sankhya, vaiseshika, mimamsa, yoga, nyaya,
vedanta. NASTIK:
Buddhism, Jainism, Charvakaism
VEDANTA has two branches:
· ADVAITA (nondualism, Sankaracarya)& =denying God
DVAITA (dual in the sense that Soul and
the Lord are two)
· DVAITA: acintya bheda abheda
tattva (same and different
Within Vedanta there are 3 primary sources of authority:
SHRUTI ie Isopanishad it is heard from the direct source, the Lord - Vedas
SMRITI ie Bhagavad Gita it elaborates and comments on SHRUTI.
NYAYA ie Bhagavatam Vedanta Sutra
Bhagavad Gita is actually Sruti and Smriti, because these are the words of God and at the same time it
is the part of historical narration, Mahabharata.
