Stalin's Russia: political, cultural

And if they were, it was because of wartime privations. 300 000 to one or two million Jews were killed in ghettos and camps. The master plan: the deniers say the Nazi's didn't have an intention to exterminate European Jewry, but to deport the Jews out of the Reich (regime or empire). They say that the Holocaust was the invention of the Jews and that the concentration camps were `'inventions of the Jewish mind''. WHY DENY IT? Holocaust deniers deny the happenings of the holocaust to reduce perceived sympathy to Jews; to plant seeds of doubt about Jews and the Holocaust; to undermine the legitimacy of the State of Israel; and to draw attention to particular issues or viewpoints. To innate hatred towards the Jewish: Mark Weber generalises the Jews into a unified whole and suggests that they present a unified threat to American and world culture. Money as a motive: David Irving is said to earn his living by lecturing

Smoking should be banned in public places

be banned in public places. I think this will disturb every one who is not smoker, when someone smoking next to you when you enjoy your lunch. In my opinion, this is good idea for building smoking rooms, then we do not discriminate smokers who have tobacco addicts. On the other hand, there are many disadvantages of banning smoking in public places. Many people like smoke cigar, when they are drinking whisky, so they can not continue the tradition. Although some bars deny smoking inside and client have to do it outside. In conclusion, I would say that a large proportion of people are smokers and we have to consider with them. I just wish that they will quit smoking because this is very bad for their healths and it can cause cancer.

The Catcher in the Rye (Kuristik rukkis) - Presentation/Esitlus

Need a body cry? *gin if, should The title of the book comes from the poem's name. Holden misinterprets a part of the poem to mean "if a body catch a body" rather than "if a body meet a body". He keeps picturing children playing in a field of rye near the edge of a cliff, and him catching them when they start to fall off. Despite his insistence that he was standing next to her when the accident happened, Bella knows he was standing across the parking lot and he should not have been able to reach her in time. She also insists that Edward used superhuman strength to keep the van from crushing them. Edward refuses to confirm or deny what Bella claims. He stalks off frustrated and angry when she won't just let the incident drop. At home, Charlie is concerned, but gives Bella her space. Bella has to deal with an hysterical phone call from Renee who demands that Bella return to Phoenix. Bella tells Renee she is staying in Forks. When Bella goes to sleep, she dreams about Edward for the first time.

really modest and straight-forward. For my unluckiness both of them were passing the hall at that time. Teacher heard my rude comment, so the whole next month I was under her picky pressure never am I now to repeat my mistake again and say something out loud without ever considering it first. However, I still just can't be mad at my teacher she's such a wonderful person! And her lovely way of laughing... Maybe I'm a teacher's pet I don't deny it, at least completely. We do have fun with her, but I guess I am a bit more excited than the others about her reaction when I say something funny or stupid. Once she fell ill now really, my mood fell as well, for the next two weeks. I guess I'm attached to her and caring in a way, but I really hope that one day we can be really good friends. I just hope that the day will come after all, my English is good and she seems to like my jokes, too.

How does the United States influence Estonia?

Nowadays we have become so accustomed to it that we do not notice how much American culture there is around us every day: the junk food we eat has become a quick and cheap alternative to home-cooked meals, the branded products we buy, the music we listen etc. In addition, the influence that the English language has on our mother language has many linguists speculating that Estonian will soon be gone and forgotten. We cannot deny that we have not taken up some words from the English language and that the younger generation is not using more and more loan words. However, I do not think that our language is in great danger because for example Estonian is one of the 24 official and working languages in the European Union. Therefore, our language is not in danger of disappearing any time soon but it will develop and expand with the influence of English. It is only a natural to happen.

who just "go with the flow" and do not worry about everything. They just enjoy life itself and try to inspire those who are too consistent. If the humanity would take some time and think about the idiotic things they whine about they would realize that they are way too overrating and that life is too short for it. Money is definitely one of the most vital sources of happiness. Also in this subject the lack of it which brings the unhappiness all over the world. We cannot deny the importance of it but we must value what we have and not cry over the things we do not. Some of us are rich and wealthy, some of us are not. Usually it is so that people who cannot afford everything and who have suffered more in life are living in reality with both feet on the ground. I admire them due to the fact that sometimes I get 10 feet off the ground and I do not want to come down. But I am bothered by those who can only complain, because then they miss the bright side of life

I am quite positive, that before the movie, people did not really know the basic story of how Facebook was invented. Jane Eyre raamatu kokkuvõte Charlotte Brontë lühikirjeldus kirjandus

Jane expects Rochester to propose to Blanche. But Rochester instead proposes to Jane, who accepts almost disbelievingly. The wedding day arrives, and as Jane and Mr. Rochester prepare to exchange their vows, the voice of Mr. Mason cries out that Rochester already has a wife. Mason introduces himself as the brother of that wife—a woman named Bertha. Mr. Mason testifies that Bertha, whom Rochester married when he was a young man in Jamaica, is still alive. Rochester does not deny Mason’s claims, but he explains that Bertha has gone mad. He takes the wedding party back to Thornfield, where they witness the insane Bertha Mason scurrying around on all fours and growling like an animal. Rochester keeps Bertha hidden on the third story of Thornfield and pays Grace Poole to keep his wife under control. Bertha was the real cause of the mysterious fire earlier in the story. Knowing that it is impossible for her to be with Rochester, Jane flees Thornfield.

Hemingway A Farewell to Arms (main characters)

reading: it is easy to see how Catherine's blissful submission to domesticity, especially at the novel's end, might rankle contemporary readers for whom lines such as "I'm having a child and that makes me contented not to do anything" suggest a bygone era in which a woman's work centered around maintaining a home and filling it with children. Still, even though Catherine's excessive desire to live a lovely life may, at times, make her more archetypal than real, it is unfair to deny her the nuances of her character. Although Catherine alludes to her initial days with Henry as a period when she was slightly "crazy," she seems perfectly aware of the fact that she and Henry are, at first, playing an elaborate game of seduction. Rather than being swept off her feet by Henry's declarations of love, she capably draws the line, telling him when she has had enough for the night or reminding him that their budding love is a lie. In fact, Catherine's resistance

about you. A person like Dorian Gray worries about his fading beauty and would do almost anything to keep it. For example he would wish a pretty portrait of himself age instead of him. It is easier to hide away a ugly-looking painting, that depicts the eeriness of your soul, than yourself. All that matters is the present day and the face that you see from the mirror. Right? As it turns out, even for Dorian, the saying out of mind- out of sight doesn't really work. You can only try to deny something but it is inevitable that one day the truth will come out and haunt you again. Since the main emphasize of Dorian's worries concerns his looks it is no wonder that he is selfish and weak. It is not too hard to sway his mind. Whether it is his true nature or an outcome of being easily influenced and manipulated with, Dorian cares not for standards of morality or consequences of his actions. He often concentrates on one of his most influential

Tulemüür, paroolide turvalisus, UAC

TULEMÜÜR Mida tulemüür endast kujutab? Lihtsalt öeldes on tegemist filtriga, mis teatud reeglite alusel filtreerib sisenevat ja väljuvat võrguliiklust. Vaikimisi seatud reegleid tulemüüridel tavaliselt pole, mistõttu tuleb endale sobiv reeglistik pärast tulemüüri installimist välja mõelda ning seejärel tulemüüri sisestada. Soovitusi reeglite loomiseks on üsna raske anda, sest iga reeglistik sõltub konkreetsest võrgust, pakutavatest teenustest ning kehtivast turvapoliitikast. Siiski on võimalik anda üks üldine juhis, mille järgi võiks tulemüüri reegleid looma hakata vaikimisi on kõik keelatud ("Deny all" põhimõte), s.t algselt on tulemüürist juurdepääs kõigile teenustele suletud ning lubavaid reegleid hakatakse lisama vastavalt vajadusele. "The case for socialism"

the clubs and social life of London; the columns of ,,Society" gossip in the newspapers and the differences of clothing and accent by which members of the ,,classes" can instantly recognise one another. We should respect our fellow creatures because they are good or clever, gifted or wise not because they happen to possess advantages of wealth or power. In so far as we accept these false standards (of wealth and class) we make ourselves less than free men. We deny the eqality of our common humanity. Vandalism. The worsest vice, because the most senseless, peculiar to our own time has been the destructive vandalism with which we have treated our physical heritage in our town and country. The period between the two European wars will stand out as one of the most destructive epochs in our history. The land is strewn with the wreckage of what was once beautiful. In point of fact the crime has been made possibly more by stupidity than by wickedness

Sotsioloogia essee: Hechter ja Horne

Meaning, which can be defined as a sum of common concepts and beliefs that enable cooperation, has been defined yet so differently by various sociologists. Emile Durkheim (Durkheim, 1912) tries to explain meaning by describing the importance of religion in social interactions, and by portraying the similarities between social interaction and religion. Society never stops creating sacred things. Durkheim (Durkheim, 1912) elaborates, that "when a belief is shared by all people, to deny or question it is forbidden." He brings an example of the right to free speech even if individuals' opinions differ gravely, in a civilized communication they will still respect the principle of free discussion. Durkheim assures that "we defer to society's orders not simply because it is equipped to overcome our resistance but, first and foremost, because it is the object of genuine respect". Thus, commonly generated meaning compels

Arvuti ja selle põhikomponendid, töö Windows’i keskkonnas

Arvuti ja selle põhikomponendid, töö Windows'i keskkonnas Esmatutvus arvutiga Arvuti (personaalarvuti, raal, computer) on kahest komponendist koosnev süsteem, mis on määratud info töötlemiseks. Arvuti komponendid on tarkvara (software) ja riistvara (hardware). Riistvara on arvuti nn. "käegakatsutav" osa monitor, hiir, korpus jms. Tarkvara mõiste alla mahuvad eelkõige kõik arvutis infot töötlevad programmid, aga ka igasugune muu elektroonsel kujul info, mis selgitab arvutikasutajale nende programmide tarvitamist (spikrifailid, juhendid, õpikud, teatmikud). Teiselt poolt liigitatatkse arvuti komponendid nende otstarbe põhjal sisend-, väljund ja töötlusseadmeteks. Sisendseadmete abil sisestatakse info (andmed) arvutisse, töötlusseadmed töötlevad seda ja väljundandmed väljastatakse väljundseadmete kaudu. Töötlusseadmed paiknevad tavaliselt arvuti korpuses ja tegelevad info töötlemisega. Töötlemine tähendab sisuliselt mingi programmi (...

TARTUFFE (inglise keelne)

If you would but have heeded my advice. SCENE VI ORGON, DAMIS, TARTUFFE ORGON Just Heaven! Can what I hear be credited? TARTUFFE Yes, brother, I am wicked, I am guilty, A miserable sinner, steeped in evil, The greatest criminal that ever lived. Each moment of my life is stained with soilures; And all is but a mass of crime and filth; Heaven, for my punishment, I see it plainly, Would mortify me now. Whatever wrong They find to charge me with, I'll not deny it But guard against the pride of self-defence. Believe their stories, arm your wrath against me, And drive me like a villain from your house; I cannot have so great a share of shame But what I have deserved a greater still. ORGON (to his son) You miscreant, can you dare, with such a falsehood, To try to stain the whiteness of his virtue? DAMIS What! The feigned meekness of this hypocrite Makes you discredit . . . ORGON Silence, cursed plague! TARTUFFE Ah

The Witch Trials in Salem

Once the witch hysteria was over Tituba withdrew her confession. One of the most horrific aspects of the witch hysteria was that if you were accused and you confessed your life was spared. However if you were accused and you denied the charge but where then convicted you were hanged. Furthermore if you expressed scepticism about the witch trials you put yourself in danger. You might be accused to being a witch. The two other women steadfastly continued to deny any involvement in witchcraft. Sarah Osborne died in prison on May 10 while awaiting trial. Meanwhile more and more people were arrested. Firstly, In her confession Tituba claimed that she met a `tall man from Boston' (the authorities believed he must have been Satan). She said she was forced to sing a book, which had other named written in it. That convinced the authorities that there must be other witches in Salem apart from those originally arrested. Furthermore in Mid-March Ann

It is worth noting a previous solution to the Problems of Apparent Reference to Nonexistents and Negative Existentials, rejected by Frege and later even more vehemently so by Russell. J1 is uncontroversial; J2 seems obvious; J4 is just a fact; and J5 is trivially true. Alexius Meinong (1904/1960) had boldly leapt to deny J6, insisting à la St. Anselm that any possible object of thought--even a self-contradictory one--has being of a sort even though only a few such things are so lucky as to exist in reality as well. Moriarty has being of that sort and can be referred to, even though--fortunately for England and the world--he lacks the property of existing. 2 With that otherwise unexplained distinction in hand, Meinong could deal handily with negative existentials in particular. Such a sentence says, of an

A New Earth

will come from a much deeper place within yourself. Most people are still completely identified with the incessant stream of mind, of compulsive thinking, most of it repetitive and pointless. There is no “I” apart from their thought processes and the emotions that go with them. This is the meaning of being spiritually unconscious. When told that there is a voice in their head that never stops speaking, they say, “What voice?” or angrily deny it, which of course is the voice, is the thinker, is the unobserved mind. It could almost be looked upon as an entity that has taken possession of them. Some people never forget the first tie they disidentified from their thoughts and thus briefly experienced the shift in identity from being the content of their mind to being the awareness in the background. For others it happens in such a subtle way they hardly notice it, or they just notice an

"Anna Karenina" kokkuvõte

He once again grows angry when he Anna requests to spend time with Vronsky before he leaves for a new job. Karenin is angry with himself for forgiving them, and he calls the divorce off. Stiva, who is worried about his sister, begs Karenin to give Anna the divorce, and Karenin grudgingly agrees. Betsy goes to tell Vronsky the news. Vronsky is overjoyed that Anna is finally his. The two decide to move to Italy together. Anna refuses Karenin's offer of divorce, because it would deny her custody of Seriozha. "'Oh, why didn't I die? It would have been better!' she said, and tears flowed silently down both her cheeks; but she tried to smile so as not to hurt him." The threat of death makes Anna remorseful, Karenin forgiving and Vronsky deeply ashamed. Once Anna improves, moods begin to shift again, as Kitty is now pregnant. "In spite of death, he felt the need for life and love. He felt that love saved him from despair, and that this

Mr. Darcy, with grave propriety, requested to be allowed the honour of her hand, but in vain. Elizabeth was determined; nor did Sir William at all shake her purpose by his attempt at persuasion. "You excel so much in the dance, Miss Eliza, that it is cruel to deny me the happiness of seeing you; and though this gentleman dislikes the amusement in general, he can have no objection, I am sure, to oblige us for one half-hour." "Mr. Darcy is all politeness," said Elizabeth, smiling. "He is, indeed; but, considering the inducement, my dear Miss Eliza, we cannot wonder at his complaisance--for who would object to such a partner?" Elizabeth looked archly, and turned away. Her resistance had not injured her with the

HAMLET We shall obey, were she ten times our mother. Have you any further trade with us? ROSENCRANTZ My lord, you once did love me. HAMLET So I do still, by these pickers and stealers. ROSENCRANTZ Good my lord, what is your cause of distemper? you do, surely, bar the door upon your own liberty, if you deny your griefs to your friend. HAMLET Sir, I lack advancement.
