for the jubilee edition of Kalevipoeg are stark, to the point and stylish. The awakened
consciousness in the past of the nation supports Juhan Liiv’s axiom: “One who does not

nationalism aroused concern about what features create a nation. The attention of
creative artists was fixed on the character, attitude, views and desires of the Estonian
