Black Beauty

Chapters 1–5: Black Beauty spent his young life with his mother on Farmer Grey’s farm. Farmer Grey was a good, kind man and the horses had a good life. His mother told him that not all people were good and she gave him some advice: ‘Always be good so people will love you. Always work hard and do your best’. Black Beauty tried to follow this advice all his life. First, he went to live at Birtwick Park with Mr Gordon and his family, who treated their horses well. He became friends with two other horses, Merrylegs and Ginger. He was cared for by a groom called John Manly, who never used a whip. His wife gave him the name of Black Beauty. He learnt to carry a rider and pull a carriage. Chapters 6 – 8: The stable boy, James, got a better job with a nearby farmer so he was trained by the head groom. One day, when he drove the carriage led by Black Beauty, they nearly had an accident. Thanks to the clever horse, they avoided a broken bridge an...

Jane Eyre

It is a novel considered ahead of its time. In spite of the dark, brooding elements, it has a strong sense of right and wrong, of morality at its core. There are several Christian aspects underlying the plot that mold its character and essence. Jane Eyre is divided into 38 chapters; most editions are at least 400 pages long (although the preface and introduction on certain copies are liable to take up another 100). The original was published in three volumes, comprising chapters 1 to 15, 16 to 26, and 27 to 38. Brontë dedicated the novel's second edition to William Makepeace Thackeray. [edit] Plot summary [edit] Chapters 1-4: Jane's childhood at Gateshead Young Jane argues with her guardian Mrs. Reed of Gateshead. Illustration by F. H. Townsend. A ten-year-old orphan named Jane Eyre lives with her uncle's family, the Reeds. Jane's aunt, Sarah Reed, dislikes her intensely. When her uncle dies, her aunt and the three Reed children become abusive

Eclipse review

"Eclipse" (Twilight saga 3 book) by Stephenie Meyer - review of 2 chapters This book contains over 27 chapters and almost 600 pages. Every Twilight saga book is thicker than previous book. I read it in English because it isn't released in Estonian yet. Eclipse opens with Bella Swan and her boyfriend Edward reunited after their tortuous parting in New Moon. Bella's eventual transformation into a bloodsucking immortal is now guaranteed, yet all is not well in the drizzly town of Forks, Washington. Now Charlie - Bella's dad - hates Edward little bit because of all pain what he had brought to Bella

A group of Russian volunteers, including Vronsky, who does not plan to return alive, depart from Russia to fight in the Orthodox Serbian revolt that has broken out against the Turks. Meanwhile, amid the joys and fears of fatherhood, Levin no longer feels he lacks Christian faith; he decides to give his life its own meaning through acts of goodness. Part 1, Chapters 1-6 The first line of the book is one of the most famous in literature: "Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way." The line leads into a household crisis between a wife and husband, Dolly and Stiva, but also forecasts the issues that will arise throughout the rest of the book, all of them having to do with personal relationships and family structures: especially those of Stiva and Dolly, Anna and Karenin, and Anna and Count Vronsky

TRADERUN ANSWERS

EU accession criteria? Which are the fields that the ENP does not cover and only Copenhagen Criteria assesses? The status of a candidate and future membership are obtained through a long process of assuring compliance with EU rules and norms, and legal harmonization, making the EU the "locus of domestic policy-making and transnational relations for the entire region" Through a highly asymmetrical process, where the candidate countries have to internalize all the chapters of the non-negotiable acquis communitaire, the enlargement policy holds the powerful incentive of the membership and the effective tool of conditionality. Through regular reports and strategy papers, the EU keeps the track of developments in each candidate country and recommends closure and opening of acquis chapters. After all acquis chapters are closed and the candidate country complies with all the accession requirements, the membership is

''Dracula'' analüüs

The story continues when Van Helsing tries to enlighten others, what had happened and they all are trying to resolve the problem. One key to find the solution is dr Seward’s patient Renfield, who is under a spell of Dracula. Jonathan and Mina join them in their hunt for Dracula but discover later, that only Mina and Van Helsing are able to find him so they travel back to Transylvania. The story ends with a note from Jonathan, written seven years after. The novel has 27 chapters. All the chapters are journals of characters. Also the book has ten pages of notes which are explanations of different places, names and expressions. ‘’Dracula’’ has cathegorised under many different genres of literature – vampire literature, horror fiction, gothic novel and invasion literature. For me it is mostly horror fiction, although I find this more as a fantasy literature or thriller. I do not think there is something

economic interest. Since agriculture is growing really convivially, the emphasis is on changing from conventional agriculture to more efficient systems and practise. This book is very educational because it explains how is the best way to analyze the experimental results from intercropping and multiple cropping trials. Also offers a means for risk assessments. I chose this book because my family also is engaged to farm business and agriculture. This book has 293 pages which includes 16 chapters, it was first published in 2008, so it is quite new book. It was very interesting to read about because there were lots of themes and tips about how to cultivate our soil. I think that a lots of farmers could get help from this book. I want to emphasize this book topic about non-polluting agricultural alternatives to chemicals, because it is a big problem nowadays. About the author Birth Date: 1947

The Picture of Dorian Gray / Dorian Gray portree

He is a charming talker and a brilliant intellect. The climax occurs when Dorian kills Basil. He thinks that since Basil painted the portrait, that ruined Dorian's life, the painter should be punished for this. Evaluation I think that the writing was effective and definately the author achieved his purpose. Many people told me before reading this book, that they have never read a better book in their life. After first couple of chapters I thought we just have different tastes in books, as I usually do have, but the book was quite interesting in the end. Most of all I liked the plot, I think it was very well written and the author had good imagination. Also, the philosophy in this book was worth reading. Usually when you are in the middle of the book, you can predict what happens in the end. With this book it was different. I did not think it would end like that, so the end was a bit surprising and interesting for me.

George Orwell - Road to Wigan Pier

In summary Orwell says that socialism is a nearly impossible thing. MY OPINION This year I knew that I wanted to read G.Orwell for the Home reading book. When I was in the library I first took the book ,,1984". I had started to read it I found out that it had been translated into Estonian and it had been made into a movie. I knew that the ,,Animal Farm" is readable in Estonian too. I had no chance, but to choose ,,The Road to Wigan Pier". I first fought it was a novel, but after reading two chapters I found out it was an autobiography. But it was very fassinating to read about the life in United Kingdom in 1930s. And I really enjoyed reading about Orwells thoughts, his life and socialism. I got a lot smarter thanks to this book and it was really interesting to read.

savages who painted their faces, hunted and were willing to kill each other. For example in the third chapter all boys are still civilised and enjoy the beauty of the island when Simon finds this magical open place in the jungle that represents the innocence that still exists on the island. Then in chapter eight when Simon visits this jungle glade again he finds a sow's head on the stake there. The fact how this setting changed during five chapters is described in a quote from chapter eight ,,The other time the air had seemed to vibrate with heat; but now it threatened." Simon's secret place had turned from unearthy paradise into something terrifying and that also symbolised how the boys had become savages already. Without noticing the natural cruelty inside them developed, savagery instincts emerged and most of them stopped caring about civilisation.

Despite having tortured a squirrel in the woods, he admits that he fears becoming evil, and takes on the identity of Locke in order to influence events. When the bugger war ends, he ends the fighting on Earth through the Locke Proposal, and becomes Hegemon, basically ruling the world. Graff Although the character appears only at the beginning of the chapters and occasionally in the chapters as well, he is the main adult character in the novel. It is Graff who decides what will be done to Ender in order to shape him into a commander, and although he knows that this will put Ender through a lot of difficult situations, he says that, in the end, he will be Ender's friend. Merde Actually

that is what he thinks. Finally they still meet, because Alexa just runs late, like all the French do. It seems like a happy ending, but actually the trouble just begins, with Paul's bag and passport gone with the train. For me, it was an easy book to read, since it was really fascinating. Stephen Clarke writes in a way that people want to read: the style is close to every-day life speech and he really does understand how things are. In all the chapters there is a hidden message and some of the ideas are really useful for real life usage. I guess the whole message of this book is that one should always pursue its hopes and dreams and never give up. Since actually one has nothing to lose, but tons to win. Life is like a rollercoaster, with its ups and downs, but if there were not any downfalls then people would not notice the luck and happiness in their lives. In conclusion I can honestly say that I liked this book a lot

Well, after chapter one there'll be chapter two however, aren't we forgetting about something? Of cause we're not there are going to be lovely tests somewhere in the middle of the two chapters! They'll be including everything we've learned so far, and, it's just a hypothesis though, there is a slight chance that there's going to be a last-minute surprise in the test. Isn't that just fantastic? The classroom's air is going to filled with quiet sighs of furious students who'd already had seven tests during the week. They are begging for this surprise to be cancelled, but it will not happen miracles are left on fairy-tale's pages.

The Most Important Buildings in Lai Street in Tallinn

The aim of the report is to be helpful for the students of Tallinna Mustamäe College who study the history of Tallinn and would like to get additional information about Lai Street, as they need to pass the guide practice exam in form eleven. The report is divided into chapters so that each chapter deals with one of the important houses in Lai Street. In the beginning there are also two introductory chapters about Lai Street in general and the origin of the name "Lai". 3 Lai Street in general Lai Street is 520 m long and begins at a small green patch below the Toompea slope, where a graceful bronze statue of a Roe Deer by Jaan Koort (1883-1935), one of the best-known Estonian sculptors, has been standing for several decades. Analüüs Swifti kirjandusest inglise keeles

These two chapters highlight the kinds of commentary Swift makes throughout the novel. By describing a society that chooses its highest officials with silly competitions like seeing who can jump the highest on a tightrope, Swift is poking fun at the way officials are chosen in England. He is also commenting on the disturbing trend of politicians who are willing to do whatever it takes to gain favour in the courtincluding humiliating themselves. The danger of ambition is also figured here; jumping badly can lead to death. Having Gulliver stand with his legs apart so that the Lilliputian armies can walk through is also a ridiculous idea. It is a comment on the pomp and circumstance of English armies. To Swift it seems that armies are often more concerned with looking impressive than with being impressive. This scene might also be an allusion to the Colossus of Rhodes, described in Julius Caesar by Shakespeare as a largerthanlife ...

Dashwood and then Henry, but they then carry on dramatically about having to leave Norland and move to the smaller cottage. Before departing, Marianne wanders the grounds of Norland uttering a histrionic elegy: "Dear, dear Norland... Oh! happy house... And you, ye well-known trees!" Elinor, however, experiences a far more subdued depression--though she is leaving behind not just her home but also a man she has grown to deeply care for and admire. The early chapters also display the wry irony for which Austen is so famous as a novelist. She is unsparingly critical of the characters she dislikes, but conveys her criticism with a pointed subtlety, which makes it all the more forceful. For example, in the opening chapter, Austen sketches the character of John Dashwood in three masterful sentences, achieving a biting acerbity: the author begins elliptically with a double negative, only slyly to refute it: "He was not an ill-disposed young man,

He has been called "English literature's performing flea", a derogatory description that Wodehouse cherished and adopted as the title of his autobiography. Best known today for the Jeeves and Blandings Castle novels and short stories, Wodehouse was also a talented playwright and lyricist who was part author and writer of fifteen plays and of 250 lyrics for some thirty musical comedies. Wodehouse took a modest attitude to his own works. In Over Seventy (1957) he wrote: "I go in for what is known in the trade as 'light writing' and those who do that humorists they are sometimes called are looked down upon by the intelligentsia and sneered at." Wodehouse's characters are often eccentric, with peculiar attachments, such as to newts (Gussie Fink-Nottle) or socks (Archibald Mulliner). His "ment...

Maailmausundite statistika 3 - prognoos

rates and rising life expectancies in particular countries. The projections are what will occur if the current data are accurate and current trends continue. But many events – scientific discoveries, armed conflicts, social movements, political upheavals, natural disasters and changing economic conditions, to name just a few – can shift demographic trends in unforeseen ways. That is why the projections are limited to a 40-year time frame, and subsequent chapters of this report try to give a sense of how much difference it could make if key assumptions were different. For example, China’s 1.3 billion people (as of 2010) loom very large in global trends. At present, about 5% of China’s population is estimated to be Christian, and more than 50% is religiously unaffiliated. Because reliable figures on religious switching in China are not available, the projections do not contain any forecast for conversions in the world’s most populous country

ISLAM

ISLAM Islam is a monotheistic and Abrahamic religion articulated by the Koran, a book considered by its adherents to be the verbatim word of God. By the teachings and normative example of Muhhamad, considered by them to be the last prophet of God. An adherent of Islam is called Muslim. Muslims believe that God is one and incomparable and the purpose of existence is to worship God. Muslims are beliving that Islam is the complete and universal version of a primordial faith that was revealed before many times throughout the world, including notably through Noah, Adam, Abraham, Jesus and Moses, whom they consider prophets. They belive that the previous messages and revelations have been partially misinterpreted or alerted over time, but consider the Arabic Koran to be both the unalerted and the final revelation of God. Religious concepts and practices include the five pillars of Islam, which are ba...

by the facts. Author found out that most certan proofs for multiversum are simple widely known things like gravitation, general relativity and the fact that universe is expanding. These are also main facts that are used to explain different versions of mulitversums. As it turned out, it's difficult to say who was the first person who came up with the idea of multiuniversums. Apparently, Huge Everette III was one of them. The paper falls into nine chapters. At first author describes the following research, then explains theoretical background in three chapters and in next four chapters autor shows answers, tells what the results were and shows where the information come from. Last chapter is about extras. The main limitation of all explanations is that no one is able to prove these theories. A theory is not proven until mathematics and observatiouns match perfectly. Theory is not proven, but not also wrong

g., in data collection and processing). Biemer and Lyberg (2003) group errors in sampling error and nonsampling error. Sampling error is due to selecting a sample instead of studying the whole population. Nonsampling errors are due to mistakes and/or system deficiencies, and include all errors that can be made during data collection and data processing, such as coverage, nonresponse, measurement, and coding error (see also Lyberg & Biemer, Chapter 22). In the ensuing chapters of this handbook we provide concrete tools to incorporate quality when designing a survey. The purpose of this chapter is to sensitize the reader to the importance of designing for quality and to introduce the methodological and statistical principles that play a key 5 role in designing sound quality surveys.
