. Also, being on your own and

Tourism Advantages, Disadvantages

Tourism is becoming one of the most attractive sectors in many countries in the world. It developes very quikly because people travel a lot and companies invest much money in tourism. It has many benefits but also much can be said against the tourism. Firstly, the main advantage of tourism is that it gives people places to work. For instance hotels, bars and museums. Due to that, the standards of living increases and unemployment decrease. Secondly, many countries depend on the money whick tourism brings. It can help developing countries to become stabled. By attracting people from almost everywhere, the area can get much money in order to develop the other public services such as hospitals and schools. On the other hand, tourism may cause misunderstandings and problems because tourists do not always respect traditional cultures. They bring the bad influence to the community and affect local custom. Is global climate change man-made or not?

many inventions in all fields of human activity. Unfortunately only recently we have noticed that by making our life more comfortable and more enjoyable we destroy nature and cause appearance of ozone holes which are directly connected with global warming. On the other hand many scientists believe the world's warming and cooling happens in cycles due to various factors and Earth is starting a cooling trend after a long warming trend. That way global warming does not depend on people's activity. We have seen and heard so many times how was discussed the problem of global change but there is still no answer what is the reason of that. At this moment we just can make some supposition and hope that some when we will find the right solution.

The Importance of Pets

The Importance of Pets Pets play an important role in today's society and are capable of influencing people's lives in many ways. However, are they really so useful as we think? From an educational standpoint, when you get a pet you will have to take care of a creature which will depend entirely on you. Your pet's life is in your hands and this alone will make you a more responsible person. However, you will always need to keep an eye on your pet and this will restrict your ability to do other things. From a scientific point of view, most people who have pets enjoy better health than those who do not. Active pet owners enjoy an additional dose of exercise. Also, owning a pet will lower stress rates and it will prevent various types of illnesses

Reading a quality or a popular newspaper

Secondly, quite big difference is in the price and the looks between those two papers. Quality papers are printed on large pages, have an undramatic layout and very simple desing. Althoush they look serious their price is not very low. But on the other hand tabloids aim to excite the reader visually, using techniques such as very large headlines and photos. Those newspapers are more cheaper than quality papers. Accordingly, the readerships of those two different newspapers depend on the aforementioned different characteristics. For example, tabloids are more frequently bought by older and younger generations, because those people might find serious news boring, but on the other hand popular papers are attracting them with large headlines and photos. And quality papers, inversely, are read by people who do not care about those scandals and bloated news and want to keep up with politics and other serious topics.

Challanges of the 21st century

Challenges of the 21st century We live in 21st century almost for 12 years. It seems like a very long time, but it has gone like a bird and by this time has changed very many things. Honourable audience, I would like to talk about challenges of the 21st century. If we talk about Estonia then in my opinion our first challenge of the 21st century is to stop exodus. But to solve this problem we should ask why is the exodus so high? Answer is simple: salary, unemployment, salary. Very many things depend on incomes, so we head away from our country to find a better place where salarys are higher. For me it seems like our parliament wants to help all other countrys, for example Greece, or reckon with somebody else before help ourselves. To my way of thinking parliament should take care of our county number one and then think out how we can and should help others. The second aspect is economic cri...

University or work?

University or work? After graduating high school we have to make a huge decision which may affect the rest of our life. We all have two options: to go to school or start working right away. It’s important to think early about what type of career you want to do in the future because this will help you on the road of choosing between work or university. If you choose to go to the university you need to know specifically what do you want to study and be sure of your decisions. Going to university may be expensive, because tuition fees can be high and you will probably need to take loans to pay it or even take a part-time job. But university definitely means higher salary and better education because most of the jobs require higher education or specific degree. Working is better than university in a way that you will be making money straight away and may start saving money to invest it in future. As well a...

Infovabadus ja kodanikukultuur

,,INFOVABADUS JA KODANIKUKULTUUR" Dangers As we see ICTs have many advantages, but there is always the other side. There are dangers that one must be aware of. For example one must remember that everything that is once on internet will always be there. Your future employer can see the pictures that you have uploaded to Facebook and other sites like this. And I think that it is bad to share too much personal information online. You will never know who might abuse it and how it's done. There is a lot of anonymity online. That's a danger too because it seems that you can say everything and there will be no punishment but actually it is not like that at all. If there is insulting or threatening online there is a way to find out who did it. There are many children online. So they are threatened too. There are many predators who might claim to be someone that they are not and make friends with children. Then when children trust them they migh...

Marriage is an outdated institution

Marriage is an outdated institution Is marriage a wonderful institution nowadays, when the meaning of this word is totally different from the meaning that expanded many years ago? Is this document which indicate the union of two people who have given a permission to love each other in sickness and in health, until the death do they part is the evidence of everlasting love? I think the answer for these questions is No and I would talk about my opinions why i think so. First of all, i think everyone know that the rate of divorces is quite high. For example, 50% percent of first marriages, 67% of second and 74% of third marriages end in divorce in America. There are many reasons why this happen and people get divorced. Infidelity, poor communication, change in priorities and cte. Nobody can't say that it does no happen to us, because we love each other so much. but never say never, because if your marriage ...

They have arranged their own monopolies to make the best financial gains and most comfortable lives. With globalization they would have to work hard to maintain their income and they cannot exploit poor people as they will have better incomes and employment due to globalization and would not have to depend on politicians and governments. The role of television in our society

The role of television in our society Television is just one of the many examples of how technology has changed our lives. Having a television set in the home has become very essential in todey's society. We depend on it to entertain us with its sitcoms and to inform us about current world issues. The problem is that sometimes what we hear or see on television is not always accurate or correct. Sometimes news stories give us the wrong information and we believe that it is true because that is being said on television. They may give you a story, but they may leave out some details to prove their point or to make the story more interesting.

London Tube

The London Underground, or 'the Tube' as it is universally known to Londoners, is normally the quickest and easiest way of getting round London. London's Tube Network Greater London is served by 12 Tube lines, along with the Docklands Light Railway(DLR) and an interconnected local train network. Trains generally run between 5am and midnight, Monday to Saturday. Operating hours are reduced on Sunday. The cash single fare for all journeys via Zone 1 is £4, up to £2.40 more than the Oyster fare. Something about history Railway construction in the United Kingdom began in the early 19th century. The most pressing environmental issues in Estonia

I think that today that problem should be smaller because people should to recycle rubbish. Today we have different containers, separately for paper, biodegradable things and bottles. I can't understand why people don't do it. Is it really so hard? I think no. To conclude, all people, nation, rich or poor, have great responsibility to challenge the problems that confront our country and the world on the whole. I am of the opinion that when people start understand that many things depend on our actions then environmental problem will become smaller. In order for earth to support us, we have to support it first.

Essee

We understand concepts like time (past, present, future), religion, philosophy and moral behaviour. A human is curious, asks questions and finds answers. Unlike animals, we are conscious of our inner thoughts, desires and sensations and have the ability not to follow our instincts. The knowledge we have is used to make our world more controllable. The structure of our society is difficult and widely controlled by economy, politics, science and technology. Our lives do not depend on nature, we have created our own artificial world and we are proud to be able to control it. In my opinion, developed countries have separated themselves from nature and by our actions we tend to harm it as well. Our thoughts should not be focusing on what is beneficial to us, but also to what is beneficial to the environment we live in. There is no other creature on planet Earth more developed than human. We are not wild anymore, we are the controllers of this planet

DOES MONEY BUY EVERYTHING?

Money plays an important part in our lives. In several aspects, it is the most important thing in life.Without money we could not buy our food, clothes and all the other things that we need to live comfortably. We use money not only to meet the basic needs of life but also to pay for our own advancement. We use it for education which helps us to live a better life. But does money buy everything, especially happines? We live in a material world and most of our lives depend on materials for happiness and comfort. All of these materials have to be purchased and so on a very basic level, without money, you cannot survive, at least not very comfortably. This is the very first level of money buying happiness, money can buy things necessary for survival and without life, there is no happiness. Some people say that they have money but they are not still pleased, the reason is that we're always spending on the wrong things, and in particular

My future career

My future career. I often think about my future plans and career. Now I am studying at the secondary school. But after finishing school I try to enter at the university. It is very difficult for me to make the right choice of my future profession. There are many different professions and you can find exactly that which interests you. For example, waiter, manager, actress, lawyer, doctor and so on. To decide, what kind of work suits me, helps communication with adults, meetings with representatives of universities and large selection of useful literature. Also I need to think about how well I can do what I would like to do. In my opinion, very interesting and noble profession is a doctor. I understand that it is necessary to study a lot to become a doctor. You must have good knowledge of biology, chemistry and mathematics. I realize that I should know the foreign languages too. Of course, much will depend from my exams result. So now ...

How does the United States influence Estonia?

How does the United States influence Estonia? United States of America is one of the most influencial countries in the world. It influences the whole world with their political views, military forced etc. To my mind, one of the biggest influences that the United States has on us is the language. Estonian language surely is very beautiful but has a lot of loans from other languages. Also in colloquial language, especially with the younger generation, we switch a lot of words. Like instead of saying "vabandust" we say "sorry". Estonia is not economically dependent on the United States because they are not one of our most important trading partners, but as the economics of the United States has a great influence on the world economy, they can still indirectly have an influence on Estonian economy. Estonia is mainly influenced by the Americanization that is taking over the whole world. American products are everywhere:...

Cars enslave us rather than liberate us

New solutions involve situations, where the drivers first car purchase is also not the last. In turn, there will come new spendings on new cars and car services, so the transport would be more powerful and comfortable. Of course, not all people can afford it to themselves, however, the prices of such services are always rising. In contrast, car offers the freedom to people, because it allows driver to make their own decisions when and where to drive. A person does not have to depend on someone or something and stock up more time to reach the destination. The driver is responsible for its own driving machine, so it would be clean and comfortable. Taking these point into consideration, I would say that cars enslave people. It can be considered as vicious circle that begins with the fact that a person must have a stable job and salary and ending with the need to service a vehicle. Once a person is used to the comfort, it is very complicated and difficult to get rid of it.

Brands are...

I also think that the frequency of how a particular brand is being bought by other people depends on society and advertisement of that brand. Considering an example of product placement: if your favorite actor is using a Sony computer, this would certainly affect your choice in the store. So it means that you do not always buy the required or desired object. Therefore, we can say that, this is not really you but "branded" you. It is very sad, but unfortunately, these days many people depend on brands. As for me, my attitude to brands is neutral. If I really like something, because of its quality, for example, I will buy it no matter how popular the brand is. If I have a choice between two similar things, I will buy the cheapest one, because I value money. And from my point of view, it is not necessary to have only brands in order to be attractive, and more importantly you should be yourself, because the real uniqueness is inside you.

Advantages and disadvantages of television

without anything to talk about at school, where comedians and singing stars are major topics during breaks between classes. The same is true about some adults. Sometimes TV programmes become the topics of common interest of the people and without, them they have nothing to talk about. Nowadays some people in our country watch television programmes from about six in the morning to the early hours of the next day. It means that contemporary people for various reasons depend upon television. They watch everything from news and sports reports to dramas, educational and entertainment programmes. Today some people become TV addicts and feel - unhappy if they fail to find another way of passing leisure time. Free time is regulated by television. TV occupies our free time. Instead of going to the theatre or reading books people watch TV. People rush home, gulp food to be in time to watch their favourite programmes. Very often programmes are bad, as TV

horizon more or less. Governments should provide it for free because university might not be as essential as say learning to write but it is increasingly important in the modern world. Jobs in developed nations are becoming much more specialised and service based. You cannot (for example) just turn up at a computer software company and `learn the trade' like you could at a coal mine in years past. Skills needed today are more complex and depend on scientific and mathematical knowledge, and/or an ability to think about abstract concepts. Such understanding can only be taught in higher education institutions. The point of education is to allow opportunity. As opportunities change, so must our education systems. Also why do pay the university costs yourself is that you already have education free till the end of high school. So what do you want more from the Government?

Life at Sea

looks after the navigational equipment and acts as the doctor on board. And the Chief Officer will look after the shipboard maintenance and cargo operation on board. Should the ship enter or leave ports, you may be required to work twelve hours a day depending upon the type of ship’s contract. During the off duty time, you are free to do anything as you want, but you will seldom actually complete your rank duties during shifts, so you will actually have to over-work after those. It will depend on which type of ship you are sailing with. From time to time, you will fly really far to join ships by plane, depending upon which company you work with. Practicing you will get head to head with difficulties and become a professional. In conclusion, I want to say, that to me, this job is worth studying and working hard. It is actually more than a few reasons why I choose it. It is just what I think, I should do. TTÜ EMARA 12.05.15
