School system in the USA

School system in the USA Education in the United States is provided by government. Each of the 50 states has its own laws regulating education. Children start school at the age of 5 or 6 and continue until the age of 18. Primary or grade school starts from the first grade up to the sixth grade. Then students attend middle school also called junior high school for three years. After middle school, students attend secondary schools, which are called "high schools" from ninth to twelfth grades. The idea of secondary school is to get a high school diploma. Students should take on average 17 or over 20 units during their studies. Public schools are free of charge and available for everybody. To which school a child attends is determined by where they live. Primary school American children start school at the age of five. The first year at school is called kindergarten

How chlidren are divided by age in USA and Estonia? The American school year traditionally begins in August or September, after the traditional summer recess, which is three months long. As well in Estonia. School year usually ends in may or june. First difference between Estonian school system and USA's is that children attend school at the age of 5-6, but in Estonia children go to school at the age of 7-8. Before going to school

Letter of application for a language course

Letter of application for a language course I study humanities at Pelgulinna Gymnasium, studying humanities at my school requires fluency in English. I love studying in English, hence, I would like to attend a university, where all the courses are taught in English. Therefore I would like to attend this university because of the English-speaking environment. Do beauty contests serve a purpose in present society

Different people are good at different things. Some people are excellent swimmers, some play baseball, some can draw, sing, dance or are extremely smart. But then there are also people whose talent is to be unbelieveably beautiful. Everybody wants to be the best at what they like to do. For developing people attend competitions. Some of the competitions can be useful for bigger amount of people than only for them who compeed COMPETITORS ON SEE SÕNA. For example smart people try to create a new cure for some scary illness. The winner manages to do that and everybody is happy and there are more healthy people in the world. But then there are also sports competitions which are good for entertainment but thereARE no actual benefits coming from them

Truancy in school – individual responsibility

teachers or the subjects that they are taught. They tend think that they won't need those subjects in their future life. Some children are just lazy and irresponsible. Also one serious reason is bullying. Bad relationships between the classmates make students to skip the classes. People, no matter how old they are should learn to take responsibility for their actions. However it does not refer to the small children who attend the primary school but they usually do not skip. The ones that do skip are mostly the students of the secondary and high school who are definitely old enough to take responsibility for their actions. If they think that they are already smart enough and do not need to study anymore then it is their choice and their parents should not be punished for their children making that decision. There can be many reasons why parents cannot cope with their children

Should class attendance be mandatory for university students?

optional. While most people can agree on the necessity of class attendance in elementary, as well as secondary school being obligatory, then opinions on required class attendance at university are quite divided. Both two alternatives have their respective up- and downsides but all aspects considered, which is more beneficial? To start off, the students’ chosen specialty usually reflects their interests which means that said students, in fact, want to attend classes. In this case, it seems unnecessary to make classes mandatory as it will be more time consuming and virtually even pointless for them to explain their reason for absence. After all, it is relatively common that when students take interest in a subject, it is highly unlikely they will deliberately miss a class. Regardless of classes being enjoyable to students, there are always some exceptions. For instance, the lack of motivation is quite a frequent occurrence among university students

The good and bad points of working and going to school.

The good and bad points of working and going to school at the same time Everyone has the right to the higher education, but for some people it`s more difficult than to the others. To leave your parents` home for the first time brings a lot of unexpected outgoings. Students have a issues with the payment of rent and utility bills and they need to go to the work and attend college at the same time. Working and going to school at the same time has good and bad points. The good points of it are certainly the new and intrestings experiences. Students get used to the pressure and studying to handle the stress. The bad points of it are that some people can`t handle the pressure. Students have no time to study and forgot that the first priority have to be studying. I strongly belive that stundying and working at the same time isn`t that bad

Dear social worker

Dear social worker I am writing because of my concern about my elderly neighbor. She is a really friendly 80-year old lady but she is not able to do everyday jobs to live normal life. I have helped her to cope with everyday life but next year I will leave to other city to attend university and I think she is not able to continue without any help. Usually after school I go and visit her to ask if she needs something from shop or pharmacy. She also has problems using her mobile phone to call her friends or healthcare persons, which I also has helped her to do. Once a week I have helped her with cleaning her apartment. Sometimes when I visit her I have seen that she just needs to talk to somebody to feel happy. I have tried to help her as much as possible.

Letter of Protest

Dear Mr Roberts I am writing to express my concern about the closing of the art studio and to bring out a couple of reasons why the art studio should be left open. First of all, the teachers of the studio are offering to tutor many possible artists. That way the new skills are guaranteed to be learned. In Addition, the studio is located in an easily accessible area and it is open 24 hours a day, so that students from all over the city can attend the art department anytime they want. Furthermore, young talents can exhibit their creations in the studio. Also, there are many necessary facilities that can be used in various situations, such as having an art exhibition, where all the students can show their greatest masterpieces. To sum up, it is believed that the art studio is extremely important to many young artists. Therefore we are ready to put our foot down and do not hesitate to organize a protest march against closing the studio

Two holidays in the UK

There are side-shows, fairground rides, stalls, food and drink, and a concert in the evening. The Floral Dance always takes place on the 8th of May, except when that falls on a Sunday or Monday, when the Dance is held on the previous Saturday. The Helston Floral Dance is one of the oldest surviving customs in the Country, and is a festival to celebrate the coming of spring. In the UK are many interesting and different holidays and I think that to attend in these holidays may be very interesting and entertaining.

Where would you prefer to live and why?

Where would you prefer to live and why? I would prefer to live in a big city instead of a village or a small town. For example Tallinn, London, New York or Paris. To start with, I would like to live in a big city because of its advantages. Big cities usually have more opportunities to spend your day and night. There are cinemas, coffee shops, theatres, shopping centres, libraries and night clubs. Although you need money to attend different exhibitions and shows big city also offers you free activities. Secondly, there are lots of banks, company offices and factories where people can work. That is the second reason I think big city life is better than a life in a small village. Last but not least, people usually think that they would not like to live in a big city because there are too many people there and they would feel suffocated. But there are areas outside the centre of the town where people live.

Love medicine

Loss of a cultural identity and Native American spirituality characterizes and separates the two generations in Love Medicine: “They gave you worthless land to start with and then they chopped it out from under your feet. They took your kids away and stuffed the English language in their mouth.” The generations that Erdrich covers experience that loss of culture. The youngest family members (or, perhaps those who attend American schools) are socialized in an American tradition rather than a Native American tradition. With each passing of a generation, vital knowledge of the culture seems to be lost. I think i have more emphaty now. I would recommend this book to people who doesnt have an empathy and also to young people who are still learning how to choose people to trust. I would like to read more novels from this autor because author has written this book in very interesting sentences and that

Different lectures started after the sixth lesson. There were more lectures, but unfortunately I couldn't attend them all. The themes of lectures were very interesting. Firstly, the lecture that was carried out by our local general practitioner. She talked about health in general and about the right diet. They showed us how to measure blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol. For me it was hard to focus on the lecture, because all the activities caused a lot of noise and it was hard to listen to the doctor. In my opinion the lecture was very instructive and educational.

Stress in the lives of young people today

Stress in the lives of young people today A lot of young people nowadays stress about various number of things. Whether it’s grades in school, appearance, relationships or future life in general, they all worry young people and impact their everyday life. One of the biggest stress factors are probably school, grades and future. Often students find themselves lacking knowledge to pass a subject or are too lazy to attend classes at all. This leads to a big amount of stress which they only have themselves to blame for. The best way to avoid this kind of stress would be studying hard and attending all classes. Young people also stress about the future a lot, they’re not sure where to study next or what to study. They’re also not sure whether they’re able to live an independent life or find a decent job. I think the second stress factor in the lives of young people today are relationships

Etiquette in America

· .Do not be late for a dinner party. Arrive within 5 to 15 minutes after the time on the invitation. Never arrive before the time you were invited.
