Competition good or bad ?

Competition: good or bad ? Competition is something that everyone has in his or her life. When you are young and still studying in school, you would compete with your classmates for better grades, when you get older and start working, you would compete with your colleagues to get higher position with better salary. Companies compete with each other to get more customers.Countries compete with each other for a better economy. Even animals and plants compete with each other. But what are the good and bad sides of competition? First of all, competiton makes us strive(pingutama) more than usually. When we must compete with other people, we want to be best or at least good. As a result, we are ready to do things that maybe are difficult or boring, but improve our skills. For example, if estonian proffessional skier Kristina Smigun wants to win a gold medal, she has to focus on the upcoming contest

an individual all-around competition. However, many federations from the Eastern European countries were forced to boycott by the Soviet Union. Canadian Lori Fung was the first rhythmic gymnast to earn an Olympic gold medal. The group competition was added to the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Olympic rhythmic gymnastics is typically restricted to female participants, although Japan has begun developing programs in which men can compete and in Spain, men are allowed to participate in women's competitions. The men's program has yet to be formally recognized by the FIG, however, and men cannot compete in the Olympics as a rhythmic gymnast. Gymnasts in Russia and Europe typically start training at a very young age and those at their peak are typically in their late teens or early twenties Top rhythmic gymnasts must have good balance, flexibility, coordination, and

For and against globalization

For and against globalization. "One world, one language, one currency, one religion, one law, and equality" is the motto of globalization. To end globalization we must end as soon as possible all trading barriers that are between the different countries. We must send our products to all markets and make sure that all the markets are going to be affected. If all markets are connected with each other then they will start to compete and that removes inefficient producers. Furthermore it will rise the quality of products higher and reduces their cost. Secondly different products and technological progresses are going to spread faster all over the globe. It gives unlimited access for the poorer people all over the Word to get the cheapest source of desired goods and services. Thirdly removing trading barriers help unemployed people to get jobs and deincrease

Some days in July and August I also spend at home, because I had to take care after my dog and I wanted to buy some new clothes. Most of my time I hung around with my friends in Varbla. We rode a lot with horses and sometimes after workout we went swimming with them. Me and my friends took part in a movie which was made by Estonian and German people. It was filmed in beach Matsi and I really enjoyed that experience. In August me and my horse Estrella wanted to compete with other horses, but unfortunately I couldn't go to that race. A day before the race a horse hit me in the ribs and I wasn't able to move for a few days. My summer ended in Toila, where I worked with Tuuli. We handed out different leaflets and recommended people to drive safe. In conclusion I made some new friends and relaxed a lot in summer.

free. Another reason for this progress is that online newspapers have been made so easy to access. There were times when people could only get their newspapers by mail or from store, but now they just have to find Wi-Fi and use their gadget to be able to catch up with the latest news. In addition, even the most frequently published papers are only distributed once per day. This simply means that papers can’t compete with the Internet, because there we can see changes almost every hour. However, I can see why other people may think differently. The newspapers printed on paper have become a tradition which is going to be hard to let go. Quite a few people have grown up with the normal newspaper and for them it has sentimental value. In conclusion, internet is the newspapers future but paper printed ones will always be remembered.

One of these experiences that I treasured was a study tour to Taiwan I made last year, in which I had to compete with 120 candidates to become one of the 40 participants in the tour. We visited the Legislative Council of Taiwan and met the vice president of the Council to understand the issues of their society. We also visited government departments and met the famous economist, Woo Jia Ching. From this tour, I have gained much insight about the Taiwan society. One of the most visited places are the area near terrace, where you can find wonderful rose garden, which is very colorful and aromatic. At the beginning this land was owned by Grigori Jelissejev in 1897. Then he decided to build luxurious summer villa, which could compete with famous resting mekas in France, Riviera and in Italy. Inspired by views of Italian mountains the big merchant asked for development of a castle, which is in renaissance style. The building was finished in 1899. In the end of 19th century Jelissejev started constructing the park that was in an eclectic style. In those days all famous architects and landscape designers were working for this project. Olney's famous race is run every Shrove Tuesday, featuring women who have lived in the town for more than 6 months. It dates back to 1445 and it is believed all began with a townswoman late for the Shriving service at the Olney parish church. She heard the church bells ring out for the service and she fled her house fearful of being late. She ran the distance down the High Street to make it to the parish church - still clutching her frying pan and wearing an apron. The Olney residents (women) compete in traditional apron, cap, and holding a fying pan with a real pancake. They must toss their pancake once at the start and once at the finish. For the fastest Olney runner, there's a prize - but there are prizes too for the oldest participant and the one who raises the most for charity. For example, from Estonia many doctors have gone to Finland where the salary is three times bigger, but at the same time, there are not enough doctors in Estonia. The second bad thing for new member countries in this rule is free movement of goods. One way, it is very good that people can buy goods with better prices, because there would be no duties. In the other hand, it's bad for local companies, who must compete with whole Europe and at the same time they have to adopt the new rules (ecological, health protection at the working places etc) what usually need big investments (cleaning equipment, infrastructure).

Savanna

As a result much of the world's savannas have undergone change as a result of grazing by sheep, goats and cattle, ranging from changes in pasture composition to woody weed encroachment. The removal of grass by grazing affects the woody plant component of woodland systems in two major ways. Grasses compete with woody plants for water in the topsoil and removal by grazing reduces this competitive effect, potentially boosting tree growth. In addition to this effect the removal of fuel reduces both the intensity and the frequency of fires which may control woody plant species. Grazing animals can have a more direct effect on woody plants by the browsing of palatable woody species. There is evidence that unpalatable woody plants have increased under grazing in savannas. The last surviving population is said to be protected in the Niokolo-Koba National Park. During dry seasons they are able to live for weeks without water. Mating usually occurs during the wet season. Males compete using their horns for dominance, and the dominant male will mate with several females. Females give birth to only one calf after a gestation period of eight to nine months. Despite the name "giant", only the Derby eland's much larger, diverging horns make it a giant over the common eland.

one must not forget composers of classical music and folk music. Traditional music is a broad concept, as there is much variety between the different regions of England. Folk music varies from county to county and even within cities like London. 10. Sports A number of major sports originated in Britain including football, rugby, cricket, tennis and golf. The most popular sport of course is football. The country does not compete as a nation in any major football tournaments. Instead, the home nations compete individually as England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. 11. Government As part of the United Kingdom, Britain has constitutional monarchy and parliamentary democracy, with a queen and a parliament that has two houses: the House of Lords and the House of Commons. Supreme power is vested in parliament, which sits for five years unless dissolved sooner. The House of Lords was stripped of most of its

Health, Healthy habits and sports

The sports have changed greatly since the mid 1900's. Performances once thought to be impossible are common today. There are a number of reasons for this remarkable progress in athletics. They include increased competitions, especially in Europe, as well as improved training methods, equipment and techniques. The Olympic Games is an international multi-sport event subdivided into summer and winter games. The Olympic Games bring together thousands of the world's finest athletes to compete against one another. No other sports event attracts so much attention. Several million people attend the games, and hundreds of millions throughout the world watch them on television. The first recorded Olympic contest took place in the Stadium of Olympia in 776 BC. For many years the Olympics were for male contestants and for male spectators only. The only event in the first 13 Olympics was a footrace of about 180 meters

Why do we need morality

Why do we need morality?

Golding (1945). This piece of work is a good example of a society without rules are moral values. In this book a group of boys end up on a desert island and they do not obey the rules anymore. At first the boys are happy to be out of the adult world, but soon they face a total chaos. So they create some kind of system that only one may talk at a time and they also choose a leader for themselves (democratically). Their system fails as 2 boys start to compete over the leader position and also all the other boys will not fill tasks given to them, because they want to play and have fun. The outcome is worst then anyone could ever imagine. Golding shows that the devil is inside of all of us and we need morality and society rules to keep it from showing and to live together in peace. The boys on the desert island start to hunt pigs and find out that they enjoy killing. Which means that time by time they are losing their humanity.

The dials were to be thirty feet in diameter, the quarter chimes were to be struck on eight bells, and the hours were to be struck on a 14 ton bell. Barry invited Benjamin Lewis Vulliamy, a clockmaker of reputation, to submit a design and price for constructing such a clock. No doubt Vulliamy was pleased to be the clockmaker of choice for what was then to be the largest clock in the world, but other enterprising firms were not happy with the manner in which they had no opportunity to compete for the contract. Subsequently, the Astronomer Royal, Sir George Airy, was appointed as referee for the new clock and produced a specification in 1846. A key requirement of the specification was that the clock was to strike the first blow of each hour correct to one second in time. Tenders were invited and were received from three makers, Dent, Vulliamy and Whitehurst. Dent was Airy' s favourite and soon he had to make the clock himself. In 1852 Dent was awarded the contract.

agriculture revived the profitability of slavery and the political power of supporters of the South's "peculiar institution." American politics were driven by "King Cotton": maintaining the political balance between slave and free states and tariff protection for American industry. Cotton exports from the South boomed after the cotton gin's appearance (going from 180,000 pounds of total cotton production in 1793 to 93 million tons by 1810) while New England manufacturing companies struggled to compete against imported goods and clamored for tariff protection. The cotton interests led the country into war with Mexico. Cotton was a staple that could be stored for long periods and shipped long distances, unlike most agricultural food production. Paradoxically, the cotton gin, a labor-saving device, helped preserve the weakening arguments for slavery, since cheap (slave) labor was needed to pick cotton. Later, the 20th century invention

She challenges Lear’s authority, boldly initiates an affair with Edmund, and wrests military power away from her husband. Regan - Lear’s middle daughter and the wife of the duke of Cornwall. Regan is as ruthless as Goneril and as aggressive in all the same ways. In fact, it is difficult to think of any quality that distinguishes her from her sister. When they are not egging each other on to further acts of cruelty, they jealously compete for the same man, Edmund. Gloucester - A nobleman loyal to King Lear whose rank, earl, is below that of duke. The first thing we learn about Gloucester is that he is an adulterer, having fathered a bastard son, Edmund. His fate is in many ways parallel to that of Lear: he misjudges which of his children to trust. He appears weak and ineffectual in the early acts, when he is unable to prevent Lear from being turned out of his

At this point Hawk befriended the nine-year-old White at a local skatepark and mentored him, helping him turn pro in skateboarding at the age of 17. White has gone on to win many titles on his skateboard, most notably winning the overall title of Action Sports Tour Champion, as well as being the first person to compete in and win both the Summer and Winter X Games in two different sports. Following in his older brother's footsteps, White switched from skiing to snowboarding at age six, and by age seven he received his first sponsorship. production is energy intensive. According to the International Energy Forum Report, the targets set by the European and US government won't be achieved, but biofuels production will still increase significantly. It is projected to rise from today's 1% to 7%, in 2030. The highest rise in biofuels will take place in US, Europe, Asia and Brazil (IEF, 2010). 3. Competition with food production In the literature, there is a general consensus that biofuels do compete with food production, but the relationship is neither straightforward nor simple as there are other factors that influence the prices of food and its production (Fammini, 2008; AJanovic, 2010). As was described in by Fammini (2008), the 2007-08 food price crises had a number of factors playing for it. One of the underlying causes was the rising demand for food crops from developing countries, such as China and India. The demand has particularly grown for meat
