Kidnapped chapter 1 sisukokkuvõtte Chapter 1 In June 1751 David Balfour (peategelane) left his fathers house in Essendean for the last time. Mr Campbell (peategelase sõber) was waiting for him. Mr Campbell asked: ,,Are you sorry to leave Essendean?" David replied: ,,I don´t know, sir, because I don´t know where i´m going or what will happen to me. I´ve been very happy in Essendean but I´ve never been anywhere else. My mother and father are dead now and I´m going to find my future." Mr Campbell told David that his father has given him a letter before he died. It was his inheritance. David´s father wanted him to go to the House of Shaws, near Edinburgh. David was surprised, because he didn´t know anything about the House of Shaws. Mr Campbell said goodbye and David started to go to the House of Shaws. On the morning of the second day, David came to the top of a hill. Below him, he saw the city of Edinb...

Eclipse Chapter 2 As Bella attempts come to terms with both the end of her high school career and her chosen future, her friends are all busily excited with preparations for graduation. In the middle of these excited discussions Alice Cullen receives a vision of the future. But as Bella tries to discover the content of that vision, she finds her attempts being artfully dodged by both Alice and Edward. After returning home that afternoon, Bella enjoys time with Edward and emails her mother Renee. During this exchange Edward finds the stereo Bella received as a birthday gift from Emmett, Rosalie and Jasper in the bottom of Bella's closet. After vowing to replace it before anyone discovers its current condition, he suggests celebrating Bella's new found freedom with a trip to Florida, by using the airline tickets she received as a gift from Carlisle and Esme for her birthday. Eclipse first chapter- kokkuvõte

Summary: After receiving a heart wrenching note from best friend and werewolf Jacob Black, Bella seems more determined than ever to mend their broken friendship. Charlie has decided to release Bella from her punishment under the condition that she not neglect her other friendships, particularly that of Jacob Black's. Bella agrees, grateful for the freedoms this will give her to both spend time with Edward, and attempt to visit Jacob. Her freedom doesn't include a visit to the nearby city of Seattle Washington, which is currently the setting for a rash of serial killings that are Edward claims are the work of a vampire. After Edward arrives for his typical evening visit the two spend time filling out college applications and revealing, much to Charlie's dismay, that both have been accepted to Alaska University. While pondering the wildlife populations of both Alaska and Antarctica, Bella gently broaches the subject of a visit to La Push....

TWILIGHT-CHAPTER THREE-PHENOMENON

Summary: When Bella gets up to go to school she discovers that the temperature has dropped overnight, and now the rain slicked environment has turned into an ice covered one. She's grateful and touched that Charlie thought to plan ahead. He put chains on her tires so she could drive to school safely. She muses that she's not used to people taking care of her like that. No sooner than Bella parks her truck next to a tan car in the school parking lot she notices two things: 1) the all the Cullen and Hale students are standing across the parking lot, in particular Edward is staring at her in dismay, 2) Tyler Crowley has lost control of his van and it is careening toward her faster than she can get away. The next thing Bella knows, Edward knocks her to the ground, out of the way of the Tyler's van. She is under the impression that he physically pushed the van off her not once, but twice. At the hospital Tyler can't stop apologizing to bo...

Chapter Thirteen – Newborn

Chapter Thirteen Newborn Once Bella realizes that Jasper's arms are covered in scars from vampire bites, he tells her his history. He explains that vampires live differently in the south, only coming out at night and fighting each other for control of territories with larger human populations so that they won't have any competition in feeding. He tells the story of a young vampire named Benito that began using armies of wild, uncontrolled newborns to dispatch rival covens. These newborns destroyed each other as often as their targets, and had to be replaced. The other covens had to form their own newborn armies to counter Benito. The human population was also drastically reduced during the fighting, and eventually, the Volturi stepped in. The entire Volturi guard came from Italy and annihilated all the vampires found with newborns, virtually emptying the region of vampires for a time. The ones that survived began to stake claims aga...

Eclipse fifth chapter (Imprint)

Eclipse Chapter 5, Imprint The chapter opens with Jacob and Bella still at La Push. There is an awkward silence between them and Bella begins to ask about the others. Jacob confirms that Quil has indeed phased and is ecstatic about being a wolf. Jacob says that most of the others are happy as well except for him and Sam. Sam has had plenty of time to get over everything so it is really just Jacob that is the cry baby. Bella asks about Sam's story and Jacob warns her that it is long and strange. Jacob begins by telling Bella that Sam had it the hardest because he was first and didn't know what was going on. Once the elders discussed with him what had happened, he waited for the others to come of age. At the time of the change Sam was in love and dating Leah Clearwater. All that changed when Leah's cousin Emily visited. When Sam saw Emily it was love at first site, soul mates. Sam has to live with letting down Leah and see the anger an...

Jacob, who had apparently been calling frequently that day, called again. Confused at the strange conversation she just had with Jacob, Bella begins to cook for Charlie and try to decipher the meaning behind Jacobs words. Moments later, Bella theorizes that Jacob was checking up on her to see if she had run off to be "changed". The following day Bella is met with a surprise visitor at school. Jacob has come to relay a message to the Cullen family. In doing so, Edward is forced to reveal his real reason for taking Bella away for the weekend; Victoria is back. TWILIGHT-CHAPTER TWO-OPEN BOOK

Summary: It's Bella's second day at her new school and while it is a better day in some ways, in others it is much worse. Mike continues to be very friendly, much to Eric's displeasure, which Bella finds flattering, however, she is not interested in Mike and realises she will have to do something about his over-friendly behaviour. Bella is also feeling more confident because she recognises more faces and people are looking at her less than the day before something that, for Bella, is very important. Her day gets worse when she gives the wrong answer in Trig and has to play Volley-ball ending up hitting her team mate on the head with the ball giving us further proof of her clumsy nature. However, the worst part of this second day is that Edward Cullen is not in school and for some reason Bella can't stop thinking about him and his behaviour of the previous day. She feels nervous and uncomfortable, waiting to see if he is in schoo...

She is leaving her mother and stepfather's home in Phoenix, Arizona to live with her father in Forks, Washington. She feels she needs to give her mother, Renee, space to be with her new husband, Phil, who is a minor league baseball ballplayer. She's apprehensive about moving in with her dad, Charlie, who is the town's sheriff. Up until now, they have only ever spent parts of summers together. Bella hasn't been to Forks in three years. Forks couldn't be more different than sunny, metropolitan Phoenix if it tried. The weather is cool, overcast, and clammy most days. Forks High School, where Bella is to start school the following day only has 358 students including Bella. Charlie picks Bella up at the Port Angles airport. wedding. When Jacob wakes up, he is angry with himself for wasting his time with her by sleeping. He takes her outside to clear his head and tells her that although he wanted to handle this differently, he has run out of time. He needs her to know he is in love with her. He acknowledges that she doesn't feel the same way, but he wants her to realize she has other options besides becoming a vampire. *Bella mentions in the chapter that it feels more like February than May. As in most of Eclipse, there is some inconsistency in the time-line due to the fact that Stephenie worked off of a 2007 calendar when the year in the book was really 2006.

The deadline agreed for Carlisle to change her into a vampire is almost upon her -- and she realizes in a panic that she isn't ready to leave her human life behind, even though it's what she's wanted more than anything. Without her realizing it, the time for preparing herself has slipped away. Alerted by Bella's stricken silence on the way home, Edward drags an admission out of her that she is isn't really ready, but Bella insists that the combined threat from Victoria, the Volturi, and the recent mysterious intruder in her room makes it too dangerous to postpone her transformation. Edward insists that he won't let her go through with this until she feels safe and can freely decide what she really wants. None of the Cullens had a choice about ...

Eclipse 11th chapter (legends) - kokkuvõte

Chapter Eleven Legends Bella accompanies Jacob to a council meeting of the elders of the tribe, where she sees the rest of the pack, who welcome her as a friend. She is surprised to find Sue Clearwater and her two children, Seth and Leah, at the bonfire as well, and surmises that they must now also be in on the secret. After a lighthearted meal, Bella realizes it's getting late and she needs to go home, but Jacob quickly lets her know the night is for more than fun. The elders then tell the stories of the pack's origins and legends that have been passed down for generations. While Emily takes notes, Billy tells the story of how the Quileutes came to be werewolves. They were originally spirit warriors, able to leave their bodies to defend their tribe, but when the last great chief, Taha Aki, merged his spirit with that of a wolf after Utlapa, a traitorous warrior, stole his body, the werewolves were created. They discovered that as lo...

1. Describe Jonas' family Jonas' family, like all other families in the community, includes a caring mother and father and two children -- one male child and one female child. Jonas' mother has an important job with the Department of Justice, and his father has a job as a Nurturer, taking care of newborns. Jonas has one younger sister, Lily. His family seems ideal. Each morning, they discuss their dreams that they had the previous night; during the evening meal, they share feelings about the events of the day, comforting and supporting each other according to the rules of the community. 2. What is the family's nightly ritual? It is a required ritual in which all family members have to tell how they were feeling that day. 3. Why had Lily been angry? Lily goes first by explaining the anger that she felt today when someone from a visiting group of Sevens, or seven-year-olds, did not obey the rules about waiting in line. She compares the bo...

Chapter Fifteen Wager Jacob waits for Bella to respond to his declaration of love, but she can't think of anything to say. She stutters and tries to leave, but Jacob pulls her back attempting to explain that he knows how she's feeling. He asks her point blank if she wants him to go away and never see her again. Bella admits that she wouldn't want that. She says she misses Jacob when he's not around, but only when he's happy. She goes on to say it's because he's like family, and that she only loves him... and is not in love with him. Jacob is pleased enough by this, and says he'll "stick around." Bella feels uncomfortable, especially when Jacob affectionately touches and caresses her. She asks him to behave himself, but Jacob replies that she'll have to take him or leave him the way he is, since he will not change his behavior claiming Edward is no longer her whole life. He wants Bella to understand that Edward isn't her only choice....

Chapter Eighteen Instruction As Alice's graduation party ends, Bella is anxious that Jacob's pack has aligned themselves with the Cullens against the newborns. Everyone reassures Bella there is no danger but she remains worried, agonizing over why her bad luck continually puts other people in harm's way. The wolves and the vampires intend to meet for a training session at 3:00 AM. Bella tells Edward she wants to accompany him. Edward notes that she is tired and says he doesn't want her present for any tensions between the two groups if the training experiment does not go well, but she insists. Ensured that Charlie is asleep for the night, Bella and Edward wait in her bedroom for the time to pass. Bella thinks seriously about forming a plan to keep her bad luck from affecting others. Eclipse, Chapter Ninteen – Selfish kokkuvõte

Chapter Ninteen Selfish After staying out all night to watch the Cullens' battle exercises, Bella sleeps late into the following afternoon. When she wakes, Edward reminds her that she could -- and should -- have stayed behind, but she insists that she is now part of the family and should be included. While she's getting breakfast, Edward notices Jake's wolf charm dangling from Bella's wrist. He asks to see it and for a fleeting instant Bella worries he might break it. But he only points out the inequity: Jake is allowed to give her presents and he is not. Bella shrugs and says that Edward has already given her more than she could ever deserve: himself. Each reflects for a moment on the other's ridiculous inability to see themselves clearly. Edward asks if she would accept a charm from him too. Nothing expensive: a hand-me-down. Bella agrees, relieved that his reaction was no worse. When Alice calls Edward, Bella nervously guesses t...

Alice makes a comment about the thief followed by a comment about the activity in Seattle. Hearing the two placed together like that makes something click in Bella's brain. She realizes that the two situations the thief in her room and the newborn vampires in Seattle are related. She also figures out that the thief only broke into her house as a test to see how easy it was to get in and that he only stole things with her scent on them so that others could find her. Determined to keep the information from Edward, Alice darts off just as Edward arrives to go with Bella to the graduation ceremony. At the ceremony, Edward and Bella are separated. Bella listens to Jessica ramble on and on about their time in school. The ceremony goes rather quickly an...

Even a modest detached house, surrounded by garden, gives the rerequired suggestion of rural life. Most people would be happy to live in a cottage, and if this is a thatched cottage so much the better. Most people try to avoid living in blocks of flats. Flats, they feel, provide the least amount of privacy. The people who live in flats are those who cannot afford to live anywhere else. The dislike of living in flats is very strong despite of that they are very comfortable. People said they felt cut off from the world all those floors up. Sampling error is due to selecting a sample instead of studying the whole population. Nonsampling errors are due to mistakes and/or system deficiencies, and include all errors that can be made during data collection and data processing, such as coverage, nonresponse, measurement, and coding error (see also Lyberg & Biemer, Chapter 22). In the ensuing chapters of this handbook we provide concrete tools to incorporate quality when designing a survey. The purpose of this chapter is to sensitize the reader to the importance of designing for quality and to introduce the methodological and statistical principles that play a key 5 role in designing sound quality surveys.

Oliver twist - kokkuvõte

Chapter1: An unknown woman was found lying in the street and brought into the workhouse. She delivered a sickly child who had trouble breathing. The woman, without a word of who she was, died and left her new born boy, Oliver, to the drunken nurse that stood by. Chapter2: The State gave Oliver to Mrs. Mann who housed a number of orphaned children. Mrs. Mann took a large portion of the money given to her by the authorities for each child's food so Oliver grew up small and malnourished. On his ninth birthday, the town beadle, Mr. Bumble, came to collect Oliver and take him to the board for an interview. They told him he was to live with other wards of the state to become educated and learn a trade. Oliver did not mind this, but soon after he arrived, the state decided to implement a plan that would save money by feeding the people very little. After a time on this diet, the boys at the table chose Oliver to go ask the head cook for more ...

All the world's a puzzle;arutlev kirjand

books. They have the power to change the world up-side down. The English textbook given to us this year is something we must carefully treasure after all, there are going to be more people next year either to praise or suffer from it. But not the emotions count at the moment, the future does we must all learn from this wonderful book that wit is not easily gained, however once it's collected, it'll be never lost again. The first chapter includes three specially chosen units. Unit one includes reading about the UK, learning how to form questions, listening, some vocabulary exercises, monologue and, of course, an `extra word exercise' about Ireland. The sweetest part will be probably the last one since I used to like the game odd-man-out in middle school. We often played it, as well as Bingo and Puzzle, but finding a word lost in a bizarre of difficultly read context was still my favourite! I have high expectations for it.

“You can never go home again“ Lord of the flies

quite good reasons for that. The experience on the island changed all of them and when they were finally rescued everyone went home as sort of different persons. In the beginning when boys had just discovered that they are alone in this paradise island they were all innocent and longed for rescue but towards the end they gradually turned into savages who painted their faces, hunted and were willing to kill each other. For example in the third chapter all boys are still civilised and enjoy the beauty of the island when Simon finds this magical open place in the jungle that represents the innocence that still exists on the island. Then in chapter eight when Simon visits this jungle glade again he finds a sow's head on the stake there. The fact how this setting changed during five chapters is described in a quote from chapter eight ,,The other time the air had seemed to vibrate with heat; but now it threatened

Discuss the representation of the generation of fathers in Turgenev’s novel “Fathers and Sons”

marrying Masha despite his parents will, and found joy in a love-filled marriage. This can be somewhat descriptive of the ideals represented by the gentry romanticism, aesthetic virtues, sentimentality. Also noticeable in this scene is the use of diminutive forms when portraying Nikolai -" ", " " that belittle Nikolai as a serious man and portray that the owner is "not a part of the adult world" (Bialyi 1968:13). The portrayal of rather clumsy and non-adult continues in Chapter 4 where Nikolai " ". All in all, the first impression of the older generation is rather naïve, yet unserious. As chapter 3 embarks, the koliaska moves towards the poorly managed Kirsanov estate, Marino, which is a reflection of Nikolai's lack of practical and organizational abilities. Nikolai himself says that " ." And truly, there is no improvement - there's " , ... , , - , ". The peasantry is poor and disobedient " "

from bar to bar and drinking heavily at each, his life filled with purposeless debauchery. He demonstrates the capacity to be extremely cruel, especially toward Cohn. His insecurities about his masculinity are typical of the anxieties that many members of the Lost Generation felt. Yet, in some important ways, Jake differs from those around him. He seems aware of the fruitlessness of the Lost Generation's way of life. He tells Cohn in Chapter II: "You can't get away from yourself by moving from one place to another." Moreover, he recognizes the frequent cruelty of the behavior in which he and his friends engage. Most important, perhaps, he acknowledges, if only indirectly, the pain that his war injury and his unrequited love for Brett cause him. However, though Jake does perceive the problems in his life, he seems either unwilling or unable to remedy them. Though he understands the dilemma of the Lost

The Picture of Dorian Gray / Dorian Gray portree

The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde (1854-1900) Introduction The Picture of Dorian Gray came out in 1891, in Estonian 1929. It is the only published novel written by Oscar Wilde and also considered as a classic gothic horror fiction with a little bit of philosophy in it. I decided to read this book in Estonian, because I have two books in this language available at home. The book I read was published by Eesti Päevaleht in 2007 and it consists of 184 pages. The story is centred on Dorian Gray, a young man of great beauty and on his portrait, painted by Basil Hallward. From my point of view, I think that Wilde wanted to teach us a lesson about being too conceited and having such a high opinion of oneself. It is well known that nobody gets away without punishment. The Body The book tells the story of how a friend of Dorian, the artist Basil...

Paul Graham, “Hackers

A Summary In “Hackers & Painters, Paul Graham, computer science expert and painter, explains examines what motivates computer programmers to do what they do, as well as attempt to answer many of the questions that have arisen with computers. He explains the word “hacker” has more than the one definition most of us are familiar with. The hackers who Paul Graham refers to throughout the book are the good computer programmers who have made all that we have real. Graham's first chapter, "Why Nerds Are Unpopular," tries to explain why smart kids are at the bottom of the food chain in high school and what their priorities are. While writing about nerds, Graham talks about his own progress to become computer scientist and painter. He explains the similarities between painters and computer hackers, including the desire to make existing things better.

"Ender's game"

fiction books, and nonfiction, such as articles on computer technology. Orson Scott Card in 2008 and when he was younger. The Setting The novel starts off on Earth, with scenes at the school and the Wiggin home. Little attention is given to the details of this setting, not even the name of the city, and so it comes across as a standard American neighborhood. A shuttle is used as a background in the fourth chapter. It has small narrow corridors and the walls of the rooms were carpeted as floors. The importance of the shuttle is that Ender learned something about orientation in zero gravity and that knowledge helped him a lot later. Most of the time passes in Battle School, which is composed of army barracks with rows of bunk beds; dining halls one for soldiers and one for commanders, with scoreboards decorating both; the game room, with various video games for the children to play; battlerooms, where

Maailmausundite statistika 3 - prognoos

In the United States, for example, surveys find that some people who were raised with no religious affiliation have switched to become Christians, while some who grew up as Christians have switched to become unaffiliated. These types of patterns are projected to continue as future generations come of age. (For more details on how and where switching was modeled, see the Methodology. For alternative growth scenarios involving either switching in additional countries or no switching at all, see Chapter 1.) Over the coming decades, Christians are expected to experience the largest net losses from switching. Globally, about 40 million people are projected to switch into Christianity, while 106 million are projected to leave, with most joining the ranks of the religiously unaffiliated. (See chart above.) All told, the unaffiliated are expected to add 97 million people

Mascardo et al. focused on the activities, but not always people decide to go somewhere only based on the activities the destination has to offer.
