CLIMATIC
CONDITIONS
Temperature
Insects in general have a comparatively small range of temperature within they
are most active.
For most species it`s between 10°C to 35°C.
But there are exceptions
Hymenopterous parasites, flatheaded and
roundheaded bark borers.
Melanophila consputa Lec.
Western pine beetle
Dendroctonus brevicomis
Moisture
Forest insects are affected directly by moisture and indirectly by its effect upon
their host
Light
Light plays an important part in regulating the activities of various insects.
Trees exposed to the full sunlight are more susceptible to attack by certain
flatheaded borers.
Many moths are strongly attracted to light.
