Resume (conception of studying and teaching in university)

Resume Students approaches to learning and teachers approaches to teaching in higher education. Kristina Tairova HUM-IK-I NARVA 2014 Approaches to studying in higher education Research, carried out in Great Britain and Sweden in 1970 identified only three dominant approaches to study. ·A deep approach (understanding the meaning of materials and in my oppinion this approach includes additional studies, very serious way of learning) ·a surface approach (memorising the course materials, the most common approach) ·and the last one, a strategic approach (only grades make sense) But the same student can adopt different approaches, It depends on different things, such as personal interest, teacher, tasks. What is the best age to be?

What is the best age to be? The question we all may ask ourselves time and time again. What is the best age to be? In my opinion there is not a best age and because of that is a question that will always be left unanswered. The life span approach emphasizes developmental change is throughout adulthood as well as childhood. As a 18 year old female I cannot really choose a specific age group that would be best in the life in every aspect, because I have not yet reached certain age periods of my life span development. All ages have great and bad things. When you are a child your freedom is limited and it mostly depends on your parents´ mood at that time. Some examples like where you have to be home at 9

economic activity, generally assessed yearly or quarterly. The GNP equals the gross domestic product plus income earned by domestic residents through foreign investments minus the income earned by foreign investors in the domestic market. Gross Domestic Product GDP can be determined in three ways, all of which should in principle give the same result. · They are the product (or output) approach, the income approach, and the expenditure approach. The most direct of the three is the product approach, which sums the outputs of every class of enterprise to arrive at the total. The expenditure approach works on the principle that all of the product must be bought by somebody, therefore the value of the total product must be equal to people's total expenditures in buying things. The income approach works on the principle that the incomes of the productive factors

Pessimism vs optimism

‘population-resources’ debate Malthus Task: View figure 13.57 (page 378 of Waugh). Draw the graph and discuss. Malthus believed that there was a finite optimum population in relation to food supply and that an increase beyond that point would lead to a decline in living standards and to war, famine and disease.  An increase in the population above the optimum limit would therefore lead to war, famine and disease. A PESSIMISTIC approach  Thomas Malthus (1798) proposed his work during the early stages of the industrial revolution when inadequate food and clothing were common features in England.  His argument was that population increases (geometrically) or at an exponential rate if unchecked i.e. 1-2-4-8- 16-32 etc  Food supply at best increases at an arithmetic rate i.e.1-2-3-4-5-6 etc A PESSIMISTIC approach  Malthus suggested that a rise in

If I were the Minister of Education in Estonia

Yet I think there are still many things that could use a change. I think, that one good change has been made related to the national exams, they have been improved a lot. This has assured an ongoing high level of education in Estonia. Our colleges' curriculums have also certified our college students' competitivity worldwide. I would like to bring out the education getting more and more creative as a positive change. I have noticed the use of active teaching methods and personal approach to the students. If I would be the Minister of Education, I would make the first change in turning the educational system to be more student-centered. I find, that not only those students need personal approach, that are going to study in a college but also those, who are going to continue their studies in a vocational school or are heading to work. I would definately change the exam system, so it would reduce the students' studying load in high school

What methods should parents and governments use to tackle obesity in schoolchildren?

At the beginning of 21st century obesity amongst has become a major issue in many highly developed countries such as Germany and United Kingdom. Kids are participating in less physical activities then before and food that has high sugar and fat content is easily accessible for them. Thanks to modern day society it does not seem like the rates are going down themselves any time soon. What could government and/or parents do to make youngsters lifestyle healthier? One approach that parents should consider is to influence their children to part-take in a heathy lifestyle. It is probably true to say that kids who are used to eating junk food and low physical activity are more likely to become overweight sooner or later. By changing living habits and stepping up as good role models parents should adapt food that is beneficial and doing sports into normal everyday life. If this is what kids are used to doing

On October 5th, 2015 the Final Report on Limiting Base Erosion Involving Interest Deductions and Other Financial Payments was presented analyzing several best practices and recommending new rules for limiting the level of interest expenses allowed for tax deductions. The recommended approach by the OECD is to limit the entity’s net interest expenses, and payments economically equivalent to interest, to a percentage of entity’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA). The net interest expense/EBITDA ratio should be fixed in a corridor of 10-30%. This approach aims at two objectives – uses net interest expense to calculate the amount of tax deductible (to maintain freedom for a corporate to decide where in

promotion. "Product-market strategy" is the term used to describe all the decisions which the organisation makes about its target markets and the products it offers to those markets. This strategy represents a decision about the current and future direction of the organisation. Product-market strategy must be developed in the most cost-effective manner, paying attention to cash flow and profitability requirements. A sound marketing approach will usually attempt to increase profits and cash flow from existing markets. 1. How has marketing been defined in this text? Marketing has been defined in this text like this: "The process of matching an organisation's resources with customer needs" 2. What is the key to organisation's solvency and profitability. Norman himself states that he makes it a rule never to criticize something unless he can offer a solution (p.??). Norman concentrates on person's perception of an object, on nature of human perception of the world in general, on how people approach tasks that designed objects are meant to aid with and poses as an advocate of a user-centered design approach. Dear ... I am writing to express my concern regarding the school meals served at The School House. That school food is healthy and tasty, could only be used in all schools canteens Estonia stockpiled, here are strictly controlled and processed foods. Start with the fact that Estonia grown food is stored, processed and routed school canteen supply chain for its intended purpose. This approach solves three important problems. The menu could be selective in how many different drinks. Since I myself can not drink milk, and in particular it could be a range of more buttermilk. Students could have a greater choice of food than what they want and what is not. Because some students can not eat everything and they should then suffer from hunger throughout the school day. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Yours faithfully .....

Seventeenth summer

Seventeenth Summer was the first novel published by author Maureen Daly in 1942. The book talks about a girl's first experience with dating and falling in love. (A seventeenth year old girl named Angie who falls for the popular boy Jack.) I think this book was really good. But it is a little bit slow book, it does not really have any action in it and it just more of a leisurely book to read. I liked the romance and the character development, I liked the simplistic nature of their love. It made me yearn for respect and honor, modesty and decency. I admire that slow courtship. The book itself I think was not fantastic, but overall, I felt good reading this book because it still had the romantic aspect but with a new approach to it.

Education

Education Education is so multifaceted that it is difficult for me to know where to begin discussing it, or how to prioritize the many factors. Relaying my own experience is easy: I had a standard classroom approach, supplemented by inordinate reading. In only the briefest and least memorable instances did I receive any individual tutoring. Education is commonly thought of as the job of schools. Adults cry "educate our children!" Everyone has opinions about the best way to do the job. It is of urgent importance, and all the numerous factors are much studied, debated, and new (or old) ideas continually tested or retested. Some people say "it's as simple as . . . Pet therapy

It has given difficult children, lonely old people and even anti-social prisoners a completely new outlook on life  Even though pet therapy is only now being widely used, it is not a new idea. In the eighteenth century an English doctor, William Tuke, filled the grounds of a hospital for mentally disturbed people with chickens, rabbits and goats. At a time when people were usually punished for strange behavior rather than helped, this was a radical new approach to treating the mentally disturbed. Tuke's idea was that patients could learn self-control by caring for creatures weaker than themselves.  This is an idea which has persisted. In New York, horses, cows, cats and dogs were recruited to heal soldiers who had been wounded during World War II. These animals comforted the traumatized and helped the battle-scarred to avoid becoming obsessed with their injuries.

Constructivism theory

hypotheses of the environment. Learners continuously test these hypotheses through social negotiation. Each person has a different interpretation and construction of knowledge process. The learner is not a blank slate (tabula rasa) but brings past experiences and cultural factors to a situation The term ,,Constructivism" was first introduced to IR theory in 1989 by Nicholas Onuf. It was first considered as an interpretive meta-theory, a reflectivist approach. It emphasizes the social construction of world affairs as opposed to the claim of (neo)realists that international politics is shaped by the rational-choice behaviour/decisions of egoist actors who pursue their interests by making utilitarian calculations to maximize their benefits and minimize their losses, hence the materiality of international structures. In spite of itself currently forming "a new mainstream" in international relations theory as some

Kliima kohta USAs

They are the means by which the American conservative movement will continue to protect its corporate backers at the expense of the public. http://www.state.gov/g/oes/rls/fs/46741.htm I've asked my advisors to consider approaches to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, including those that tap the power of markets, help realize the promise of technology and ensure the widest possible global participation....Our actions should be measured as we learn more from science and build on it. Our approach must be flexible to adjust to new information and take advantage of new technology. We must always act to ensure continued economic growth and prosperity for our citizens and for citizens throughout the world." President George W. Bush

Directing Fiction

It is a combination and continuity of space and light, soft and dark lights. Jean Renoir make's a strong accent on actors work. The combination of ''MisE en Scene'', drawing lens, dark sides, creating a foreground scene, use of the mirrors and smooth camerawork can be found in '' La Regle du Jeu''. Depth of field is what Renoir is trying to show. In everything from the perfect rhythm of the editing to the beautiful deep-focus photography. This approach allows everyone in a crowd to remain distinct, with characters in the background often doing something contrary to that occurring before them, placing a new spin on the situation. Equally the lighting and framing are excellent, while Renoir's spatial awareness allows the camera to do everything from remaining resolutely still (trapping characters within the frame, forcing them together) to skimming up and around, moving smoothly with the flow of the narrative
