Both sides of Chinese government regard Tibet as part of China.
Currently, Beijing and the Government of Tibet in Exile disagree over when Tibet became a
part of China, and whether the incorporation into China of Tibet is legitimate according to
international law. Since what constitutes Tibet is a matter of much debate neither its size nor
population are simple matters of fact, due to various entities claiming differing parts of the
area as a Tibetan region.
Tibet's names has been: Bautai, Bod.
The Tibetan language is generally classified as a Tibeto-Burman language of the Sino-
Tibetan language family although the boundaries between 'Tibetan' and certain other
Himalayan languages can be unclear.
Geography
Traditionally, Western (European and American) sources have regarded Tibet as part of
Central Asia; today's maps show a trend toward considering all of modern China, including
Tibet, to be part of East Asia. Some academic institutions also include Tibet in their South
annaabi.ee
