Artiklis ,,Ideology, Identity, and Intercultural Communication: An Analysis of Differing Academic Conceptions of Cultural Identity" (2007) on samuti räägitud murest algupärase kultuuri identiteedi püsimise pärast.

Tekst 2: Bichler, S., Albert, I., Barros, S. et al. Nowadays, women seek more thrill and self-fulfilment from their leisure time. They want to have more personal challenge to overcome fear and increase confidence, but also to experience a natural environment (Myers, 2010). Estonian culture

estonian culture The culture of Estonia incorporates indigenous heritage, as represented by the country's rare Finno-Ugric national language Estonian, with mainstream Nordic and European cultural aspects. Due to its history and geography, Estonia's culture has been influenced by the traditions of the adjacent area's various Finnic, Baltic, Slavic and Germanic peoples as well as the cultural developments in the former dominant powers Sweden and Russia. Traditionally, Estonia has been seen as an area of rivalry between western and eastern Europe on many levels. An example of this geopolitical legacy is an exceptional combination of nationally recognized Christian traditions: a western Protestant and an eastern Orthodox Church. Like the mainstream culture in the other Nordic countries, Estonian culture can be seen to build upon the ascetic

In the villages children are playing and mothers with elaborate headdresses are getting on their daily lives, but if tourists come, they run indoors and villages become silent. In Thailand hill tribe treks have become infamous ,,human zoos". Tourists from all over the world traipse through the villages and this causes cultural and economic disaster. Also the benefits of toursim are often skimmed off by businessmen from outside the community. It ruins and changes the local peoples culture. The Masai of East Africa, for instance, are used as icons of exoticism in toursism, but they have been evicted from their lands. LEL 2E Notes on Vocabulary One of the key facts about the lexicon of any language is that it reflects in various ways the physical and cultural environment in which the language is spoken. A people unfamiliar with, say, horses is unlikely to have a word for `horse'; similarly with ploughs, printing presses, and internet porn sites. For the most part this is trivial it's hard to imagine how it could be otherwise, given the general nature of human language. People tend to make a great deal of the alleged fact (see Pullum 1989) that "the Eskimos have lots of words for snow", but

developments. Furthermore, the principles of tolerance and peaceful coexistence of different nations have often been underlined by the representatives of the European Union. The same ideas have lately been spreading in the Baltic countries. So, what are the main dangers to the tolerance and friendly coexistence in these countries? There are several phenomena which counteract the successful coexistence and integration of people from different cultural backgrounds. First and foremost, both coexistence and integration require a high level of tolerance from all those involved. Here, the major obstacle is often xenophobia which may be caused by a wide range of factors. As a rule, xenophobia occurs in big, mostly mono-cultural societies, where strangers are kept at a distance just because they have not been seen around before. On the other hand, xenophobia can result from the hyper-liberal immigration policy in some modern countries

every other country that has singed a treaty has to join him. Even when the States are in dept they can have major influences on the rest of the world by bringing everyone else down to. A lot of business goes through the United States and when some deals go bad, a lot of other countries have to suffer because of that. The United States is often referenced to “The land of opportunities” because people can earn a living out of everything. Cultural impact is also remarkable. The fast food companies are more and more expanding in Estonia and people are waiting for to try different meals that are common in the states, but not yet in Estonia; the movies, which probably are the greatest influence; books – from classical literature to modern, are giving good opportunity to spend time, theatre and many other cultural activities has given lots of possibilities to build up or own industry in these fields.

Chinese Americans have made many large strides in American society. Today, Chinese Americans engage in every facet of American life including the military, elected offices, media, academia, and sports. He suffered only five losses (four decisions and one TKO by retirement from the bout) with no draws in his career, while amassing 56 wins (37 knockouts and 19 decisions). How he became e cultural icon? Ali was well known for his unorthodox fighting style, which he described as "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee", and employing techniques such as the rope-a- dope. He was also known for his pre-match hype, where he would "trash talk" opponents on television and in person some time before the match, often with rhymes. These personality quips and idioms, along with an unorthodox fighting technique, made him a cultural icon. Later In later life, Ali developed Parkinson's disease.

adjusted to fit local tastes? • Price — Is a new pricing strategy required to deal with variations in local competition? Walmart, for example, discovered that several retailers in Germany already occupied their low-price niche. • Placement — How do customers in the locality make their purchases? • Promotion — Can your message reach across cultures? Are any unexpected responses due to cultural patterns? • A global company must carefully research the various markets, and prepare to make adjustments to its product and messaging wherever required. Sometimes it even involves changing the packaging (там дальше хз что написано)in

Theatres in Estonia

Although its repertoire is Russian, quite a number of Estonian classical plays are staged there. The audiences are mostly people of Russian nationality. There are two music and dance theatres in Estonia: 'Vanemuine' in Tartu and the national opera 'Estonia'. The Vanemuine has its own drama company and is therefore the largest of Estonian theatres. Theatres in small cities cannot be merely regarded as employers located far from centres and therefore the more valuable. The whole local cultural life is centred around them. Other famous theatres are Estonian Drama Theatre, Estonian National Puppet Theatre, Kuressaare City Theatre, Old Baskin's Theatre, Rakvere Theatre, SalongTheatre, Tallinn City Theatre, Theatre ,,Varius", Theatre NO99, Ugala Theatre, VAT Theatre and Von Krahl Theatre. Also there are three schools in Estonia which provide higher education in drama. The oldest and most academic of them is the Higher School of Drama at the Estonian Academy of Music

Art-based learning

I found several well recognized books, which give guidances how to use art in teaching religious education. One of the best and oldest is book ,,The Use of Art in Religious Education" by Albert Bailey in 1922. There are also many newer approaches for example, ,,Christianity through Art: A resource for teaching Religious Education through Art" by Margaret Cooling in 2009. The field of books to use Art in RE is various. Allthough useing this method we shoud consider our own cultural backround to adjust it for our pupils. One of the mentioned resources Margater Cooling´s book ,,Christianity through Art: A resource for teaching Religious Education through Art" seems to be a very useful source for RE teachers, who would like to use art as a method. Her book offers 24 large colour prints of a variety of works of art in different media (painting, sculpture, engraved glass, woven cloth, etc.), which have been chosen to reflect the global nature of Christianity

E-internet

there will be an increasing need for language choice for the different markets.English is so often used on the internet that it might make you think everyone in the world speaks English, or at least give you the impression that it is the worlds most widekyspoken language. If this were true, it would, off course, bring benefits for worldwide communication and understandig, thought it could also possibly become a threat to cultural diversity.English certainly seems to be everywhere, from films to pop music and TV, and from 15 business to science and other fields. Information varies, but suggests that about 75% of the pages on the web are in english.Yet English is the mother tongue for only 5,4% of the worlds population, while a further 7% of the worlds population are proficient speakers of English. This means that only around 12% of the worlds population can communicate well in English. This figure

The koala and eucalyptus form an iconic australian pair pair. Culture. Since 1788, the basis of Australian culture has been strongly influenced by Anglo-Celtic Western culture. Distinctive cultural features have also arisen from Australia's natural environment and Indigenous cultures. Since the mid-20th century, American popular culture has strongly influenced Australia, particularly through television and cinema. Other cultural influences come from neighbour Asian countries, and through large-scale immigration from non-English-speaking nations. Art Australian visual arts are thought to have begun with the cave paintings, rock engravings and body painting of its Indigenous peoples. Media

A letter to host family

My first language is, of course, Estonian, but I am also fluent in English. I started learning English in primary school at 3 grade and by watching movies I have improved my vocabulary a lot. I speak an intermediate level of Russian. I began learning it in fifth grade and all in all, I have learnt Russian for 6 years. I am nevertheless aware that learning a language within a classroom context is by itself, incomplete. So, in order to really be at ease in English, I feel that a cultural immersion would do me a lot of good. Through my language teachers, (whom are Estonians) I have learnt a lot about the life in America. Hence my desire to have first-hand experience of American life. I am particularly interested in experiencing family life in America, since it offers a cultural context that is undoubtedly different from mine. For this reason, I would very much like to find a nice family to live with in America. When it comes to leisure, I take pleasure in the simple things in
