Bridget Jone's Diary
"Bridget Jones's Diary" is a novel about a single woman facing every day life in
Britain. Bridget is an assistant at a London book publisher. She is a thirty-something
woman, with her own flat and a group of supportive friends. She has man problems,
weight problems, mother problems, and career problems. She is afraid of living
alone and that when she dies alone she will be eaten by dogs because nobody will
find her for months!
The story starts when Bridget goes home for the Christmas holidays and her mother
tries yet again to fix her up with some man. This time it's the humourless lawyer,
Mark, who wears very weird clothes. After a disastrous first meeting with Mark,
Bridget returns to London with a list of New Year resolutions. She starts a diary and
starts to record all the disappointments in her life. Back in the publishing office where
she works, Bridget starts flirting with her boss Daniel Cleaver.
After some days she falls in love...
