Letter to Editor

Sample Letter to the Editor Letter to the Editor [ Date ] [ Newspaper Name ] [ Newspaper Address ] [ RE: Headline and author if you're writing in reference to a story OR "Performing Animals in the City of _______" ] Dear Editor: While circuses and traveling shows featuring wild animal acts may seem innocent enough, it has become apparent over the past decade that wild animal acts are inherently cruel and unsafe. Most circuses and traveling shows that use wild animals keep them for months on end in cramped transport cages, sometimes hardly larger than they are, with only brief periods outside to perform. The animals have no opportuni- ty to move or behave in a natural way. That's why veterinarians, animal behaviourists, biologists and animal welfare organizations around the world have condemned wild animal acts.

The institution was originally established in 1952 as the Court of Justice of the European Coal and Steel Communities (as of 1958 the Court of Justice of the European Communities (CJEC)). With the entry into force of the Treaty of Lisbon in 2009, the court changed to its current name. Its mission is to ensure that "the law is observed" "in the interpretation and application" of the Treaties. The Court reviews the legality of the acts of the institutions of the EU; ensures that the Member States comply with obligations under the Treaties; and interpretates EU law at the request of the national courts and tribunals. The Court constitutes the judicial authority of the European Union and, in cooperation with the courts and tribunals of the Member States, it ensures the uniform application and interpretation of European Union law. Scotland in 1707. How laws are made Most new laws passed by Parliament result from proposals made by the government. Proposals aim to shape society or address particular problems. Normally, they are created over a period of time. History In the Middle Ages and early modern period there were three kingdoms within the British Isles -- England, Scotland and Ireland -- and these developed separate parliaments. The 1707 Acts of Union brought England and Scotland together under the Parliament of Great Britain, and the 1800 Act of Union included Ireland under the Parliament of the United Kingdom. In 1066, William of Normandy brought a feudal system, where he sought the advice of a council before making laws. In 1215, this council got the Magna Carta from King John, which established that the king may not levy or collect any taxes , save with the consent of his royal council,

Alex is very easily irritable and very violent, for example he is very fond of opera and classical music but his friend Dim mocks it. Alex gets furious and punches Dim. He is also very arrogant even his gang members think so. The only thing that Alex values is violence and power. He thinks that Devil is inside him and explains that way his violent acts. He is from a good family and enjoys the power he has over his close ones. He has no empathy for his victims that mean he is very cruel. There are two things that Alex enjoys: blood and classical music. IS THE PORTRAYAL OF THE CHARACTERS BELIEVABLE? WHY/NOT? While reading the book, it seems very real, because characters are very well described. But for real life are these characters too unbelievable. CONFLICT OR PROBLEM Problem was that Alex and his friends committed crimes and

Furthermore, Tom acts quite boldly around George Wilson, who is Myrtle's husband, and shows no guilt for his affair. Tom has an apartment in New York where he and Myrtle can do whatever they want. In New York Tom goes out in public with Myrtle and doesn't care if he is seen with another woman. He likes to dominate those around him and keep Myrtle in her place. Caffeine

1 Caffeine 2 3 Caffeine (C8H10N4O2) is the common name for trimethylxanthine (systematic name is 1,3,7- 4 trimethylxanthine or 3,7-dihydro-1,3,7-trimethyl-1H-purine-2,6-dione). The chemical is also 5 known as coffeine, theine, mateine, guaranine, or methyltheobromine. Caffeine is naturally 6 produced by several plants, including coffee beans, guarana, yerba maté, cacao beans, and tea. 7 For the plants, caffeine acts as a natural pesticide. It paralyzes and kills insects that attempt to 8 feed on the plants. The molecule was first isolated by the German chemist Friedrich Ferdinand 9 Runge in 1819. 10 When purified, caffeine is an intensely bitter white powder. It is added to colas and other soft 11 drinks to impart a pleasing bitter note. However, caffeine is also an addictive stimulant. called Amnesty International who are fighting for human rights. Thanks for them there are many countries who abolished it. But is it right or should capital punishment exist? Firstly I belive capital punishment should exist because if you gonna take somebody's life it is only fair when you pay for this with your own life. Many people are thinking how cruel it is for a criminal but we should also think of the families that are broken apart because of the merciless acts of these criminals. Secondly it is too expensive to hold prisoners who have lifelong punishment. Especially it affects countries who are financially disadvantaged. It is not fair that taxpayers have to maintain the murders. Thirdly death penalty scares potential criminals. Many people kill another people because they want to go to prison, but if they have to pay for it with their own life maybe they reconsider it. Capital punishment must be allowed

What are the Estonians like?

We, Estonians, are very friendly and care about each other. When our country is going through rough times , we stick together and try to go through them as one . There aren't many riots in our country, because we aren't violent people. We like to stay quiet, so only a few of us have the courage to say their opinion out loud. Estonians have quite good manners. We say hi to each other and we often say sorry, even if our acts aren't so bad. There are also many gentlemen in Estonia, who open doors for women and make a lot of compliments. I really like that, because one opened door or one little compliment can make your mood for the entire day. Our country has four seasons and every season changes our mood. In summer and winter Estonians are very happy, but in autumn, when the weather is rainy, foggy and afternoons are very dark, Estonians are quite depressed and very tired for the entire season . In the spring

What can be done to prevent petty crime?

They should also learn how to protect themselves by thieves in order to not become victims of this criminal activity. It is very important to make people understand that they should also protect themselves because the police can only interfere after the crime. There are people who oppose these methods by believing that these will be time consuming and expensive, because they don’t think that teenagers will go to such meetings. Furthermore they hope that they won’t be victims of such acts and they don’t want to prepare for them. In conclusion, I believe that petty crime can be prevented with organising meetings and by preparing oneself for it. It is good to stop petty crime, so in my opinion, petty crime can be prevented.

Because of the geographical orientation of Scotland and its strong reliance on trade routes by sea, the kingdom held close links in the south and east with the Baltic countries, and through Ireland with France and the continent of Europe. Following the Acts of Union which united Scotland with England into the Kingdom of Great Britain, and the subsequent Scottish Enlightenment and Industrial Revolution, Scotland became one of the commercial, intellectual and industrial powerhouses of Europe. Lühike monoloog "Luck"

Some people seem born lucky. Everything they touch turns to gold. Others are dogged by misfortune. But what is luck- i would define it as the accidental way things happed without being planned. Some people say that they are lucky and others say that they are unlucky. In my opinion is not just people who might be lucky or unlucky- it can be single acts. When someone does not win a card game or misses a shot in basketball then they often think that they are unlucky. People who say that they have bad luck are negative. For example they woun´t even play bingo or take part in raffle. They think that because they are unlucky they can not be lucky. I am sure that if they wait something good will happen their lives. I like to wish people good luck, because i think it is a nice thing to say if someone has an interview or an exam

How has Margaret Thatcher affected Britain

gradually Thatcher's reforms reduced the power and influence of the unions. Also, though an early backer of decriminalization of male homosexuality, Thatcher, at the 1987 Conservative party conference, issued the statement that "Children who need to be taught to respect traditional moral values are being taught that they have an inalienable right to be gay". She fought for many issues to offer people better and more fair life. One of Thatcher's acts in her last half year in office was to put pressure on US President George H. W. Bush to deploy troops to the Middle East to drive Saddam Hussein's army out of Kuwait. At one point, Thatcher, became publicly concerned with environmental issues in the late 1980s. In 1988, she made a major speech communicating the problems of global warming, ozone depletion and acid rain. Margaret Hilda Thatcher began losing her popularity in 1989. Thatcher's political

She never hurts anyone physically, but her words can cause more damage than a thousand hits. She likes to take part in every action where possible so she has many hobbies. First of all, she is a very good tennisplayer. She also takes part in a dancing practise. Marin loves little kids and she likes to spend time with them in every free second she has. So she also acts in different camps as an educator. She is adorable! Considering all the things, there is too much positive sides in Marin to dislike her. She is popular with cowds and a non-smoker. She likes kids and helping others. All in all it is good to have a friend like her. She is just superb!

The influence of television

which all can be a big impact of their lives. Children who consistently spend more than 4 hours per day watching TV are more likely to be overweight. They usually tend to grab a snack while watching TV or even eat their supper or afternoon snack in front of a TV. Of course, television can be educational and teach children something, such as self- defense whilst also teaching them fighting. Nevertheless, kids who view violent acts are more likely to show aggressive behavior but also fear that the world is scary and that something bad will happen to them. TV characters often depict risky behaviors, such as smoking and drinking, and also reinforce gender-role and racial stereotypes. Anyways TV is pointless thing and I don`t suggest it because it ruins our life and makes us FAT!

Does the Higgs Field do something?

(Dated: September 16, 2016) Abstract Is studied the possibility to replace the Dark Matter and the Dark Energy with the single Higgs Field (or fields). The study in close direction was made in arXiv:1603.06242, and in “The Higgs Boson May Disintegrate into Dark Matter” (the Google News). Just because the physics is physical, then the Higgs Field do exist, do exist throughout the spacetime, and even acts on curvature of the spacetime even in the cosmic void (the places without the baryonic matter). In case of the places with the baryonic matter the Higgs Field emits the Higgs Boson to give the baryonic matter the right amount of mass: therefore the density of the Higgs Field do not alter the mass of the baryonic matter. Because we are free to move in a void, then the Higgs Field is acting exactly as the Dark Matter and the Dark Energy. Do you agree? PACS numbers:

Violence on tv

entertaining. Parents find it very hard to restrict their kids from watching violent television programs. The child would want to watch that program twice as much just because their parents said not to watch it. The child would be curious to find out what is so wrong about the program. The worst outcome of TV is that it sends out the wrong messages. Television shows also send out wrong messages to adults too. Some people that watch movies like "300" try the violent acts that are shown. TV has a very strong influence and can affect the ways we see things. I think that we can also learn form watching TV Some people feel that violence on television should be banned. Other people feel that it is entertaining.

FOOD FOR SPORT

There's no one meal that you need to eat before working out. Instead, focus on these 5 things: Low fat Moderate in carbs and protein Low fiber Includes fluids Made up of familiar foods that you tolerate well A grilled chicken sandwich or a slice of cheese pizza might fit the pregame meal description, but stay clear of the fried food (including french fries), greasy burgers, and soft drinks. Why is it so important to drink plenty of liquids during exercise? Water acts as your body's cooling system. You don't want to get dehydrated. The best way to stay hydrated is to drink plenty of fluids with meals, and drink about 2 cups (16 ounces) of water 2 hours before exercise. Is it better to stay hydrated with sports drinks or plain water? Water is often enough. But if you're exercising for more than 60 minutes in hot, humid conditions, sports drinks may help. They give you carbs and sodium, as well as fluids.

Singing revolution

The Singing Revolution is a commonly used name for events between 1987 and 1990 that led to the restoration of the independence of Estonia and also Latvia and Lithuania. Afterwards, there was a spontaneous mass night-singing demonstrations at the Tallinn Song Festival Grounds in June 10-11 in 1988. Singing revolution is known as a revolution without blood. Its aim for Estonia was to separate from the Soviet Union. The Singing Revolution lasted over four years, with various protests and acts of defiance. Independence was declared on the late evening of August 20 in 1991. Soon, on 11 September 1988, a massive song festival, called "Song of Estonia", was held at the Tallinn Song Festival Ground. This time about 300,000 people came together, which was more than a quarter of all Estonians. Estonians sang national songs and hymns that were strictly forbidden during the years of the Soviet occupation, as Estonian rock musicians played. On that

Sydney Opera House (Sydney Ooperimaja)

PLAYHOUSE is one of the most intimate performance venues with a seating capacity of 398. Originally designed for chamber music recitals, and best suited for single-set productions, the Playhouse is perfectly designed to bring everything from dramatic performances and film screenings, to presentations and conferences direct to the audience. It's where contemporary artistic forces such as Bell Shakespeare, Sydney Festival and Sydney Opera House Presents put on their greatest acts. And a place where distance dissolves, where the spectators live and breathe every creative moment alongside the stars of the show. Unheeded by onlookers but adding to the venue's flexibility is a fit-out that includes motorised battens for light rigs and scenery changes, enabling the most sensational productions to be realised. Obvious to all, however, are the Playhouse's impeccable acoustics. STUDIO is an intimate, flexible venue with a seating capacity range from 220 to 350.

Gay rights

To tell the truth, the 20th century has undoubtedly been the most violently homophobic period of history: deportation to concentration camps under the Nazi regime, Soviet gulags, blackmail and persecution in the United States in the McCarthy era... Obviously, all of that can seem very distant to us now. But quite often living conditions in the world today remain very unfavorable. Homosexuality is discriminated against everywhere: in at least 80 countries, homosexual acts are forbidden by law (Algeria, Senegal, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Lebanon, Jordan, Kuwait, Puerto Rico, Nicaragua, Bosnia...); in many countries, the punishment can exceed ten years in prison (Nigeria, Libya, Syria, India, Malaysia, Jamaica...); sometimes, the law prescribes life imprisonment (Guyana, Uganda). And in a dozen countries, capital punishment may be actually carried out (Afghanistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia...)

She said that the Chamberlain's nephew had sent her some real jewels and everybody knew that they cost far more than flowers. Boy was disappointed and left. He was really disappointed in true love, he went to his room and began to study Metaphysics. Moral was something like so that people don't notice the real values in life, they often don't appreciate the most generous acts. People also start to understand values after they have lost somebody or something.

The Forth Bridge

The Forth Bridge is a cantilever railway bridge over the Firth of Forth in the east of Scotland, to the east of the Forth Road Bridge, and 14 kilometres (9 mi) west of central Edinburgh. It is often called the Forth Rail Bridge or Forth Railway Bridge to distinguish it from the Forth Road Bridge. It was opened on 4 March 1890. The bridge connects Scotland's capital city, Edinburgh, with Fife, leaving the Lothians at Dalmeny and arriving in Fife at North Queensferry; it acts as a major artery connecting the north-east and south-east of the country. Described in the Collins Encyclopaedia of Scotland as "the one immediately and internationally recognised Scottish landmark", it may be nominated by the British government to be added to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Scotland. The bridge and its associated railway infrastructure is owned by Network Rail Infrastructure Limited. Until 1917, when the Quebec Bridge was completed, it was

The Picture of Dorian Gray

Basically, Dorian Gray looked like a regular drug-abuser, a drug-addict. Everything Dorian had gone through appeared in the picture, not in real life, because it was what he had wanted and prayed for after meeting lord Henry Wotton. At the end, Dorian gets so low in his behaviour and beliefs (he only believes in beauty as such, art and other sensuous pleasures) that even after turning his back to Basil, B tries to help him, save him from his ,,ideal life" of sensuous pleasures, but Dorian acts like a lunatic and stabs Basil in the back. After that awful deed, blood appears on Dorian's hands in the picture. He only did it because Basil had found out about Dorian's biggest secret, the secret of all...

Being an officer on board, you are required to work basically 12 hrs a day every day. You will have other work to do according to your rank. Such as the third officer, who will look after the lifesaving and firefighting equipment on board after his or her watch. The Second officer looks after the navigational equipment and acts as the doctor on board. And the Chief Officer will look after the shipboard maintenance and cargo operation on board. Should the ship enter or leave ports, you may be required to work twelve hours a day depending upon the type of ship’s contract. During the off duty time, you are free to do anything as you want, but you will seldom actually complete your rank duties during shifts, so you will actually have to over-work after those. It will depend on which type of ship you are sailing with

His master, the Farmer, was very greedy and he dreamed of being wealthy. To create the Goblin, the Farmer had to give him 3 drops of his blood and to sell him his soul

Christina Aguilera lühikokkuvõte eluloost

She was known locally as "the little girl with the big voice", singing in local talent shows and competitions.[19][20] According to VH1's Driven, whenever competitors learned they would be up against her in any given week, they would immediately withdraw, prompting insiders to claim it was "like sending a lamb to the slaughter." Her peers soon became jealous of her and would frequently subject her to ridicule, ostracism, and, in one gym class, attempted assault. Acts of vandalism around her house included the slashing of the tires on the family car. Eventually, the family relocated to another suburb in the Pittsburgh area (this time, Wexford) and took to secrecy about Aguilera's talent lest another backlash occur.[21] She attended Marshall Middle School near Wexford and North Allegheny Senior High School until she was later home-schooled. On March 15, 1990, she appeared on Star Search singing Etta James' "A Sunday Kind of Love", but lost the competition

They belive that the previous messages and revelations have been partially misinterpreted or alerted over time, but consider the Arabic Koran to be both the unalerted and the final revelation of God. Religious concepts and practices include the five pillars of Islam, which are basic concepts and obligatory acts of worship, and following Islamic law, which touches on virtually every aspect of life and society, providing guidance on multifarious topics from banking and welfare, to warfare and the environment. There are two main denominations in Muslims: Sunnis and Shias. The largest denomination in Islam is Sunni Islam, which makes up 75%-90% of all Muslims. Sunnis are also called as Ahl as-Sunnah what means ,,people of the tradition". These hadiths, recounting Muhammad's
