Indian thought is broadly divided as:
ASTIKA (has faith into Vedas) & NASTIK (Has no faith into Vedas)
ASTIKA has 6 systems of philosophy: simultaneously)
sankhya, vaiseshika, mimamsa, yoga, nyaya,
vedanta. NASTIK:
Buddhism, Jainism, Charvakaism
VEDANTA has two branches:
· ADVAITA (nondualism, Sankaracarya)& =denying God
DVAITA (dual in the sense that Soul and
the Lord are two)
· DVAITA: acintya bheda abheda
tattva (same and different
Within Vedanta there are 3 primary sources of authority:
SHRUTI ie Isopanishad it is heard from the direct source, the Lord - Vedas
SMRITI ie Bhagavad Gita it elaborates and comments on SHRUTI.
NYAYA ie Bhagavatam Vedanta Sutra
